[Bug 190227] Re: ia32 apps look for libs on the wrong place
Per Robert's comment 55, there is still an open issue with gdk-pixbuf hard-coding /usr/lib that makes it stop working in the ia32-libs context. The same is true of the gio modules, which have been broken since at least Jaunty. I've opened tasks against each of them. I will also note that libjasper1 is also not in ia32-libs, and gdk- pixbuf depends on it, so it should be added. ** Also affects: gvfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- ia32 apps look for libs on the wrong place https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/190227 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 365448] Re: Cannot burn image using toc file.
Sorry, I completely missed message #4. I'm unable to reproduce the bug: I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04.1 which ships brasero 2.30.2 and when I tried to generate the TOC file, I run into bug #605603. To fix this, I installed Brasero 2.31.2-0renbag2 (from a given PPA) which seems to solve the problem I described (when choosing the TOC file generated by Brasero, the right number of bytes is displayed now and I can burn the image). To summarize, this bug is fixed by the version of Brasero from PPA https://launchpad.net/~renbag/+archive/ppa under Ubuntu 10.04.1. -- Cannot burn image using toc file. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/365448 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 641115] [NEW] nautilus memory leak
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus I'm running Ubuntu Lucid on a Dell XPS M1210 laptop. Nautilus uses ever- increasing amounts of memory on my system (and a fair bit of the CPU, too). This is new in Lucid. In Karmic, Nautilus usually used about 5%-10% of my memory (more if I was viewing lots of photos or something, but the baseline was 10% at the very most). Now it typically uses at least 7% at startup, which increases over time to as much as 30%. This happens even if no Nautilus windows are open. If I kill the nautilus process, when it comes back it uses 70-100% CPU until it's using at least 10% memory again. (I would give absolute numbers here instead of percentages, but I'm not sure which ones are which.) All of this happens regardless of whether I ever open a Nautilus window. I saw other memory-related bugs, but none of them look quite like what I'm experiencing. The bottom line is that Nautilus memory usage wasn't a problem for me in Karmic, but in Lucid it's slowing things down considerably. I'll be happy to post whatever additional information is needed. [Bug 641113] [NEW] Autohidable non-expanded panel jumps from bottom to the top
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel Ubuntu 10.10 maverick x86_64 (development branch) with latest updates. How to reproduce: 1) There should be one panel at top. 2) Add new panel (using popup menu of the top panel). It is added at bottom. 3) Add some application launcher (I added Firefox) to the bottom panel. Probably this step is optional. 4) Make the bottom panel not expanded and auto-hidden: go to its properties and uncheck Expand and check Autohide. See correct-view.png attachment. 5) Logout. 6) Login again. The bottom panel jumps to the top. And when you go to its properties and change orientation to Bottom it reverts to Top again by itself. ** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: 10.10 gnome-panel -- Autohidable non-expanded panel jumps from bottom to the top https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/641113 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 640845] Re: accented characters of CM fonts not available to inkscape
Thanks Alex, yes, I confirm that the cmr10-gimp.png has incorrect typesetting of accented characters. BTW, couple of years ago there used to be (visually) similar problem in OpenOffice.org. It was not related to Computer Modern fonts however; if affected default fonts (and some others too, I think). That time it was easy to cure by loading missing fonts (which were not installed by default). PS I will try to recheck the other inkscape-related issue ASAP, hopefully today. -- accented characters of CM fonts not available to inkscape https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/640845 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gimp in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 640807] Re: Forces low refresh rate on CRT monitor
Ok, so this seems to have been triggered by the change in defaults in version 2.31.91-0ubuntu3 (turn on ext. monitors). Setting 'apps/gnome_settings_daemon/xrandr/turn_on_external_monitors_at_startup' to false for the user gdm made this bug go away in the current version. That key has been introduced with version 2.31.91-0ubuntu1: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/maverick/gnome- settings-daemon/maverick/revision/109/plugins/xrandr/gsd-xrandr- manager.c#plugins/xrandr/gsd-xrandr-manager.c From the ways to get the value for 'config' in the method 'apply_default_boot_configuration', only 'config = make_laptop_setup (screen);' seems to work (= as soon as enabling turn_on_external_monitors_at_startup, I see the 60 Hz). 'make_clone_setup' and 'make_other_setup' will call 'gnome_rr_mode_get_freq' at some point, which will return bogus because my monitor's EDID is invalid. $ xrandr -q xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default Screen 0: minimum 320 x 175, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 1280 x 1024 default connected 1280x1024+0+0 0mm x 0mm 1280x1024 50.0*51.0 53.0 --- Due to all the patches I'm not sure if that's an upstream bug. [Bug 531173] Re: New Lucid keyboard layout indicator does not indicate current layout
The problem I have in comment #19 may not be the same problem as the bug that was reported: with the session indicator applet, the keyboard session indicator shows both the keyboard layout and the keyboard icon (also bad, if you ask me, as it means it takes even more space in the crowded panel). The screenshot in comment #19 is the original standard keyboard indicator that you see from gnome-settings-daemon when there is no session indicator. That in Maverick shows only the keyboard icon. The wishlist thing above is from the GNOME upstream bug that is about getting gnome-settings-daemon to support the session indicator. [Bug 27014] Re: evolution bug, Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync
The problem still persists, with the evolution that come with Ubuntu 10.04. If you want to trigger it, it's quite easy. Create a mail account which is a local mbox folder, which point to a local directory with a couple of mbox files. Then, open one of the files. Exit evolution, and after evolution has exited feed the mboxes via fetchmail/procmail. Restart evolution. You have around 15% probability to see the bug (it happens to me once every 5-7 restarts). Issuing evolution --force-shutdown, and removing the folders.db file from the directory will solve the problem and at the next restart is all ok. Personally I never understood why Ubuntu switched to empathy as default messenger-client which is, according to my view, an incomplete app. -- Provide ability to block a contact https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/557521 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 372132] Re: Create Document Templates difficult to use
Personally I do not see any resolution to this stand off given what appears to me to be narrow-mindedness, coupled with some fear of redundancy in UX. A simple quote; A paper cut is a trivially fixable usability bug that the average user would encounter in default installation of Ubuntu or Kubuntu Desktop Edition. That's the brief. I am an average user and I haven't used Windows for at least 5 years, yet this lack of functionality irks me no end. And to those who wish to argue the all mighty purpose of the Templates folder as designed and implemented as a basis for a fix, to those I ask was it designed to be a half-way house of blank files on their way to the desktop? No I thought not... So I ask why the hesitation, the lack of inclination or stubborn refusal? to explore and develop this nuance into a shortcut of usefulness? Quote (part): Tobias Wolf, no YOU are right (#55). The menu certainly should not be an app launcher alone. It should be a template launcher. The menu should open the app with THE TEMPLATE selected open, and any subsequent additions or alterations saved only as a generic file. The folder should include a ~/path to template.file as a means of adding future templates, rather than have software propagate their templates during installation as was discussed earlier. To me this is a no brainer. And lastly to all here I apologize for my tone and my frustration regarding this matter. -- Create Document Templates difficult to use https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/372132 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
