[Bug 996076] Re: gedit latex plugin does not work
I think this bug has a workaround. I'm not sure this will work on 12.04, for I'm still using 11.10 and it worked there. The idea is to copy /usr/share/gedit/plugins/latex/tools.xml over $HOME/.config/gedit/latex/tools.xml using root user priviledges. This will prevent the local file to be overwritten, because everytime gedit is opened the local tools.xml gets corrupted. This also implies that you cannot edit this file as a normal user through the plugin Preferences dialog. An alternative method would be to copy the file as superuser, change ownership to a normal user, modify the tools through the Preferences dialog, and then change the ownership back to root. I didn't have the time to have a look at the code to find out the reasons for this silly behavior (i.e. why most of the text in the local tools.xml gets chopped off), so someone is strongly encouraged to do so and come up with a fix for this. Cheers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gedit-plugins in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/996076 Title: gedit latex plugin does not work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit-plugins/+bug/996076/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I have experienced the same issue. Unfortunately the whole of empathy hung, so I could not access Debug menu. Only an xkill or killall would close empathy. [Bug 1015041] [NEW] Conflict between NTP and NTPDATE
Public bug reported: Hi, if you select time synchronisation over the internet, NTP must be installed (offered in the dialog) . This results in a waiting loop (1 minute) after log in. [Bug 1015073] [NEW] [soundnua] Can't select Digital stereo duplex profile
Public bug reported: How to reproduce: 1) Go to output tab and select Digital Output (S/PDIF) 2) Go to input tab and select iec958-digital-input 3) Go back to output tab, notice that Digital Output (S/PDIF) is no longer selected. [Bug 1014155] Re: File copy progress window invisible in Launcher and Workspaces
I had not seen it among my bookmarks, but now I do see it. It sometimes works. So I'm wrong that there is no method for requesting to see the file operations window. However, the method is not reliable. I'm doing an SSD-to-SSD copy, which is slowing the system a lot. Echoing of this text within the web browser is often many characters behind what I'm typing. [Bug 1013171] Re: Many package hooks not ported to python3
Hi all - I was starting to redo the dkms patch, but it looks like Brian's taking that. Thanks for the Thanks. :) For future ref, I have email addresses on my LP page, so this makes me wonder if they're properly visible. There are two, anyway, and edward.dono...@numble.net would be the better one to use. The launchpad@numble is where bug mail goes, for filtering. Maybe that's not the smoothest way to do it. (Maybe this process question is best asked somewhere else; I don't know.) I'm also a uncertain, after reading your comments, if the patches should be redone, to work better with python 2 or 3, as you're talking about. When there was a print statement in these hooks, my little patches just made it a python 3 function, with parentheses. I was just thinking about python 3 compatibility, and didn't add any from __future__ import print_statement lines. Would it be best to redo them, that way? [Bug 771896] Re: No way to save current session
Hello, As this bug is marked as Fixed I just wanted to make clear that GNOME_SESSION_SAVE=TRUE does *NOT* work in Ubuntu 12.04 Classic (updated to date, so with the released fix). No window/application is saved and re-opened/re-launched on startup. I understand that it should be marked as pending until it is proven to work, what seems not for other users as for the last comments. I find, as many, this feature not only useful but necessary for day-a-day use. It is often more useful a window opened in the last session than any post-it. This is the kind of issues keeping away previous users of GNOME2. I would like to contribute something but sadly I am not programmer/developer of any kind. I hope to see some progress soon. [Bug 1007133] Re: Evolution locks up under KDE in Kubuntu 12.04 when setting an alarm on an appointment
More info - really, really want to get around this bug, as I need evolution in my company to be able to use the exchange server there. I currently use gnome3, and I actually quite like the user interface except for only a very few things that one obviously cannot change. But then gnome 3 seems to depend on mono now, and that's really yuck! In my desperation I tried lxde and found out an interesting aspect. In lxde evolution works, unless you select the oxygen-gtk style for the user interface. Then I get the exact same lockups in evolution as described above. As in KDE the oxygen-gtk style is also used for gnome applicatons (afaik), it seems that evolution has problems with this style or that the style causes problems in evolution. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1007133 Title: Evolution locks up under KDE in Kubuntu 12.04 when setting an alarm on an appointment To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/1007133/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

@Vinh sorry I didn't see your request. I have a later version than you, 3.2.2. If you have an earlier Ubuntu release, maybe try the work-around I linked to in the first comment? The good news is that this issue may have been fixed in Ubuntu precise 12.04. I just installed that on a new machine and I don't seem to have the issue. Although the offending code still seems to be there, so I'm not sure what's going on. I don't currently have the time to upgrade the machines that had the issue before. [Bug 1014876] Re: No option to create a New Document from context menu
at this point the bug seems a duplicate of bug #372132? Possibly The difference would be that this has been a default supplied option (r. clicck new docu..) that users have have had available in prior Ubuntu releases for some time. Whether using 'Templates' is difficult I'm not in a position to judge how difficult it would be for users to figure out or even if it would be missed (though I guarantee many current Ubuntu users will notice it's gone. Maybe that's something for user studies or design What does come up is it seems nautilus has a 'built-in' template for text, but it won't show until something is placed in the Templates folder. So if a user puts a text file 'template in, then they can get 2 options for the same thing. So that may be confusing instead of difficult -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1014876 Title: No option to create a New Document from context menu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1014876/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1015342] [NEW] Tools/manage tools/shortcuts: More help while defining shortcuts
Public bug reported: I enjoy much the possibility to define my own tools, and combine them with shortcuts. I admit that it wouldn't be wise to redefine the mosts often used ones like Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V. However, I often write programs in Scala or Java and like to compile and run them by hotkeys. I have ALT-j (java) and Ctrl-J (javac) defined, and would like to use something for Scala, but Ctrl-S is already used for Save. The first problem with this is, that it isn't indicated, that the keystroke is occupied by something else, it is even shown in the menu. Since the keys are spread all over the menu, it is hard to find a free one. I thought, that Ctrl-K would be a nice alternative, since K can be pronounced like C in German in many cases, and kompilieren would be easy to recognize. It's occupied too for inKremental search which I rarely use, and so we approach the 3rd aspect of this problem: If I could define an Image to be shown in the toolbar, or building a button from words like scalac, scala, ..., the accessibility would be much better. Conclusion: I have 3 related feature-requests: * inform the user, if a hotkey is occupied * allow the user to overwrite hotkeys (ask for confirmation to avoid accidentally overwriting popular commands, the user didn't think of) * allow the user to define buttons for the toolbar - (by image, by words, by both). Thanks for your help. If you rewrite Gedit from Scratch in Java or Scala, I would submit a patch. :) Btw.: I'm still using Gedit 2.30.3 which came with XUbuntu 10.04, but I consulted the List of changes since then, and found no related entry.
