Hi Sebastian Bacher Thanks for your email. last night the condition re-occurred every time I hit the send / receive key. [Bug 275952] Re: Unread search folder removes messages as soon as their unread flag is toggled
2.24.3 in 8.10, at least here, is working almost as it used to. I use a search folder for unread and important messages. If I mark the messages as read/unimportant using the 'mark as' menu the message is removed instantly (which would be enough for me if it worked on already read messages and there was an accelerator for mark as unimportant) If it gets marked as read automatically or if I remove the important flag in the message list pane, the message doesn't disappear until I reload the search folder by double clicking it in the folder pane (refresh and expunge unfortunately don't work as before. I used Ctrl-E to clean the search folder in 2.22, know I have to move the mouse around). Removing the important flag in the message list pane works but the icon isn't updated until the message is selected again (or the folder is reloaded and then the message disappears), so the important icon stays there until I change to another message and change back the previous unmarked message, by then the important icon disappears (the message doesn't only disappears when the folder is reloaded). It seems better than when the messages got removed as soon as read, but at least for me it still isn't working as I wanted it to, or at least as I got used to (and it worked well, for me at least). Having no keyboard accelerator to remove the important flag and since expunge isn't working to remove messages that don't fit the search criteria any more, makes it not as easy to use as it was in 2.22, but it is getting better. I agree this kind of feature is quite essential for a desktop search engine. If tracker can't do it, couldn't deskbar-applet work around it? There is locate, which has a quite capable filename search engine. Wouldn't it be possible to write a simple deskbar plugin that queries locate -i ~/'*$SEARCHTERM*' as you type? Deskbar has the advantage of taking multiple sources into account, and if tracker simply isn't designed for finding files by name, then use the tools that are. -- Search does not find anything if files name is partly written https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/202429 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is the registrant for deskbar-applet. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems. http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Bug 338193] Re: clock manual preferences do not match clock applet
Sure would be nice if the Report a problem function on the yelp Help menu made the distinction between report a problem with yelp and report a problem with the documentation yelp is showing. Of course, for the Clock Manual there is a link to About this Document that has a Feedback button that says to report a bug regarding the Clock Manual, but that's the very button whose link is broken: ghelp:gnome-feedback (It's also broken in Ubuntu 8.10 as well as 9.04.) How do you report a problem with the mechanism that reports problems? I note that the Feedback button is buried under several screens worth of Legal Notice. You have to really want to post a documentation bug to go looking for that button, which might explain why this has been broken for so long. -- clock manual preferences do not match clock applet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/338193 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

This is not a dup of #320921. This is a bug in Ubuntu's changes to the shut down dialog, referencing an icon that does not exist in the gnome theme.
