[Bug 602554] [NEW] gnome-session-properties / Startup Applications will *NOT* disable programs
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-session Here's what I do: I go into System Preferences Startup Applications and disable (uncheck) the applications I don't want to start. [Bug 160311] Re: Resizing windows by grabbing window borders is difficult
For reference, Ayatana are actually discussing this right now. https://lists.launchpad.net/ayatana/msg03040.html As usual, the Ayatana team take a particularly high-level view of issues like this, so instead of discussing how to implement borders that can actually be dragged without ninja-like precision, they are instead discussing why we need to re-size in the first place and wouldn't it be a far better solution if you never had to resize a window... Still, this might help alleviate the frustration felt by subscribers to this bug - knowing that's it's well known, understood and someone out there cares. -- Resizing windows by grabbing window borders is difficult https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/160311 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

So, i'm using : Description: Ubuntu maverick (development branch) Release:10.10 [Used lsb_release -rd ] And my nautilus version is : nautilus: Installé : 1:2.30.1-1ubuntu1 Candidat : 1:2.30.1-1ubuntu1 Table de version : *** 1:2.30.1-1ubuntu1 0 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status [ It's in French, because i'm Belgian ;) ] And according to maverick packages, it's the latest. So How to repoduce this bug : - Open nautilus. - Go to root. - Properties. - And then the nautilus displays that the disk usage iss 128 TB. ( I just updated ubuntu :P ). It's obviously false because my HDD is a 1TB one. ( And as far as I know, it's working well.) I made a screen capture, that shows this bug and perhpas another bug related. I'm not sure lspci -vvnn and dmesg will be usefull, but if needed I can also post them . I also tought that perhaps ls -lh command would be usefull but I can't understand it. total 96K drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4,0K 2010-07-06 00:49 bin drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4,0K 2010-07-06 00:50 boot drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4,0K 2010-07-06 00:48 cdrom drwxr-xr-x 18 root root 4,1K 2010-07-06 11:52 dev drwxr-xr-x 130 root root 12K 2010-07-06 11:54 etc drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4,0K 2010-07-06 00:48 home lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 32 2010-07-06 00:49 initrd.img - boot/initrd.img-2.6.35-6-generic drwxr-xr-x 16 root root 12K 2010-07-06 00:49 lib lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root4 2010-07-06 00:44 lib64 - /lib drwx-- 2 root root 16K 2010-07-06 00:43 lost+found drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4,0K 2010-07-06 11:54 media drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4,0K 2010-05-05 10:23 mnt drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4,0K 2010-06-30 21:53 opt dr-xr-xr-x 174 root root0 2010-07-06 12:52 proc drwx-- 3 root root 4,0K 2010-06-30 22:13 root drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4,0K 2010-07-06 00:50 sbin drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4,0K 2010-05-10 06:45 selinux drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4,0K 2010-06-30 21:53 srv drwxr-xr-x 13 root root0 2010-07-06 12:52 sys drwxrwxrwt 13 root root 4,0K 2010-07-06 12:04 tmp drwxr-xr-x 10 root root 4,0K 2010-06-30 21:53 usr drwxr-xr-x 14 root root 4,0K 2010-06-30 22:10 var lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 29 2010-07-06 00:49 vmlinuz - boot/vmlinuz-2.6.35-6-generic [ Sorry for my bad English, still learning :) ] Hope i gave enough informations. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Bad disk usage detection in Nautilus https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/602635 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 602640] [NEW] Multiple display is poorly handled with laptop undocking, and generally buggy
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center System: HP NC6000 + dock + external Dell CRT Ubuntu 9.10 (though problem was noticed on 8.10 and 9.04) System is normally run with laptop in dock, and external CRT connected, with the display setup as the CRT running @ 1600x1200 on top of the laptop screen @ 1024x768, left hand edges aligned. The system generally misbehaves if the latop is undocked and redocked. Undock works as expected, the windows from the CRT display are resized and moved to the laptop display. However a range of problems can occur on redock; The most common is that the CRT just isn't recognised anymore, and I have to reopen the display prefs and re enable the 2nd display (and resize and reposition it). The system behaves as if I'd never connected the monitor before, it didn't just miss the interrupt of having the display attached, but it had reset the settings for some reason. The 'theme' and general appearance of ubuntu can also change - it will switch from 'human' to 'clearlooks'. I've also noticed that this can happen when the system is low on memory. This makes me think that an