[Bug 28052] Re: Improve mouse sensitivity and acceleration settings
It feels like Acceleration in Gnome control center corresponds to the constant multiplier acceleration in xset, and Sensitivity in Gnome corresponds to threshold in xset. If you set acceleration high and sensitivity low, it's impossible to move one pixel at a time. If you set sensitivity high, you can move within a large range one pixel at a time before it starts jumping. If you set acceleration to slow and sensitivity to high, it actually slows down if you move faster. This two-step acceleration is pretty much garbage for a real mouse, but works somewhat for a touchpad. For a real mouse, I have found that xset m 11/8 0 works best, using the hidden set threshold to 0 feature that uses a smoothly-varying acceleration instead of the jerky two-step. [Bug 133656] Re: Synchronising Tomboy via Webdav doesn't work
Please change the importance from 'Wishlist' to something else. The comment from Greg Grossmeier is not correct in my opinion: Tomboy is currently encouraging the user to install 'wdfs', but doing so is not possible. No new AddIn for Tomboy is required, what is simply required is that wdfs be packaged for Ubuntu, and no changes AFAICT to the Tomboy package itself. So: the importance is higher than wishlist because Tomboy's as-presented functionality is broken and gives misleading user feedback, and the fix is not an upstream problem, because no new Tomboy code is required. -- Synchronising Tomboy via Webdav doesn't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/133656 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 314289] [NEW] evolution Check custom headers for junk not working
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution I have a postfix mail server with spamassassin installed and running on it. So incoming mail is filtered already on server side and marked as SPAM or HAM (all at default: i.e. X-Spam-... headers are added and if filtered as spam the original email is forwarded as a MIME-attachment. I use IMAP to sync/download new mail. I also enabled all inbox-folders to beeing automatically synced locally for offline operation. I have setup evolution to automatically filter for spam (options-e-mail-Junk-Check incoming messages for junk) and to obey mail headers (options-e-mail-Junk-Check custom headers for junk, is per default enabled) This setup does not work as email is still arriving in the inbox instead beeing moved to the junk folder as I expected. I also tried to enable all junk options in the account settings with no success. This options are NOT documented in the official manual so I suppose this is a bug. [Bug 310854] Re: Printing Photos with Canon original drivers stopped working in Intrepid
When I print A4 (text or photos through f-spot) I have no problems at all. AFAIK my printer cannot print this size borderless (altough I didn't had time for extensive testing, like 13x18cm or other paper formats). On A4, I have a little 3 or 4 mm border on every edge, image is well centered. That test was made with Canon proprietary driver. I also backported cups (1.3.9-11) and ghostscript (8.63.dfsg.1-0ubuntu13) from jaunty to intrepid. Gutenprint driver tells me some problems but canon one doesn't. I tested this one and prints the same as Intrepid standard cups/ghostscript. I never retried printing 4x6 photo on 4x6 paper since i don't love printing without paper, maybe the printing head could suffer damage... but, for testing purposes, I can retry. -- Printing Photos with Canon original drivers stopped working in Intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/310854 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 212098] Re: easy file sharing not notifying about logout/login
You got it right, both on my sugestion and in the problem with it. What made me think about this was Colin's 29 and 30 comments. Maybe what I'm proposing is overkill, but let me try to clarify a bit. I think if Bug 238224 gets fixed for hardy, and a one time silent call to gksu makes libpam-smbpass create the NTLM hash, then the whole issue should be fixed for new installs. For old installs, creating sambashare by default and adding the user to it should work, provided the user logs out. Anyway, if the user upgrades this package, she needs to logout anyway, right? Rolling out a point release seems a reasonable moment to ask the user for a logout. A simple bubble notification should suffice, maybe with a link to a more detailed documentation (with whatever mechanism firefox asks for a restart, and the kernel asks for a reboot). I'm not sure what would be the most apropriate would be in user-setup, as indicated in bug 238224, or another package. Since the first already has a patch coming, it's obviously easier to go that route. IMHO, the elegant solution would be to do it in nautilus-share, since it's what needs it, and it's pulled in by ubuntu-desktop, so it would be default anyway. But this wouldn't be nice to non-Gnome *buntu derivatives, so samba-common would be my second most elegant sugestion. Again, the patch already exists for user-setup, and it's fine if the result is to get the group created and the first user in it by default. -- easy file sharing not notifying about logout/login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/212098 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 310854] Re: Printing Photos with Canon original drivers stopped working in Intrepid
In eog it seems that the paper dimensions in mm (6x4 inches are 152.4x101.6 mm) are considered as PostScript points (152.4x101,6 points are 53.8x35.8 mm). This gives the small page size in the Image Settings tab of the printing dialog. The PDF's ImageableArea lines foresee a lower border of 12.8mm for the selected Photo with tear-off tab paper size. So eog scales the image into the upper 53.8x23 mm area of a 53.8x35.8 mm and sends this as a PDF to CUPS. So it is clearly a bug of eog or GTK. ** Also affects: eog (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: f-spot (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: gimp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Printing Photos with Canon original drivers stopped working in Intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/310854 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to eog in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 305030] Re: Failed to print document - can't prompt for authorization
I realize I've missed something here: you said your printer does not require any authentication. So there's also a bug in the CUPS printing system, which sets up the printer the wrong way. From the blog post quoted above, the problem is that the second line should not be present, and removing it is said to solve the bug. This is because the 'Guest' user (passed via the printer address) is does not need a password to print. Is that the situation of all reporters here? [Bug 311690] Re: Delay between blob submission and blob availability causes Launchpad to OOPS.
