[Bug 152851] [NEW] Media Key + Rhythmbox + Screensaver
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Hello, I think it is not a bug, i ill blueprint this if I do but: I have a xps 1330 and his remote control and media keys. Last night, I have try to listen musik before sleep. I have launch rhytmbox, try the remote control (this work), but after close the lid, and so when gnome-screensaver is start, i can't control the media player (rhythmbox or other really). My question is could you fix rhythmbox or gnome-sreensaver to be able to control with media key , remote control will screensaver is running I think this is not a security issue and too, for example, if you leave your desktop and somebody come and don't like you musik, it can pause/stop it...it isn't very important i think... [Bug 260765] [NEW] DVD playback does not work anymore
You have been subscribed to a public bug: In intrepid DVD playback using gstreamer does not work anymore after upgrading gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad_0.10.7-2 to gstreamer0.10-plugins- bad 0.10.8-1. Totem lists the same entries in the playlist like it did with 0.10.7. It also resizes the window according to the size of the movie, but It only displays a black picture (which might be the first frame of the movie) and it does not play the movie. Totem stays at 0:00/0:14. Also the 14 seconds are clearly wrong. This value is displayed for all videos on the dvd. Attached is the output of: GST_DEBUG_NO_COLOR=1 GST_DEBUG=*:3 gst-launch-0.10 playbin uri=dvd:///dev/dvd1 gst.log 21 (I cut that log file right before pressing ctrl-c after having this run for a few seconds, so the last lines should be where it is frozen) This displays a black window in the size of the movie, but again nothing is playing. Since downgrading to 0.10.7 fixes this for me, I tried installing 0.10.8 and removing /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libresindvd.so so the old way of playing dvds would be used again. This made dvd playback work again, so I guess the problem is within resindvd. ** Affects: gst-plugins-bad Importance: Unknown Status: New ** Affects: gst-plugins-base0.10 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Tags: regression-potential -- DVD playback does not work anymore https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/260765 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gst-plugins-base0.10 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 162480] [NEW] [gutsy] Ejecting zip disk works but then gives error messages
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Running Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 on an Intel Celeron system. After using my zip disk for read only, when I eject it with Eject command on right- click menu over zip icon, the disk ejects but then an error message appears in lower right of desktop. It says that the system is writing (flush the write buffer) onto the disk and that I shouldn't remove the disk, but it already popped out of the drive. Soon another message pops up in the center of desktop saying that it can't eject the volume (but it already has done it). This is an internal atapi Iomega Zip 100 drive. I haven't tested the eject after writing to the zip disk yet. First question that comes to mind is why does the system think it needs to flush the write buffer onto the disk when it only has done reads. Maybe it's updating a touched date on the disk? Or maybe this is simply a bug. Second, the eject actually occurs before the system realizes it needs to do the write. This is a bug. [Bug 123282] Re: LDAP fails. Says it can't find the server, but the server is there and spelled correctly. Works in Windows. Problem is probably with the authentifiaction.
Remember that sometimes DNS is not properly setup. In my organization the computer dept has a mixed setup of resolving IP addresses via DNS and via SMB/NETBIOS/WINS or something samba-related. I had this exact problem until I tried to ping the address book server from my linux machine, telling me it couldn't be found. From a windows machine it was found. One of the internal webservers are set up the same way - only windows-IP-resolution works, not DNS. Solutions: a) Setting up samba and make it resolve addresses for you might help the situation. If this works it's probably best because it mimics whatever windows does, and in my case the computer department mostly think windowsy. b) or, you could add the address book server IP address to /etc/hosts, like I did and it works like a charm. If you go to Evolution Prefecences, the exchange account and under Receiving options find global catalog server name to be nooslse002.sonnico.local, you need to find out the IP address of that server. I just ran ping nooslse002.sonnico.local on a windows machine. Now add that address to your /etc/hosts file: 127.0.0.1 localhost 32.8.8.70 nooslse002 nooslse002.sonnico.local Bob should now be your uncle. He was in my case; I didn't get the LDAP authentication failed and when I composed a new message, the lookup effectively worked. This will break when computer department changes the IP of the global addressbook server. They probably won't, but we're aware of Murphy's law. To developers: Maybe something could be done already in the settings window, like to see if the server can be contacted at all? -- LDAP fails. [Bug 276232] [NEW] Date/Time in 'Messeages' Mail field and Calendars List view not localised
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Ubuntu 8.10 intrepid (development branch) Evolution 2.24.0 I expected the date and time to be displayed throughout the application in a format that reflects my locale settings. Instead, the date and time in the fields described in the summary (and possibly elsewhere) are incorrectly displayed as Mmm DD in Mail or MM/DD/ in Calendars when my locale is English GB (I would expect DD Mmm or DD/MM/). Similarly the time is displayed as H:MM AM/PM, again not matching my local preferences. If the date time fields are to display values in a different format to the rest of Gnome then the user should be able to specify that format in the Evolution preferences. Please install the replacement f-spot package in http://retro.apebox.org/fspot/ It is versioned so that it will immediately be marked as obsolete by update-manager. This package should be VERY verbose when quitting, telling you exactly what it's doing: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/tmp$ f-spot WARNING: The add-in 'FSpot.__DefaultExporters,1.6' is trying to extend '/FSpot/Menus/Exports', but there isn't any compatible add-in defining this extension point Starting new FSpot server Reloading item changed **F-spot uses non-standard shutdown methods, herein detailed toplevels.Remove (sender); if (toplevels.Count == 0) { if (db != null) db.EmitDown (); System.Environment.Exit (0); [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/tmp$ Normally, (as detailed in the source code), GTK# applications are meant to call Gtk.Application.Quit() to clean up and exit - but f-spot instead has its own code to muck around with running threads then call the master killswitch. I want to know whether your hanging f-spot gets as far as System.Environment.Exit, or if it gets caught on the thread killing run - part of that question comes from your wapi=hps output showing one more thread than me.
