[Bug 357494] [NEW] gnome-screensaver does not detect activity on second monitor
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver When using two displays without Xinerama, gnome-screensaver detects activity on the primary display, :0, but not on the second display, :1. Thus, in the middle of typing on :1 the screensaver will kick in. This has been reported to Gnome as http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427905 but response has been slow (about a year with little apparent progress). Getting a patch out for 8.10 to fix this would greatly reduce the frustration of many people in our office. ** Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gnome-screensaver does not detect activity on second monitor https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/357494 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

If you want to use the notify-osd system, don't use Awn Notification Daemon. A-N-D is essentially a stock version of notification-daemon, with a theme engine customization. The note feature exist (at list in GNOME it is but it is only a tab at the properties dialog. What I wish for is the notes to appear when mouse hover over the file, I think the notes can also include a better preview of the files (the about part in the case of an application, a larger icon in the case of an image, the first few lines in the case of a document etc) Thanks. [Bug 347758] Re: Maximized windows spans to both monitors
Ok, I did the test, it was a little more complicated than just commenting out the entry in xorg.conf, I had also to purge fglrx packages for it to start. So, with the radeon driver, maximization works as expected, only on one monitor not both. But my gnome panel was moved to the second monitor (right) and I didn't find a way to put it back on the first one. Also I've noticed that in the display applet my monitors have their correct name displayed instead of unknown like with fglrx. Except for the misplaced panel (and no 3d :'( ), it works. I've reinstalled fglrx and retry, still the same problem. So it seems only related to fglrx and not ati-*. But in fact, like I said earlier, it worked with intrepid with ati big desktop feature... but on jaunty it seems not possible to use big desktop and I must use xrandr instead. ati-config complains: r...@trantor2:~# aticonfig aticonfig --initial --dtop=horizontal Uninitialised file found, configuring. Error: Options, e.g. --dtop and --desktop-setup, are not supported when RandR 1.2 is enabled So as I understand, I would need to disable RandR 1.2 for it to work... but I'm unable to do that, is there a way to disable RandR ? thanks -- Maximized windows spans to both monitors https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/347758 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 36189] Re: Applets do not scale well with changing resolution
Good to see the workarounds. However, this is still broken out of the box in Jaunty. I have attached a screenshot with panel at 1920 width, then downsized to 1280 without any interference. For some reason my two right-side controls (workspace switcher, window selector) get moved into the middle of the panel. Proportional spacing is not preserved -- so everything's tightly packed on the right when there's plenty of space on the left. I think the positioning should scale between resolutions. I appreciate getting this to feel just right may be tricky. Worst-case, it would help if the panel at least remembered positioning from different widths. ** Attachment added: gnome-panel-res-change.png http://launchpadlibrarian.net/25009547/gnome-panel-res-change.png -- Applets do not scale well with changing resolution https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/36189 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 357291] Re: totem-gstreamer crashed with SIGSEGV by playing a MPEG4 Video with Video-Player (after automatic Codec-Install)
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You have reported a crash that actually happened in the libavcodec or libavformat library. In order to be able to actually fix this bug, we must be able to: 1. Reproduce it; 2. Check if it happens with the latest version; and 3. Understand where it actually crashes. You can help with the first point by attaching an example file to this bug report. Please note that a proper attachment is preferred over a link to some remote site. Remote sites that are password protected or otherwise restricted (services like rapidshare.com) are absolutely not acceptable. If your file is too large, try to reproduce with the first few MB only. [Bug 197290] Re: 2 gb max inbox
I rechecked this today and confirmed the bug still has not been fixed - although, it has changed slightly. Evolution 2.24.3 Ubuntu 8.10 2.6.27-11-generic Evo now gives an error message and does not allow the creation of folders larger than 2GB. Error Msg: Cannot append message to mbox file: /home/user/.evolution/mail/local/mail.sbd/2Gtest: File too large When you reach this point, you have to manually make a new folder and a filter setting to route incoming mail there. I guess this is a little better than having the folder mysteriously stop working. :) -- 2 gb max inbox https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197290 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
