[Bug 803992] Re: Natty update introduced crasher in xorg
I had the very same problem (CRITICAL: gdm_session_direct_get_username: assertion `session != NULL' failed) in syslog, startx works), only the line number in the message was different. I found that my problem was caused by using autologin. As a workaround I went to administration/user accounts and put the autologin off for my account After that a reboot brought be to the gdm sesssion selection screen. Now I can specify the session to start and gnome classic does work for me (didn't try the others). You might get a message the first reboot that gnome failed or so. Note that my gnome login screen is still on autologin; it is just uer accounts/autologin that I turned off. (btw turning it on again made the problem reappear, I hoped that after setting a proper session things would work, but to no avail; guess it has to be kept off for now). Hope this helps for you guys too. Hi, My best guess here is that the problem is specific to VMWare. You may feel free to start debugging yourself - I hope the guidelines in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures can be of use. Please report what you find here. I'll leave the status as 'Incomplete' until someone else using VMware can confirm. Just a quick experiment I suggest is to use the terminal 'mv' command to move files (cut and paste) rather than Nautilus. Does the mv command give any error or cause the terminal to crash? [Bug 762918] Re: Natty Screensaver freezes system after some period of inactivity
I updated my kernel to 2.6.38-10, which I had hoped would eliminate the problem, but I just had the same freeze while the fuzzy flakes screensaver was on. Going to Ctrl-Alt-F1 and using the command: $killall gnome-screensaver did not do anything at all. I haven't tried any other fixes yet. I use Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to restart X, which is really not ideal and doesn't always work - sometimes I can see the login screen, and other times it loads the login screen but the screen stays black. I can manoeuvre the mouse cursor to the bottom right corner, click, and use the down button on my keyboard to select Restart, which I have to do from memory as I can't see anything. Hi, Ok. I will update when I find anything. I tried mv in terminal and there is no problem (it does not crash). I tried mv within home directory and between /home and /tmp. There is no problem. [Bug 783233] Re: Evolution can't correctly handle multiple accounts with same address
It's extremely annoying to have bugs that you've filed expire when there's no indication of any expectation of further input, no indication that anything is happening at all etc. The bug as stated exists, and if something needs to be done to keep it live here, then that should be notified rather than just letting it expire. Very frustrated - this seems to be a common occurrence. ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Status: Expired = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/783233 Title: Evolution can't correctly handle multiple accounts with same address To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/783233/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
