[Bug 434262] Re: cannot accept meeting invite to Google calendar
Well.. if this is by design, I think there must be a way around it. On the Google Caldav Issues list (http://code.google.com/p/google-caldav-issues), where this 'feature' is fiercely discussed up from januari, several work arounds, or better: correct configurations, are discussed. One of them is the option to add an additional emailaddress to your google account. Whenever that emailaddress is used in the calendar invites, adding the event should be possible. [Bug 499570] Re: menubars not rendering
You have three versions listed in your version table. I think the problem is you should only have two. The second version (2.28.1-0ubuntu1.2 0 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com karmic- updates/main Packages) should be the one you're using . You appear to have pulled down a personal package archive version of evince rather than the one that is in karmic main. How are you pulling down updates, via apt? What is the response when you do grep -i ppa.launchpad.net /etc/apt/sources.list. If you have ppa.launchpad.net in your /etc/apt.sources.list file, you should probably comment it out with an octothorpe (#) in front of those lines which contain it. [Bug 439783] Re: Regression: devicekit-power does not display remaining battery time
I've been experiencing this bug as well on my HP Pavilion dv6000 ever since Karmic. I think the problem is related to the 'rate' that is reported through lshal and devicekit. The former reports the rate as -1: $ lshal | grep battery | grep rate battery.charge_level.rate = 0 (0x0) (int) battery.reporting.rate = -1 (0x) (int) Devicekit reports the rate as way too little: $ devkit-power --dump | grep energy energy: 47.8336 Wh energy-empty:0 Wh energy-full: 69.1456 Wh energy-full-design: 88.8 Wh energy-rate: 0.0148 W When I divide the full value by the rate, I get 4672 hours, which is much more than I can get out of my battery. Just playing with numbers, it looks like the rate may be off by a factor of 1500. If it were 22.2 watts, then the energy-full/energy-rate would be about 3.1, which is much closer to what I can actually get from this battery. Of course, this is assuming that GPM even uses the devicekit numbers at all. If I get motivated later, maybe I'll look through the GPM source to see if I can find where and how the time remaining is calculated. -- Regression: devicekit-power does not display remaining battery time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439783 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a subscriber of a duplicate bug. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 459647] Re: Cannot change mouse cursor theme when compiz is enabled
OK, I was having this same issue. What I've found is that I can change the cursor theme by running the gconf configuration editor and navigating to Desktop-gnome-peripherals-mouse and manually changing the value of the cursor_theme key. I changed it from default to whiteglass and the cursor_size key from 18 to 27. I then logged out and back in and now have the whiteglass cursor theme working well. One further note ... you have to use the folder name from /usr/share/icons, not the theme name identified in the appearances dialog. [Bug 459647] Re: Cannot change mouse cursor theme when compiz is enabled
And yet another ... if you want to change the default theme (this will also affect the GDM login screen), edit the file /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme. under [Icon Theme], change the Name setting to the name that appears in the Appearance menu. Not sure if it's necessary, but I also changed the Inherits value to the folder of the theme in the /usr/share/icons directory. Here's my index.theme Icon section. [Bug 500195] [NEW] 9.10 Nautilus - Cannot access FreeNAS CIFS/SMB folder containing more than 627 files
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Attempts to access a folder on a FreeNAS CFIS/SMB share via Ubuntu 9.10 Nautilus that contains more than 627 files results in: The folder contents could not be be displayed (Invalid argument) and inability to view folder contents. Test Case: ** 1. On local hard disk, create two folders (temp627 and temp628) containing 627 and 628 files respectively. File names in temp627 were xaaa, xaab, xaac, ... xayc File names in temp628 were xaaa, xaab, xaac, ... xayd Each file contained a single x character (files generated using split command though this is likely irrelevant). Note that contents of both of these folders may be accessed without issue using Nautilus while they reside on the local hard disk. 2. Start Nautilus via menu (i.e., PlacesNetworkServerSharefolder). Sequentially, copy temp627 and temp628 from local hard disk and paste to the share (in Nautilus view). 3. Double-clicking on temp627 on the CFIS/SMB share in Nautilus results in the folder opening and contents accessible, but double- clicking on temp628 on the CFIS/SMB share in Nautilus results in the folder contents cannot be be displayed (Invalid argument) message and contents not accessible. 4. This behavior was repeated on multiple shares and in multiple folder locations. [Bug 498529] Re: letter o is not read into a new message form in evolution
