[Bug 357494] [NEW] gnome-screensaver does not detect activity on second monitor

2009-04-08 Thread Curt Sampson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

When using two displays without Xinerama, gnome-screensaver detects
activity on the primary display, :0, but not on the second display, :1.
Thus, in the middle of typing on :1 the screensaver will kick in. This
has been reported to Gnome as
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427905 but response has been
slow (about a year with little apparent progress). Getting a patch out
for 8.10 to fix this would greatly reduce the frustration of many people
in our office.

[Bug 357506] [NEW] Missing quit icon in menu

Public bug reported:

There is no icon for quit in any of the menus (including an extra gnome-
main-menu I added myself for my own layout).

[Bug 357273] Re: notify-osd randomly reverts to old notification system

2009-04-08 Thread Mark Lee
If you want to use the notify-osd system, don't use Awn Notification
Daemon. A-N-D is essentially a stock version of notification-daemon,
with a theme engine customization. No notify-osd support exists in the
Awn applet.

I suppose having a Provides in the package is reasonable, but it seems
that Replaces is a bit excessive.

[Bug 357503] [NEW] [Feature request] File remarks on mouse hover

2009-04-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I am thinking about this option for some time now. I don't know about
any OS or application that does my ideas and I think it will really
improve the interface with the files.

Many times, I find my self saving a file for future use or for later
email sending and such. Also, many times find my self staring at a
folder full of article and I can't remember why I saved all those
papers. Now, in real life, we add a note to the file and in this note we
write down some data (mail Johny, read for next class, etc). The
note feature exist (at list in GNOME it is but it is only a tab at the
properties dialog.

What I wish for is the notes to appear when mouse hover over the file, I
think the notes can also include a better preview of the files (the
about part in the case of an application, a larger icon in the case of
an image, the first few lines in the case of a document etc)

Thanks.

[Bug 347758] Re: Maximized windows spans to both monitors

2009-04-08 Thread Allcolor-g
Hi,

I personally don't know if the bug is in the radeon driver, I didn't try
with it. But it happens with fglrx, but isn't it the window manager that
handles maximisation ? what does the driver as to do with it ? (giving
the correct resolution of the desktop I suppose, which would imply
that's what is incorrect)

Anyway, I'll try with the radeon driver (I simply have to put the device
section in comment in the xorg.conf) and put here back the results.

[Bug 357540] [NEW] Rhythmbox mis-identifies files

2009-04-08 Thread Andy Ruddock
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Jaunty Beta, AMD64

Rhythmbox 0.12.0-0ubuntu4

Rhythmbox mis-identifies some files, for example, the attached playlist file
causes an import error
'The GStreamer plugins to decode FLTK Fluid file files cannot be found' -
this causes Rhythmbox to pop up a dialog prompting to search for a plugin
Because no plugin can be found, rhythmbox displays this dialog each time it is

[Bug 357036] Re: memory leak discovered in system monitor

2009-04-08 Thread warren
Here is the valgrind log. The system monitor became unresponsive and
fail to update screen a minute or two in, so I was not able to get any
information from it, but memory was being consumed. Just recently my
other applications became highly unresponsive, so I shut them down,
waiting until the last to kill the system monitor. In response to
Sebastian, I thought multiload-applet-2 was something that the gnome
toolbars used.

[Bug 347758] Re: Maximized windows spans to both monitors

2009-04-08 Thread Allcolor-g
Ok, I did the test, it was a little more complicated than just
commenting out the entry in xorg.conf, I had also to purge fglrx
packages for it to start.

So, with the radeon driver, maximization works as expected, only on one
monitor not both. But my gnome panel was moved to the second monitor
(right) and I didn't find a way to put it back on the first one. Also
I've noticed that in the display applet my monitors have their correct
name displayed instead of unknown like with fglrx. Except for the
misplaced panel (and no 3d :'( ), it works.

I've reinstalled fglrx and retry, still the same problem.

So it seems only related to fglrx and not ati-*.

But in fact, like I said earlier, it worked with intrepid with ati big
desktop feature... but on jaunty it seems not possible to use big
desktop and I must use xrandr instead. ati-config complains:

r...@trantor2:~# aticonfig aticonfig --initial --dtop=horizontal
Uninitialised file found, configuring.
Error: Options, e.g. --dtop and --desktop-setup, are not supported when RandR
1.2 is enabled

So as I understand, I would need to disable RandR 1.2 for it to work...
but I'm unable to do that, is there a way to disable RandR ?

thanks

[Bug 36189] Re: Applets do not scale well with changing resolution

2009-04-08 Thread Aidan Fitzpatrick
Good to see the workarounds. However, this is still broken out of the
box in Jaunty.

I have attached a screenshot with panel at 1920 width, then downsized to
1280 without any interference.