This is almost certainly fallout from database replication. During normal operation, it will take 30-60 seconds for the information about the upload to propagate to the replica database. It is quite likely that when attempting to view this page with a web browser, the replica database is hit and the information doesn't yet exist. It may be a simple solution to force the use of the master for this particular page. This would be a malone fix. An alternative is to update the publisher so, if a 404 is generated and the replica database used, the request is retried using the master database (quite similar to the Retry mechanism used to handle database deadlocks and serialization exceptions). This would be an infrastructure fix. -- Delay between blob submission and blob availability causes Launchpad to OOPS. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/311690 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to launchpad-integration in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 310854] Re: Printing Photos with Canon original drivers stopped working in Intrepid
With f-spot I succeeded to print a 4x6 photo on my HP PhotoSmart C8100. Perhaps the problems reported here are more a usability issue of setting the correct paper size with f-spot (and generally apps which use the GTK printing dialog). Important is that you set paper size and orientation either via Photo/Page Setup before doing Photo/Print or via the Set Page Size and Orientation button on the Image Settings tab in the printing dialog (Photo/Print). Perhaps you have to do this even at both places (which would be more user-unfriendly). -- Printing Photos with Canon original drivers stopped working in Intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/310854 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to eog in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 310854] Re: Printing Photos with Canon original drivers stopped working in Intrepid
GIMP (original printing dialog, File/Print has exactly the same problem as eog, but in addition, the preview shows only the upper left corner of the picture (the print job contains the full picture). So as in eog a very small-sized PDF is sent to CUPS. The sent attributes, especially the paper size attribute are correct, as with eog. With GIMP one can still print, by using the Gutenprint dialog (File/Print with Gutenprint). This works also for printers which are not explicitly supported by the Gutenprint printer driver. It is enough if the printer is able to print with CUPS. In the dialog you have to configure each printer which you want to use. Click New Printer, then enter a name for the printer in the Gutenprint dialog. After that click Setup Printer. Choose manufacturer and model for Gutenprint-supported printers. For other printers and also for HP inkjets choose Adobe and PostScript Level 2. If you have chosen Adobe and PostScript Level 2, choose the PPD file of the print queue in the PPD File: field. You find the PPD in /etc/cups/ppd/. Then choose Standard Command and select the name of your CUPS print queue. Click OK. Now set the options in the main dialog and click Save Settings at the bottom. From now on you only need to select you printer in the Gutenprint dialog and you can print. -- Printing Photos with Canon original drivers stopped working in Intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/310854 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to eog in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

If you want a dark background on all text fields choose a gtk theme with such colors and, if you want, select a color scheme that doesn't set the backround color so that also the text area of gedit uses the color specified by the gtk theme wontfixing this as well, thanks. ** Changed in: gedit (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low Assignee: (unassigned) = Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs) Status: Confirmed = Won't Fix -- [Intrepid / v2.24.2] File browser background further white whilst Oblivion theme https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312920 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 310854] Re: Printing Photos with Canon original drivers stopped working in Intrepid
Federico Belvisi, can you do the following: In the dialog for the paper sizes (Photo/Page Setup or Set Page Size and Orientation) do not choose the 4x6 photo page size under Any Printer but choose it under your printer. So select your printer in the upper drop-down box at first, then choose the photo paper size in the second drop-down box. The problem is that the name of the photo paper size is different from printer to printer. So choosing the size under Any Printer can lead to an unsuitable name being sent to CUPS and then CUPS chooses the default size of the print queue (in your case A4). CUPS then centers the 4x6-sized PDF file in the A4 frame.

I already did what you said here above in every of my tests with F-Spot: I selected the right paper size in the current printer model (not any printer, in my case i selected my Canon printer). Indeed, the available paper sizes were less than in any printer option. I selected my 4x6 in it. This is done in page setup and also in print-set page size and orientation. No luck, printer prints 4x6 in the middle of A4. [Bug 290204] Re: Annoying beep on shutdown using System - Shut down...
I muted the PC speaker on my laptop for now in the volume applet, otherwise the horribly annoying beep plays for me too. [Bug 312365] Re: trackerd uses O_NOATIME, but fruitlessly
I don't have Jaunty to test, but are you sure this fixes the bug? tracker 0.6.6 on ubuntu hardy uses a bundled copy of xdgmime to find mime types, not the GIO routine.
