[Declude.JunkMail] habeas

2002-11-08 Thread Glen Ostgaard
Title: Message

Does the HABEAS test
as implemented in Declude JunkMail query the Habeas Infringers List?

If not, would we
have to set it up in global.cfg as an ipr4 test?

Could it be run just
for those emails with Habeas headers?

Information about
the Habeas Infringers List. http://www.habeas.com/services/infringers.htm

DNS Quesry or
Transfer of the HIL

The HIL is available
for DNS query at hil.habeas.com.Affirmative responses will return
127.0.0.2

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] habeas

2002-11-08 Thread R. Scott Perry

Does the HABEAS test as implemented in Declude JunkMail query the Habeas
Infringers List?

No -- HIL is a standard ip4r test, and can be added to any version of
Declude, by adding a line such as:

HIL ip4r hil.habeas.com 127.0.0.2 5 0

to your global.cfg file.

Note that there are no IPs listed in there yet, and it is not expected that
there will be any for quite some time.

Could it be run just for those emails with Habeas headers?

No, it would need to be run on all E-mail.

[Declude.JunkMail] * and . blocking.

2002-11-08 Thread paul
Scott,
just curious, I'm going through my fromfile, taking out multiple
entries, and notice addresses like @mail04.something.com. I have listed
.something.com and @something.com. Is this correct? I'm assuming the
@something will catch [EMAIL PROTECTED], and the .something.com will
catch [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please say that's right! when I
started I was blocking the whole thing, but since they change, I thought
.something would catch any changes.

Yes, that would work fine.

By changing it from -4 to -3, it would end up slightly increasing the
weight of E-mail where the MX record of the return address matched the IP
the E-mail was sent from.

That would be useful but in the meantime I wrote a little batch file that
runs delog, pauses (to let it complete) then renames the default text file
to the current date. It worked last night so now I am going to have it move
it to the spool directory. I would also like to have it email me a copy
automatically. Any ideas how to accomplish that?

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] Message Sniffer Confidence

2002-11-08 Thread Webmaster - GlobalWeb.net

we too offer 2 levels - weight10 marks the subj
with an indicator they can filter on - weight20 gets the email held; the
legit emails i have seen come across usually fail only sniffer, which has a
physical weight in our system of only 5, so by itself, it doesn;t flag the lower
level of our testing; in combo with most other tests however, it
would.

If you are interested in a Declude 'external test' for adult oriented
material, we will be releasing a product for Declude/iMail and other MTAs
soon
(CYBERsitter NoXMail). We adapted the content recognition engine from our
product CYBERsitter, and it is extremely accurate and highly configurable.
We
have about 30,000 of our users currently submitting all their objectionable
mail to us and we are in the process of 'fine tuning' the pattern files. It
is
very fast, processing average messages in ~200ms. We have had very few false
positives ( .1%) and it even knows the difference between an 'off-color'
joke, and adult spam.

RE: RE: Re: [Declude.JunkMail] Adultery

2002-11-08 Thread John Tolmachoff
No, sorry. We don't do shareware here, although I don't know exactly how it
will be distributed yet. Our marketing department is currently doing its
evaluations. The 'real' target market is large ISPs, but we use IMail and
Declude Junkmail here, so it was an obvious 'must do'.

I understand.

Hopefully, there will be a tiered pricing structure for smaller companies,
such as small hosting companies like us.

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] Message Sniffer Confidence

We weight sniffer as a 12 and block at 15. This works very well for us.

Subject: [Declude.JunkMail] Message Sniffer Confidence

So, after seeing the last 2 months that message sniffer is around 90%
accurate, what confidence has everyone put in it? We offer our clients 2
levels of SPAM blocking. Regular (using a WEIGHT20) and Aggressive (using a
WEIGHT10). Because we're an ISP, we have to be really careful about
deleting legitimate email.

We purchased Message Sniffer and implemented it and it is catching a bunch
of messages, but the default weight is 7. With the percentage as high as it
is, I'd like to give it a 17 so that if a message fails it plus 1 other
test, it'll fail the regular test. Need I be that cautious?

Just looking for feedback from other users of Sniffer.

Hi John, I am pretty sure you can be assured of that. We deal with a lot of
small ISPs and hosting companies now and always try to keep value high and
expense low.

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] FX Apps

2002-11-08 Thread Tom
That would be useful but in the meantime I wrote a little batch file that
runs delog, pauses (to let it complete) then renames the default text file
to the current date. It worked last night so now I am going to
have it move it to the spool directory. I would also like to have it email
me a copy automatically. Any ideas how to accomplish that?

You could use the Imail mail utility in your batch file or make your
own *.SMD files with the log file and copy them into the spool folder.

Tom

Hi Karl,

You may want to checkout http://www.iopus.com/beee.htm

Its a neefty little program that will email a single file or a group of
files in a subdirectory when its created. Its great for reports that take
overnight to complete.

Does this update include the option to set the t_rep: option to
LOG in order to write a report to the Spool directory?

Not yet, though I am considering it.
