Re: [Bug 338449] Re: smtp server does not validate password anymore cannot send emails

2009-03-06 Thread rodger spooncer
Hi Sebastian Bacher
Thanks for your email. last night the condition re-occurred every time
I hit the send / receive key. A screen asked for the password for the
smtp server and then the pop server but the emails were not then sent or
received.

This morning evolution mail is working fine again. I entered the
passwords once each and then repeat send/receive commands are actioned
ok and repeated ok.

Hence you are now getting this email

Rodger Spooncer

2009-03-06 Thread Sebastien Bacher
But if the problem is exchange specific, does that rule out trying to
fix it? Or does it make the the problem less urgent?

no, but it means it should be assign to a different product where people
having access to exchange server can work on it, I've no exchange server
and can't work on those issues, opening the bug on bugzilla.gnome.org
where the people writting the code will read it on the evolution

[Bug 338682] [NEW] OpenType Fonts associated as ODF Template Files

2009-03-06 Thread Mark Steadman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: shared-mime-info

OpenType Fonts with file extension *.otf have file association
vnd.oasis.opendocument.formula-template rather than being associated as
OpenType Fonts. Previously, I could right click - actions - install or
right click - open with - KFontView. This is no longer the case.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Download an open type font eg.
http://www.ctan.org/get/fonts/cm/ps-type1/bakoma/otf/cmb10.otf
2) Right click in Dolphin

Expected Behavior:

KFontView should be the associated application

Observed Behavior:
OpenOffice.org Formula is the associated application

[Bug 338699] [NEW] Integrate xchat-gnome with gnome-dictionary and Web browser for looking up words

2009-03-06 Thread Juha Siltala
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xchat-gnome

Hilighting a word in the xchat-gnome main chat window brings up a
context menu with only one item: Copy. I would like to see integration
to other GNOME applications, offering items such as Lookup in
dictionary and Search for word in the Web. The latter could use
either your Epiphany smart bookmarks, your Firefox search plugins, or
just make a simple Google query.

For a good implementation of this functionality, see Gajim.

[Bug 338430] Re: A lot of software crash

2009-03-06 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
May you please re submit the report? It looks like the CoreDump file is
missed and without it the apport retracer cannot give us a detailed
backtrace which would help us to determine where the crash is and to the
developers to fix the bug. Please follow this instructions:

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch
nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on
the crash report you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-
file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where
_my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

[Bug 275952] Re: Unread search folder removes messages as soon as their unread flag is toggled

2009-03-06 Thread Bruno Santos
2.24.3 in 8.10, at least here, is working almost as it used to.

I use a search folder for unread and important messages.
If I mark the messages as read/unimportant using the 'mark as' menu the message
is removed instantly (which would be enough for me if it worked on already read
messages and there was an accelerator for mark as unimportant)

If it gets marked as read automatically or if I remove the important flag in
the message list pane, the message doesn't disappear until I reload the search
folder by double clicking it in the folder pane (refresh and expunge
unfortunately don't work as before. I used Ctrl-E to clean the search folder in
2.22, know I have to move the mouse around).
Removing the important flag in the message list pane works but the icon isn't
updated until the message is selected again (or the folder is reloaded and then
the message disappears), so the important icon stays there until I change to
another message and change back the previous unmarked message, by then the
important icon disappears (the message doesn't only disappears when the folder
is reloaded).

It seems better than when the messages got removed as soon as read, but
at least for me it still isn't working as I wanted it to, or at least as
I got used to (and it worked well, for me at least). Having no keyboard
accelerator to remove the important flag and since expunge isn't working
to remove messages that don't fit the search criteria any more, makes it
not as easy to use as it was in 2.22, but it is getting better.

Anyone else tried to use the search folders again?

Re: [Bug 240916] Re: can't configure display resolution (monitor, graphics card) manually in gui

2009-03-06 Thread tz
It is horribly difficult to put back an existing manual configuration
utility that was present in a recent version? That is the original
solution I wanted.

Fixing every possible permutation of hardware in the automatic config
would be horribly difficult, but that seems to be the only thing you
might be willing to do.

I simply want SOME mechanism to configure my laptop, and I had one,
and it went away and the replacement is broken.

[Bug 202429] Re: Search does not find anything if files name is partly written

2009-03-06 Thread Frederik Elwert
I agree this kind of feature is quite essential for a desktop search
engine.

If tracker can't do it, couldn't deskbar-applet work around it? There is
locate, which has a quite capable filename search engine. Wouldn't it be
possible to write a simple deskbar plugin that queries locate -i
~/'*$SEARCHTERM*' as you type?

Deskbar has the advantage of taking multiple sources into account, and
if tracker simply isn't designed for finding files by name, then use the
tools that are.

2009-03-06 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems.
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 338193] Re: clock manual preferences do not match clock applet

2009-03-06 Thread Ian! D. Allen
Sure would be nice if the Report a problem function on the yelp Help menu
made the distinction between report a problem with yelp and
report a problem with the documentation yelp is showing.

Of course, for the Clock Manual there is a link to About this Document that
has a Feedback button that says to report a bug regarding the Clock Manual,
but that's the very button whose link is broken: ghelp:gnome-feedback
(It's also broken in Ubuntu 8.10 as well as 9.04.) How do you report a problem
with the mechanism that reports problems?

I note that the Feedback button is buried under several screens worth of Legal
Notice.
You have to really want to post a documentation bug to go looking for that
button, which
might explain why this has been broken for so long.

[Bug 277309] Re: Missing suspend icon with non-human theme

2009-03-06 Thread Rodney Dawes
This is not a dup of #320921. This is a bug in Ubuntu's changes to the
shut down dialog, referencing an icon that does not exist in the gnome
theme. As Andreas has stated a couple times now, it's a very simple fix.
The dialog currently looks poor in quality, with the missing icon, for
other themes. :-/

[Bug 338779] [NEW] better support for ISO 9660 Level 2 Romeo

2009-03-06 Thread Matthias Olescher
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

The ISO 9660 Romeo CD Format has the advantage that it supports file-
and directorynames up to 128 charakters and it's more interoperable
with the Windows world in contrast to UDF, there you need a driver or
you even can't read. It was developed by Adaptec. In the Windows-world a
Romeo-disk (CD and DVD) can be made with the NTI CD/DVD Maker.

A DVD made with the NTI program had only low-case characters and special
characters are totally not displayed because it's not based on Unicode.

Does a linux-burn-program support Joliet Extended with 110 characters?
There are the limits?
