[Bug 628969] Re: palimpsest crashed with SIGSEGV
Had reported a bug (711599) which has been re-classified as a duplicate of this one. For information the following is supplied (note this was a crash of the application on its own and not the whole system):- Running live CD 10.10 amd64 Ubuntu 10.10 - the Maverick Meerkat Downloaded 26 Jan 2011. Checking partition sizes using Gparted and Diskutility (2.30.1) as there appears to be different information in both programs as to the sizes of created partitions on the same disk. (Do not know why information is not the same but do not believe that this problem relates to reported error - eg same partition is shown as 53GB [53,003,672,064 bytes] in Disk Utility and 49.36GiB in GParted) Had checked partitions using Gparted and was then checking same partitions with Disk Utility when this application failed - had been using Check Filesystem option. Error was repeatable when checking sixth partiton in sequence caused error to reoccur. Partition checked on its own did not cause error. Error seems to occur when a sixth partition is checked. Alternating check with two partition also reproduces error on sixth check. System had not been rebooted at time of re-test. Partitions were EXT4 on a 320GB WD PATA disk Firmware 12.01B10 Not sure if this has a security implication or not. Hope that this is of some use. There usually is a power indicator if your computer has a battery (if it is a laptop usually), so it must be something with your hardware's compatibility. Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Could you please run apport-collect 711862 from the terminal? You might also want to take a look at the debugging instructions located at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingGNOMEPowerManager and submit any other logs related to your problem. Thanks in advance. [Bug 482597] Re: Empathy dialpad tones don't work
For a change I will comment to say that something DOES work, instead of the opposite. Just tried this with our local Asterisk server and calling an external line using a commercial voip trunk, and I can confirm that the Dialpad DOES indeed work perfectly with these: -Linux 2.6.35-25-generic #44-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 21 17:40:44 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux -Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat -telepathy-sofiasip 0.6.3-1 -empathy 2.32.1-0ubuntu1.1 I can also confirm that i would have NEVER found it if not for Darik Horn's previous post in this bug report, and even having it, it took me a moment until I noticed that Audio Input was actually a listbox with the option Autio Input selected, although that's perhaps theme's fault (I use Ubuntu 10.10 with the standard theme). So, this is not a bug, specially not in the underlying communication plug-in (telepathy-sofiasip), but Empathy clearly needs some GUI modifications so that finding the keypad is not 'so absolutely imposible'. Maybe allowing pressing numbers even if the pad is unseen? Maybe bringing up the pad when a number is pressed? How about showing the keypad by default when you open the sidebar instead of the volume levels? [Bug 712091] Re: fallback message contains poor grammar
Agreed, this is probably a bad experience to give users. It can pop up in cases where there is nothing wrong with the hardware, just that the software isn't up to snuff. The dialog is ok for alpha releases but should be revisited by beta. I don't think the dialog should start recommending installing different drivers, that just seems like fail. If we know newer drivers solve the issues then they should be packaged and installed. Honestly I think this is a case where no warning message would be better. If they know the difference between classic and unity, it'll be obvious that they're not running unity; this dialog doesn't add to their knowledge in that situation. If they don't know the difference, then this dialog will just confuse them and make them worry that Ubuntu is broken. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/712091 Title: fallback message contains poor grammar -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Right, I'd think that jockey would just recommend installing the proprietary driver if it is appropriate for the hardware.

[Bug 120251] Re: security check failed
This problem is due to your provider. Some providers reject calls if the PDUs come from different ports. And this is what Ekiga is doing. I will try to contact my provider because I guess that Ekiga is sip conform and so the provider needs to adopt its configuration. But I'm also not an expert. I just found this explanation during my own research on the web. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120251 Title: security check failed -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