For some reason my two right-side controls (workspace switcher, window
selector) get moved into the middle of the panel.

Proportional spacing is not preserved -- so everything's tightly packed
on the right when there's plenty of space on the left.

I think the positioning should scale between resolutions. I appreciate
getting this to feel just right may be tricky.

Worst-case, it would help if the panel at least remembered positioning
from different widths.

[Bug 357291] Re: totem-gstreamer crashed with SIGSEGV by playing a MPEG4 Video with Video-Player (after automatic Codec-Install)

2009-04-08 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You have reported a crash that actually happened in the
libavcodec or libavformat library. In order to be able to actually fix
this bug, we must be able to:

1. Reproduce it;
2. Check if it happens with the latest version; and
3. Understand where it actually crashes.

You can help with the first point by attaching an example file to this
bug report. Please note that a proper attachment is preferred over a
link to some remote site. Remote sites that are password protected or
otherwise restricted (services like rapidshare.com) are absolutely not
acceptable. If your file is too large, try to reproduce with the first
few MB only. See http://ffmpeg.org/bugreports.html section Submitting
Sample Media for guidelines.

[Bug 357616] [NEW] volume applet scroll control inconsistent

2009-04-08 Thread Edward Mountjoy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

This isn't exactly a high priority bug but it is an annoyance that
should really be fixed before the release.

When using the mouse scroll wheel to change the volume by hovering over
the speaker icon on the volume applet, scrolling down turns the volume
down and up turns it up. But if you click on the icon and hover over the
slider below, down scroll now turns the volume up and up turns it down.
This is very unintuitive and quite simply annoying.

[Bug 338867] Re: unable search for an application to open this file

2009-04-08 Thread James Westby
Hi,

My patch is in nautilus trunk, reducing the risk of including it in the package
if that is the way we want to go.

Thanks,

James

[Bug 357633] [NEW] Unable to send an S/MIME encrypted message to alternative address to a person who own a certificate with multiple emails

2009-04-08 Thread Mathieu Alorent
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Please describe the problem:
I have a contact whom holds a s/MIME certificate with multiple emails.

I can send him encrypted messages only to his last listed address in his
subject certificate's.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Receive/generate a contact certificate with multiple registered emails
2. Try sending an S/MIME encrypted message to alternative address

Actual results:
I got this message :
Could not create message
Because Cannot find certificate for 'u...@foo.bar', you may need to select
different mail options.

Expected results:
Evolution should find that I actually have a client certificate that contains
the e-mail address and encrypt the message.

Does this happen every time?
Yes, every time I try to send an encrypted mail to an alternative address of
a Client certificate.

Other information:
The field value of incriminated contact certificate subject field contains:
E = a...@abc.abc
E = u...@foo.bar
E = x...@yyy.zzz
CN = Test User

Here, I can send email to x...@yyy.zzz, but others does not.

[Bug 197290] Re: 2 gb max inbox

2009-04-08 Thread nocturrne
I rechecked this today and confirmed the bug still has not been fixed -
although, it has changed slightly.

Evolution 2.24.3
Ubuntu 8.10
2.6.27-11-generic

Evo now gives an error message and does not allow the creation of
folders larger than 2GB.

Error Msg:
Cannot append message to mbox file:
/home/user/.evolution/mail/local/mail.sbd/2Gtest: File too large

When you reach this point, you have to manually make a new folder and a
filter setting to route incoming mail there.

I guess this is a little better than having the folder mysteriously stop
working. :)

what happens if

It shows WORKGROUP which is the correct name of our home-network. I

Ubuntu 04.09. is running in VirtualBox.

what does gvfs-ls smb:/// returns?

It returns WORKGROUP

[Bug 357675] [NEW] other packages are unable to populate gnome-default-applications

2009-04-08 Thread Dominic Evans
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

...and hence cannot contribute to preferred applications chooser.

see bug 357651 for original report against firefox-3.5

Population of the web browser combo in the preferred applications applet
doesn't happen in the firefox-* packages but is hardcoded in gnome-
control-center itself (in /usr/share/gnome-control-center/default-apps
/gnome-default-applications.xml)

gnome-control-center (capplet) should additionally read user files from
/etc/gnome-control-center/gnome-default-applications.d/*.xml that other
packages could then populate to add their entries to this list.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04
Package: gnome-control-center 1:2.26.0-0ubuntu1
ProcEnviron:
 PATH=(custom, user)
 LANG=en_GB.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: gnome-control-center
Uname: Linux 2.6.28-11-generic i686

[Bug 357636] Re: [Jaunty] Evolution meeting evitation crash

2009-04-08 Thread gothicknight
Sorry, I think I've made an error where I say it crashes. It doesn't
crash, it hangs and has to be killed.

I'll try to have some time to analyze it with valgrind's tool callgrind
to see where it hangs.
