[Bug 1000545] Re: Update to 3.5.2
As Cimi pointed out it seems to be a packaging bug as the theme modules weren't being loaded. I've fixed that by adding back debian/patches/061_multiarch_module_fallback.patch as the theme packages don't have the modules in a versioned library directory. However GTK+ now crashes when loading the modules, so more investigation required. ** Changed in: light-themes (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Invalid ** Changed in: gtk+3.0 (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Committed = In Progress ** Changed in: gtk+3.0 (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Robert Ancell (robert-ancell) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+3.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1000545 Title: Update to 3.5.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+3.0/+bug/1000545/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1002700] [NEW] users-admin doesn't completely delete user accounts
Public bug reported: users-admin doesn't completely delete user accounts when the user's home folder has been encrypted and the user has logged in at least once. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a new user using users-admin, making sure to check Encrypt home folder to protect sensitive data 2. Log into new user account 3. Log out and back into original user account 4. Using users-admin, attempt to delete newly created account, opting to delete home folder. The account will disappear from the list of user accounts however the account hasn't been properly deleted and will reappear if users-admin is started again and will also appear in the login manager. The home directory has been deleted but the account persists in /etc/passwd. Accounts are properly deleted when the user's home folder is not encrypted or the user hasn't logged in at least once. [Bug 682788] Re: Improve Unity menus
This is a perfect use case fur the HUD. Press alt. No, the HUD is only good when you know exactly what command you want to run , i.e. you're an experienced user, and then only if the application supports it. The menu should always be visible for reasons of dicsoverability and usability. How can anyone know that a menu is even there if you don't show it? Some applications have one and some don't. We can also argue that having a global menu for anything make the user maximize because this user don't want to move his mouse all over his desk to only reveal a menu ... Move his mouse all over his desk? I have a very high resolution monitor and it takes about 0.2 seconds, and about 1-2cm of mouse movement, to move my mouse from the bottom corner to the top corner of the screen. I am using Ubuntu 12 with the default mouse sensitivity settings. A new user won't mind moving his mouse that 1-2cm. An very experienced user will use the HUD or other shortcuts. Surely the aim is to make users comfortable enough with applications until they can only use the HUD or shortcuts? [Bug 682788] Re: Improve Unity menus
I suggested the exact same thing due to this other bug: New windows are moved to front but don't take focus https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/781931/comments/31 TOO MUCH CLICKING! Apps and menus should follow mouse over focus. Will fix many issues. I use fullscreen apps a lot. This is how I would prefer it: Default: Fullscreen apps should always show global menus. Do not hide. Minimized apps should have the menus locally integrated, less distance to travel to get to menu! Optional: Hide global menus non-locally integrated menus on minimized apps The highest foreground app must by default grab focus Any app you move your mouse over must get Menu focus, don't bring to foreground though! interacting with the focused app will bring it to foreground, like keyboard input. Love unity and all the features. But the focus and global menu thing is a bit annoying. Romano: these hidden interface elements (menu+window controls) actually does not work on tablet devices without mouse, as it is not possible to move the mouse pointer without clicking. Re: [Bug 682788] Re: Improve Unity menus
If these comments reveal anything it's that different people want to work in different ways. Those of us whose other main machines are Macs want a permanently visible global menu; those whose other machines are Windows, or just came from earlier versions of Gnome, want menus attached to the windows, and a variety of other options - wow, people still do focus-follows-mouse? :-P TBH I think most of the problem here has been the recent-years fetish with removing user preferences for this stuff; that's what makes the decision to go with the wrong paradigm as default a major PITA for already-competent users rather than a minor annoyance that's fixed within a minute or two of first logging into a new system. Choose whatever default behaviour you want for the new-to-ubuntu user; but give the rest of us *choices*! It's good to see that seems to be the way the current thinking is leading; I just hope we all get the choices we want. :-) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/682788 Title: Improve Unity menus To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/682788/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1002950] [NEW] users-admin doesn't add administrative users to sudo group

GVFS sends two requests to the WebDAV service: the first - without credentials, the second - with credentials. When it sends the first request, cpdavd sends the response Authorization Required and closes the connection. After that GVFS sends the second request via the closed connection and server sends a TCP-packet with RST flag as a response. As a result GVFS generates an error Not a WebDAV enabled share. I think GVFS must check the connection before it sends the second request and reinitialize the connection if it has been closed by server. To reproduce the problem just try to open address dav://cpanel1.fozzy.com:2077 in Nautilus with any username and password. You can see full tcpdump output in the attachment. ** Affects: gvfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: cpdavd gvfs nautilus webdav -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1002968 Title: GVFS fails to connect to cpdavd via WebDAV To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/1002968/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1002950] Re: users-admin doesn't add administrative users to sudo group
This also has the side effect that users-admin will allow deletion of the last remaining true administrator account. Administrative accounts are presumably considered such due to their membership in the adm group, but newly created administrative accounts lack such privileges. users- admin will then happily attempt to remove all other administrative accounts that actually do have admin permissions, such as the account created during installation. (The account won't properly be removed however due to bug #1002700.) I'm not sure that this should be filed as a new bug as it appears to be a side effect of this bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-system-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1002950 Title: users-admin doesn't add administrative users to sudo group To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-system-tools/+bug/1002950/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I've found that downgrading to libutouch-geis (2.1.2-0ubuntu4) from oneiric resolves the issue. $ wget http://mirror.anl.gov/pub/ubuntu//pool/main/u/utouch-geis/libutouch-geis1_2.1.2-0ubuntu4_amd64.deb $ sudo dpkg -i libutouch-geis1_2.1.2-0ubuntu4_amd64.deb $ echo libutouch-geis1 hold | sudo dpkg --set-selections -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/997630 Title: evince and eog broken on remote sessions (X, NX, x2go and VNC) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/utouch-geis/+bug/997630/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 992619] Re: Empathy does not login - Error contacting the Account Manager

[Bug 984785] Re: .goutputstream files polluting $HOME
Notice, how lightdm was not present on Dennis machine when file created, then it comes up and dissapears. Maybe lightdm was actually running. This would be possible: - ps logs running processes (started by my script) - lightdm starts and creates .goutputstream* - next run of ps But it could also be possible, that lightdm was started later. I will repeat this test and comment later again. How do you know it runs with userid 1000? How to check it on my computer? In my script: ps -o comm -U 1000 -u 1000 ps-log.out man ps -U userlist Select by real user ID (RUID) or name. -u userlist Select by effective user ID (EUID) or name. So this command only logs processes running with real or effective UID 1000. That is the UID of the user created at installation. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/984785 Title: .goutputstream files polluting $HOME To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/lightdm/+bug/984785/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1002537] Re: Shotwell Send To Email doesn't attach multiple photos
Hi Alex, I am not able to reproduce this issue. How large are the individual images you are trying to send? What is their format? [Bug 990725] Re: Shotwell will not detect mts moviefiles on memory card
Is this happening when you connect the camera directly? Do you see the same behaviour if you mount the card in question as removeable mass storage?