The issue is not really a bug, but the consequence of an unfortunate sequence of events. The user, (me), being a poor typist, somehow unknowingly got into creating a gnome keyboard mapping for evolution composer, of letter ¨o into evolution/composer/pgp-sign toggle. After that happened, everytime the user typed the letter o on an evolution composer window, he ended up toggling the pgp-sign check for the message being composed. This was found by inspecting the file $HOME/.gnome2/accls/evolution, where the following configuration line was found: (gtk_accel_path Actions/composer/pgp-sign o) which in fact causes the described mapping. Once the above configuration line was commented out, the evolution composer windows normal functionality was restored. Recommendations: Create a section on the Evolution documentation stating how keyboard accelerators end up being defined and how they can be reset. I found no referento to this features either on the ubuntu 9.10 documentation or in the evolution documentation. This bug may be considered closed/resolved now. [Bug 68924] Re: provide support for changing volume labels
Is there any progress on this issue yet? Creating a .desktop file for a new volume name definitely falls into the hacky inelegant solution bucket, since .desktop files aren't universally recognised. Taking the gparted approach means that you're stuck with upper-case labels, i.e.: CruzerKey becomes CRUZERKEY New Ubuntu users shouldn't have to resort to the command line to do something this simple, especially when it can be done from the GUI of other operating systems. Nautilus can specify a volume label when formatting a volume (and it can be mixed-case), so why can't Nautilus rename a volume without formatting it? -- provide support for changing volume labels https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/68924 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 152648] Re: gdm_slave_xioerror_handler: Fatal X error
Hi all, Unfortunately, while the title of this bug looks technical and specific, in truth all it means is X crashed for some reason. You'll see this message in gdm logs for any variety of different crashes, but I'm afraid people are finding this bug report and since the error message is the same are assuming they have the same bug. So I'm going to close this bug report so it doesn't continue to mislead people. By default the information displayed in the log files when a crash occurs is insufficient to debug the issue. Instead, you'll need to collect a full backtrace - see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing for guidance on this. (Although with -nvidia since it's a binary proprietary driver, even with a backtrace we likely won't be able to fix it at the distro level anyway. Still, backtraces are worth collecting just in case.) ** Changed in: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- gdm_slave_xioerror_handler: Fatal X error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152648 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 442448] Re: gthumb photo import tool fails, error in io-library
i did exactly the same with a fairly well supported camera. [Bug 493063] Re: trying to rip: error transferring track, Unable to locate encoding profile for mime-type
I hit this problem too, though not reliably reproduceable: it happens after ripping 5-6 discs. Quitting the application fully (not just closing the windows, but making sure the background process (indicated by the small icon in the menu bar) is closed too) and restarting solves the problem for awhile. If I hit it again I'll set up a debug log. -- trying to rip: error transferring track, Unable to locate encoding profile for mime-type https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/493063 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 489274] Re: gconf-editor will not disable password on resume
I can confirm this bug in Karmic. The problem does not exist in Jaunty, so this is a regression. Could the fix for 42052 or 428115 have caused this regression? -- gconf-editor will not disable password on resume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/489274 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 493063] Re: trying to rip: error transferring track, Unable to locate encoding profile for mime-type
Hi Brian: It appears the problem might be more serius than stated, as soon as i tell it to rip the application turns dark and does not work, the only thing is to force it to quit. R. [Bug 78661] Re: Black themes/High Contrast Inverse theme Bugs
I'm sad to say this also effects the new Ubuntu Software Center (seemingly regardless of theme engine.) While a workaround for browsers, a simple stylesheet, how does one go about themeing the installer (at the very least the command buttons, it seems like text is hard coded to black on buttons or something...?) I'm using Ubuntu 9.10. ** Attachment added: Screenshot of Ubuntu Software Center with invisible command buttons with black text regardless of themeing http://launchpadlibrarian.net/37173257/Screenshot-USC-buttonbug.png -- Black themes/High Contrast Inverse theme Bugs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/78661 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk2-engines in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 498550] Re: Gnome should keep the volume settings when disconnecting an USB audio device
Message from upstream (the bug was closed as not gnome) : --- Comment #1 from Marc-Andre Lureau marcandre.lur...@gmail.com 2009-12-22 09:16:42 UTC --- This is handled by PulseAudio. Are you running PulseAudio? If yes, I suggest you report a bug to PulseAudio if you have been running it with module-device-restore (see http://pulseaudio.org/wiki/Modules#module-device-restore) I am going to try to check if the module is enabled in Karmic, and if so if I can report a bug to PulseAudio as suggested. -- Gnome should keep the volume settings when disconnecting an USB audio device https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/498550 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
