[Bug 578056] Re: lucid ekiga failure/libx264.so.67
There is no libx246.so.67 on my system: $locate libx264. /usr/lib/libx264.a /usr/lib/libx264.so /usr/lib/libx264.so.85 /usr/lib/i686/sse2/libx264.so.85 If I search for *67 on the net I find it to be older version. Is it the case? Also apt-get gives this. I'm running lucid. This was confusing for me also. OK, I managed to solve this problem by creating the link lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 2010-05-20 02:05 /usr/lib/libx264.so.67 - libx264.so.85 by cd'ing to and : /usr/lib$ sudo ln -s libx264.so.85 ./libx264.so.67 Anyways, it seems to be a dependency bug in the libopal code that requires an older version of libx264 67 instead of 85 Please make sure it is fixed. Re: [Bug 440865] Re: Visual notification for/correct user response to incoming voice calls and subscription requests not obvious
It's aggravated by the fact that when I select a VOIP call, the dialog that than says accept/refuse usually pops up underneath everything. Maybe in the VOIP case, the indicator should have accept/refuse options *in the indicator*, so you select one or the other, and the conversation pops up immediately as a result? -- Visual notification for/correct user response to incoming voice calls and subscription requests not obvious https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/440865 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 568565] Re: gdu-notification-daemon closed unexpectedly - Lucid RC Live CD
I have the same issue. I really wanted to report it but as stated above, it is not possible. Moreover, after this 'unreportable' error another one comes (gdu-volume monitor closed unexpectadly). Also this one is not reportable. After few seconds the whole system completely freezes with distorted stripes all over the screen and all I can do is hard reboot. So I do not have a chance to send any log or whatever needed!!! Obviously there is a problem with VGA drivers or something like that. I do not have any special PC and what is the most important, IT HAS BEEN WORKING flawlessly since 8.10 till 9.10 including!! I do not understand how can happen that once working graphic can be after one and half year corrupted in so-called 'LTS' release. I really would like to contribute, send any log, anything that would help but I simply cant because as said my computer booted with Lucid Live CD freezes few moments after startup, and after reported gdu errors appeared. [Bug 127725] Re: weather report provide predefined radar maps
The link I proposed for the Netherlands should be updated to: http://gratisweerdata.buienradar.nl/radar.php The major difference with maps from weather.com, is that these local maps have more recent data in terms of history and prediction. Most people use these maps via a website and although these maps are freely available from the national weather service, the websites make it difficult to use the image only (because they wnat you to go to the site and look at commercials). Or at least they do not offer a direct link to the image. Hence my request, if these links are available in Ubuntu weather applet, more people will use the weather applet since it is easy to select a map. Of course these hints of suggested URL should be checked (semi- automatically) for each release if they still exist and contributors will have to be asked to update the link when it is no longer valid. -- weather report provide predefined radar maps https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/127725 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be addressed as part of this project. -I'm not noticing this problem on Lucid. [or rather very rarely] When torrent files change/update the thumbnail also updates. yes , there are times where the thumb-nailing fails initially , usually when the download has completed the new thumbnail is formed. But there are times when the thumbnailing fails too , which is much rare and as mentioned earlier a corner case. Not a papercut. This bug is very serious. I cannot deploy Ubuntu to anyone else unless it is fixed. The usual user cannot be told to use xkill Evolution and give it a second try. [Bug 583214] [NEW] After unlocking screen, keyboard input is not recognised by X
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver After having locked the screen and pressing a button (or moving the mouse pointer) and having unlocked the screen, X no longer accepts keyboard input, though I can still switch to the console using Ctrl+Alt+F[1-6]. But that's not the case. In Lucid 10.4, when you're done and close the window, the terminal freezes until you forces to close the terminal window. Before, in Karmic 9.10, there wasn't that problem. The terminal normally gets ready after closing the nautilus window. This little bug can reproduced by typing sudo nautilus in the terminal after booting up Lucid. After typing the password, you have to close the window and then you should be able to see the bug in the terminal. ** Affects: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- after first sudo nautilus terminal freezes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/583261 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 580961] Re: unzip fails to deal correctly with filename encodings
Martin, thank you for your comment. The question is now how to deal with this regression. One way is of course to reintroduce the patch from bug 477755 (not sure if it still applies cleanly). The other option that seems to be a more general solution is the one offered by natspec. I'm currently in the process of working with Andrew Shadoura to try and get the libnatspec package into Debian. I would think the following is the best course of action. 1) reintroduce (an adapted) patch from bug 477755 for lucid. don't close this ticket. 2) evaluate libnatspec for maverick What do you think? [Bug 580961] Re: unzip fails to deal correctly with filename encodings
failed to mention the reasoning behind my proposal. unzip is in main. If unzip were to depend on libnatspec it would need to be in main, too. This can not happen before Maverick. But I think we should try to get a fix for Lucid as well, especially since this is a regression from an earlier version and the solution should be reasonably easy to implement. -- unzip fails to deal correctly with filename encodings https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/580961 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a subscriber of a duplicate bug. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 580961] Re: unzip fails to deal correctly with filename encodings
OK, understood. But I think that's a bit lame. I'm not throwing around blame, but it seems your upload introduced the regression as part of your paid work and now you want others to fix it. I have no beef in this, am not being paid for it, yet I have already volunteered and done all the recent bug work, started to work on evaluating natspec for maverick, etc. Simply because I want the Japanese folks to drop one part of their delta to Ubuntu. Frankly, I believe you should play your part, being currently on the platform team or not. Especially since it's probably nothing more than taking the old patch, maybe tweaking it slightly, testing and uploading. -- unzip fails to deal correctly with filename encodings https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/580961 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a subscriber of a duplicate bug. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
