[Bug 11334] Re: Copy-Paste doesn't work if the source is closed before the paste

2009-06-02 Thread LimCore
** Description changed:

+
+ This bug is an Epic Fail, because it's 2009 and still we do not *fully*
support trivial things like copy/paste.
+
+ Fortunately this works well in KDE.
+
+
This -could- be the underlying cause of bug #7986.
This is a general issue that seems to be independant of any individual
program.
Pick any text field that supports copying, copy some text. Paste into any
other
text field. It works. Close the source window or program. Paste now does
nothing. The example I just verified this with is gedit to gedit. Also occurs
  with openoffice to gedit.

In some cases, like OpenOffice and Firefox, simply closing the source window
won't cause the problem. It only happens if the entire program is closed down.

[Bug 382652] [NEW] No ringtone for incoming calls

2009-06-02 Thread Matej Kovačič
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ekiga

When receiving incoming call from my SIP provider, I get a windows with
options to accept or refuse the call, but no ring tone.

Under settings there is enabled an option for tones when receiving
incoming calls. Sound files are under /usr/share/sounds/ekiga
(eing.wav), but cannot be played with totem, but plays good with
mplayer.

I had PulseAudio sound system enabled and also tried with ALSA, but it
is the same.

However, Totem produces the following error:
totem ring.wav

/var/lib/python-support/python2.6/gdata/tlslite/utils/cryptomath.py:9:
DeprecationWarning: the sha module is deprecated; use the hashlib module instead
  import sha
The program 'totem' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 76 error_code 11 request_code 132 minor_code 19)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

 there are more 'visible'/'official' places?

Right now we don't have a more official place, I'm afraid. But

should be fine for testing.

[Bug 382733] [NEW] event sound always enabled

2009-06-02 Thread Jakub Zakrzewski
Public bug reported:

I use KDE, but I have also ubuntu-desktop installed.
Since upgrading to 9.04 following problem occurs:
Some gtk applications generate sound events.
E.g. in firefox I choose: Save page as, then the dialog window
is displayed. I click on Cancel and a sound is played.
So I want to disable these sounds which also occur in other gtk applications
like eclipse.
For this I logged on Gnome and in Sound preferences I disabled
the play alerts and sound effects option (see attachment).

But it didn't help and the event sounds are still on.

At the moment we have Deleted Items in most places, Wastebasket in

[Bug 366262] Re: Desktop is completely unresponsive after Jaunty upgrade

2009-06-02 Thread auxbuss
I get this issue. To fix, I do the following:

- open the gnome registry editor
- check app/nautilus/preferences/show desktop

Make sure you switch it off again if you also use kde - and kill the
service it invokes - as it causes horrible desktop issues and
performance problems there. This is an awful piece of design, imo.

[Bug 373851] Re: for FOLDER, open with gnome-terminal DOES NOT do a cd to the FOLDER

2009-06-02 Thread Baptiste Mille-Mathias
You shouldn't use open with with terminal, it won't work like you
want.

If you have already Installed nautilus-open-terminal and restart
nautilus, right click on a folder you'll see Open in Terminal or
something like that, and it'll do what you want.

PS; no need to use uppercase, I'm not blind and I can read lower case
without problem, and uppercase is really to avoid, because following RFC
1855 [http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc1855] UPPER CASE LOOKS AS IF YOU'RE
SHOUTING..

Thanks.

[Bug 26930] Re: Usability Issue: Create A PDF Document: Save as

2009-06-02 Thread David Siegel
The title and description of this bug may need to be updated to reflect
changes that have been made to PDF workflow since the bug was filed.

In Jaunty, GNOME print dialogs have a Print to File printer available
in the Print dialog. When you select this printer, the output file's
suggested name is output.pdf and the suggested locations is the user's
home directory.

output is jargon, has the potential to collide with another file of
the same name in the destination directory, and is difficult to remember
as it has no relation to the name of the file being saved as PDF.
Incorporating the source file's name in the output filename as the
reporter suggests seems like a great improvement.

Saving to the user's home directory is reasonable, but the Desktop is a
more accessible location. We may also want to consider saving the PDF to
the same directory as the source file.