exception or error somewhere can cause a 'fallback' to the first theme? The most bizarre I've so far seen is that the offsets for the second display became corrupted somehow, and it would only let me position windows in the right hand half of the screen, and maximising windows put them in a thin (~200px wide) slice down the right hand edge. This problem even persisted across reboots, and was only fixed once I'd moved the relative position of the 2nd display a few times. The width of the no-go area on the left was suspiciously close to being 576 (1600-1024) px wide. Perhaps the window manager and the display driver had different values for the screen offsets? I'll be happy to provide any other information. [Bug 529338] Re: [regression-release] Keyring not unlocked on login anymore in Lucid
I'm not using a fingerprint reader. On this machine I am the only user so there is only one password. I posted a screenshot here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=9551450postcount=1 I only get that if I'm using auto-login. If I log in using my password all is fine. I first encountered this behavior in Lucid after applying the following proposed updates: app-install-data-partner (12.10.04) to 12.10.04.3 dpkg (1.15.5.6ubuntu4) to 1.15.5.6ubuntu4.1 empathy (2.30.1.1-0ubuntu1) to 2.30.2-0ubuntu1 empathy-common (2.30.1.1-0ubuntu1) to 2.30.2-0ubuntu1 grub-common (1.98-1ubuntu6) to 1.98-1ubuntu7 grub-pc (1.98-1ubuntu6) to 1.98-1ubuntu7 libatk1.0-0 (1.30.0-0ubuntu2) to 1.30.0-0ubuntu2.1 libatk1.0-data (1.30.0-0ubuntu2) to 1.30.0-0ubuntu2.1 libdbusmenu-glib1 (0.2.9-0ubuntu3) to 0.2.9-0ubuntu3.1 libdbusmenu-gtk1 (0.2.9-0ubuntu3) to 0.2.9-0ubuntu3.1 nautilus-sendto-empathy (2.30.1.1-0ubuntu1) to 2.30.2-0ubuntu1 update-manager (1:0.134.9) to 1:0.134.10 update-manager-core (1:0.134.9) to 1:0.134.10 That was somewhat of an error on my part as I'd intended to only upgrade 'grub-pc' and 'grub-common', but I ended up with the same behavior in Maverick after upgrading the 'grub' packages. I'm unsure that was the actual trigger but it may be However even purging/reverting these packages does not revert to the unbroken state. Strangely I was not able to duplicate this behavior with test installs of Lucid and Maverick on my secondary drive and ATM it appears that I can duplicate this behavior if either Lucid or Maverick are installed using ext3, but NOT if I use ext4. I do however need to perform a few more test installs to be certain and, due to totally unrelated time constraints, that may take a few days. That's why I wonder if others effected by this are all using ext3? Or has anyone seen this if using ext4? Something else I've found while testing for this behavior is that opening any password protected gui (eg: synaptic, gufw, gparted, etc) will always produce this behavior if the problem is present. That is I'll first have to enter my password to unlock keyring and then also on the expected screen to perform administrative tasks. Of course it appears only once after each reboot. -- [regression-release] Keyring not unlocked on login anymore in Lucid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/529338 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-desktop in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 602704] [NEW] Cannot click on window title when window is at top screen edge and mouse at screen edge
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: metacity I have the gnome-panel in mode 'not expand', i.e. it does not fill the whole width of the screen. [Bug 382829] [NEW] Suggested output when printing a file to PDF is technical and generic ~/output.pdf
You have been subscribed to a public bug: In Jaunty, GNOME print dialogs have a Print to File printer available in the Print dialog. When you select this printer, the output file's suggested name is output.pdf and the suggested location is the user's home directory. Even worse, Firefox suggests ~/.ps, which will create an invisible file in the user's home directory, using a file format (postscript) that the user may not understand. output is jargon, has the potential to collide with another file of the same name in the destination directory, and is difficult to remember as it has no relation to the name of the file being printed. Incorporating the source file's name in the output filename seems like a great improvement. Saving to the user's home directory is reasonable, but the Desktop is a more accessible location. We may also want to consider saving the PDF to the same directory as the source file. Suggestion: * Always default to PDF format. * Reuse the source filename if known, else use Untitled or the naming convention for unnamed files. * Default to saving on the Desktop rather than inside the user's home folder. ** Affects: gtk2 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: gtk3 Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: hundredpapercuts Importance: Low Status: Triaged ** Affects: gtk+2.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed -- Suggested output when printing a file to PDF is technical and generic ~/output.pdf https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/382829 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
