Apologies for entering what is per se a duplicate report -- I should
have looked harder in the database before reporting.

I wonder if the following behaviour is part of the same or is a
different bug:

I put an audio CD in the drive, the desktop icon appears and SoundJuicer
starts, reads the CD and allows me to play or rip. If I then terminate
SoundJuicer and either double click the desktop icon or use shift+right
click to get the menu and select Browse, SoundJuicer itself starts but
it goes no further. In particular, it does not display the list of
tracks. It is as though either something is locking the CD device on
first action on insertion that is not released when the first
SoundJuicer instance is terminated or subsequent instances of
SoundJuicer are not being correctly connected to the CD device.

[Bug 35997] Re: Gnome's Places menu starts Konqueror instead of Nautilus

2006-05-26 Thread Sebastien Bacher
x-directory/gnome-default-handler is not a mimetype, grep to
/usr/share/mime by example for it, it's not listed, is there any reason
to use it for the MimeType line?

The default assignations are set this way with GNOME:
$ grep directory /etc/gnome/defaults.list
inode/directory=nautilus-folder-handler.desktop
x-directory/normal=nautilus-folder-handler.desktop

We could list x-directory/gnome-default-handler from it too, but since
that's not a public mimetype that would not be optimal neither

nautilus has a --no-desktop and a gconf key to not take over the
desktop too ...

Subject: ubuntu-artwork: Boxes for do not scale with font (i.e. non default DPI
makes it look funny)
Package: ubuntu-artwork
Version: 24
Severity: minor

Specifically the username/password box on my system is too small if I
set my DPI correctly (rather than choose the default 75 dpi).

My display is 145 dpi rather than a usual 70-100. So my fonts are much
larger (pixel-wise) than usual. But the theme seems to not take this
possibility into account and the username/password box are too small for
my input and become clipped.

AFAIK, tetex is not on the CD anyway. People who need it must download
it from the repositories. It doesn't make any difference to them
whether they download it from the dapper repository or the
dapper-updates repository, since the latter is enable automatically.

[Bug 37148] Re: Cannot Convert Files (mp3) that Totem-gstreamer can play

2006-05-26 Thread Andreas Kling
I have the same problem here. I am using the latest version of Dapper
(with Serpentine Version 0.6.91-0ubuntu3).

The console output gives no useful information, because the error it shows
occured before I clicked Write to Disc:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ LC_ALL=C LANG=C LANGUAGE=C serpentine --debug

The exact error message that serpentine shows is:
Converting files failed
Writing to disc didn't start so it is still usable.

Would it help if I would provide the file that causes the error?

I have the same problem again in Dapper up-to-date as of 2006-05-26. I
have an ati radeon 8500 LE graphics card. X freezes on me after
launching a 3D application like glxgears and sometimes even when doing
2D stuff like browsing the web. I reported earlier on about the same bug
(#3527). However, I did not anymore experience crashes after 2006-04-11
until the middle of May. Only a few days ago it started again. Maybe it
is due to recent xorg driver updates?

[Bug 46221] restart required text doesn't fit inside bubble

After installation, the restart required bubble appeared, but it

[Bug 46724] Can't open local xhtml files by double clicking

2006-05-26 Thread Matthew East
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: shared-mime-info

It's not possible to double click on xhtml files to open them any more.
I receive the following error:

The filename index.html indicates that this file is of type HTML document.
The contents of the file indicate that the file is of type XML document. If
you open this file, the file might present a security risk to your system.
Do not open the file unless you created the file yourself, or received the file
from a trusted source. To open the file, rename the file to the correct
extension for XML document, then open the file normally. Alternatively, use
the Open With menu to choose a specific application for the file.

Here is the header of the file I'm trying to open:

?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8 standalone=no?
!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC -//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN

[Bug 39871] Re: [evince duplex] GNOME doesn't follow print configuration

2006-05-26 Thread Dirk
Gimp does not follow instructions either (in gnome). On my Canon IP4000,
if you select things like lower tray it ignores that and simply prints
on the upper tray (this works correctly under kde BTW). On evolution
something different happens, select duplex and that is ignored,
landscape and it prints landscape - but in the middle of a portrait
page. It has 'button select' selected and observes that (whereas on the
gimp it always uses upper tray).

[Bug 46729] Gstreamer resolves relative paths as /home/[user]/[Path]

2006-05-26 Thread Aaron Whitehouse
Public bug reported:

Using Dapper Beta. Apologies in advance for filing this against the
wrong package!

Totem-Gstreamer (or whatever GST component decodes shoutcast playlists -
looks like a similar thing is happening in Rhythmbox) resolves relative
file links as being /home/[user]/[PATH] instead of being relative to
where the playlist is saved.

This creates some odd results:
1) Open Totem-GStreamer
2) Enqueue a list of music files
3) Save the playlist in the same folder as the music files or in a folder above
that folder (if it is not in one of these it uses file://[Absolute path])
4) Open the playlist in Totem-Gstreamer
5) You get an error Totem could not play file /home/[user]/[relative path]

It should be trying to play [Path of playlist][Relative path].

[Bug 46732] Regression : strange behavior with NTFS volumes

2006-05-26 Thread Boris de Laage
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager

I have 2 NTFS partitions in fstab, everything was fine with ubuntu 5.10,
but now I have many problems :

- dbl-click on the volume icon doesn't open anything. The volume is
actually mounted, but I have to refresh the view first to see the icon
changed, and open/browse the volume.

places, in file-selectors in nautilus tree view. Now, volume isn't
shown.

- The Computer place shows icons for /, /home and filesystem. In

[Bug 46730] The ubuntu-artwork translation template is not installed

The ubuntu-artwork's Rosetta template is translated into Spanish, as you
can see here:

However, the gnome-theme-manager shows Human description as

happens when you install some random package:

?

Is there anything in the log of apt that indicates that one package is

[Bug 46741] Screensaver starts even though monitor is turned off

2006-05-26 Thread Brian Mathiyakom
Public bug reported:

I just upgraded from Breezy to the Dapper Release Candidate on an IBM
X40.

After I turn off my monitor (using IBM hotkey Fn+F3), the screensaver
still starts after the set idle time.

This did not occur in Breezy -- if the monitor was off, the screensaver
didn't start.

I'm not sure how to get any logs on this event; if someone could point
me in the right direction, that would be great.

[Bug 46687] Nautilus crashes trying to create a thumbnail for .swf files

2006-05-26 Thread Dan Stachowski
Public bug reported:

Nautilus crashed everytime i opened a directory containing a .swf file.
Moving the file to the Desktop caused Nautilus to crash and restart
continously.

I was able to remedy the problem by uninstalling libswfdec0.3 (which
also uninstalled gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad, gstreamer0.8-plugins,
gstreamer0.8-swfdec, and swf-player). I know this is not in the base
Ubuntu package set, but maybe this could be handled more elegantly by
Nautilus.

[Bug 46752] network monitor icon changes offset when activity occurs

2006-05-26 Thread Trent Lloyd
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-artwork

The network monitor icon appears to change offset when network activity
occurs, this is easily observed just watch the monitor icons while
network traffic starts and stops, when one of the two monitors is
brown, the icon seems to step down a coupel pixels

I suspect its a mistake - however if it is intentional I think its too
distracting IMHO

[Bug 46401] Re: [Bug 46401] Re: update notification icon is a label

2006-05-26 Thread Étienne Bersac
Hello,

I guess this is /usr/share/pixmaps/update-icon.png . This is still not a
glassy icon like other. Why 16x16 where system-log-out is 24x24 ?

Note also that process-stop should be glassy -- as arrow and other --
for consistency.

We still lake a 24x24 save icon. gedit use 16x16, evolution scale it to
24x24.

Strange that when seeing the wallpaper of computer, the ton is much like
the enlighted wallpaper i shiped than the darken one shiped for now (or
like in lock screen at the logout dialog).

That was good to have a lock under the screen of the lock screen icon at
the logout dialog, like in system-lock-screen.

There is a big size problem about tab close button that the new icon
reinforce. Don't know what we can do for this. Why is the close icon a
label and not an action icon such as next, previous, etc. with glassy
effect ? A Quit icon would be appreciated.

That would be good to have a Human Quit icon that fit well with the
close icon.

Is this possible to have 24x24 icons for Ekiga (Those one are nice, but
really tiny).

So, that might be al the comment i can do for this.

Étienne.

[Bug 46759] panel's show desktop icon is really, really, really ugly

2006-05-26 Thread Alvin Thompson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-artwork

i don't know was it is, but i find the new show desktop panel icon to
be quite repulsive. even repulsive enough to file a bug about it. it's
too busy and complicated looking. plus that pencil seems impossibly
large and threatening (thank goodness Freud is no longer around to
analyze that comment). the previous icon (the one from the Tangerine
icon theme) is quite nice. it would be nice to go back, or have a vote

Changing one `0' into `1' would destabilize the release process? But

I think, not fixing this bug for a long time, wasn't a good idea. I
hope, that only very, very few packages depend on tetex.

Add Network Monitor to a Gnome desktop panel.

Watch panel icon closely as it animates (screens change from black to
brown when network traffic is sent/received).

Notice that the entire icon shifts around by a few pixels. The frames of
animation are misaligned.
