[Bug 1741839] Re: gdm3 lock screen/gnome-shell freeze after opening laptop lid

2018-02-22 Thread Daniel van Vugt
It sounds like you have just installed the fix for bug 1724259.

Please verify by running:
  dpkg -s libinput10 | grep Version

Please also let us know if the bug reoccurs after that.

[Bug 1741839] Re: gdm3 lock screen/gnome-shell freeze after opening laptop lid

2018-02-22 Thread Yassine
How can I check which version of libinput I have? I was only able to
check the version of libinput-tools using apt-cache policy and that
package's version is 1.8.2-1ubuntu2. I do not know if those 2 packages
are the same or if their versions can differ from each other. I
installed all updates today with the software updater.

[Bug 1751175] [NEW] Rhythmbox does not save metadata for FLAC files

2018-02-22 Thread Sean Fitzpatrick
Public bug reported:

Since upgrading to Ubuntu 17.10, Rhythmbox does not record the metadata
entered in the "Extract" interface when converting CDs to FLAC files. (I
have not checked to see if the same is true with mp3.)

Expected behaviour: I load a CD, and Rhythmbox loads the metadata for
the album from MusicBrainz (or I enter it manually if the album is not
found). If I click Extract, the CD is converted to my preferred file
format (in this case, FLAC), and the metadata is added to the resulting
files.

This was the case on Ubuntu 17.04 and earlier.

Current behaviour: metadata is loaded from MusicBrainz as usual, but
when I extract, most of it is not added to the files.

If the metadata provided is Track Number, Artist, Album, Title, Genre,
Disc number, and Year, I see the following:

The title that results is the file name, for example:
James Ehnes - 02 - Ravel: Berceuse sur le nom de Gabriel Fauré.flac

The Artist, Album, Track Number, and Genre tags are not written.

Curiously, the Disc number and year tags *are* written.

More curiously, as a file is being converted, all the tags display in
Rhythmbox as expected. But the moment the extraction reaches the end of
the file, and the file is saved, the tags disappear.

ProblemType: Bug

Package: rhythmbox 3.4.1-2ubuntu5

[Bug 1749895] Re: Mouse & Keyboard completely unresponsive when starting a VM

2018-02-22 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I'm talking about changing the driver in the guest, on the assumption
this bug was reported from the guest (which is what we need). However
now that you mention it, you probably reported this from the host so the
above logs would be misleading and probably irrelevant...

If that's correct then unfortunately we'll need to leave the status as
Incomplete until someone can figure out how to get some useful
information out of the VM/guest itself.

[Bug 1749895] Re: Mouse & Keyboard completely unresponsive when starting a VM

2018-02-22 Thread Enigma
I'm not sure but can try. The issue is that the system freezes when
trying to start the VM at all so it doesn't get far enough.

Are you sure you don't mean to install the -evdev package in the host?

[Bug 1750741] Re: Memory leak in g_dbus_proxy_new_for_bus_sync()

2018-02-22 Thread Dan Streetman
Seyeong,

+ - d/p/0001-GDBusProxy-Fix-a-memory-leak-during-
initialization.patch

this fixes a memory leak, but in later code than the Trusty glib2.0 code

+ - d/p/0001-tests-gdatetime-Use-a-real-rather-than-invented-
time.patch

this fixes an autopkgtest regression, that's unrelated to this memleak
bug - it's ok to include in the same upload, but it needs its own lp
bug. This is also needed in xenial glib2.0.

+ - d/p/0001-gio-Add-names-to-idles-and-timeouts.patch
+ - d/p/0002-gio-belatedly-port-gdbus-from-GSimpleAsyncResult-to-.patch

these patches are huge backports, that update the glib2.0 code to use a
different function that appears to *introduce* the memleak that your
first patch "fixes". Are you sure there is actually a memleak in the
Trusty glib2.0 code? If so, it does not seem to be the one that your
first patch fixes. In any case, this huge backport is not acceptable as
a SRU for only a memleak.

Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at

[Bug 1750741] Re: Memory leak in g_dbus_proxy_new_for_bus_sync()

2018-02-22 Thread Seyeong Kim
Hello ddstreet

yep, it is tricky..

In the beginning, I added only one line but build failed.

3 commits for building, only one line is related to memroy leak
directly.

I retried it and attaching build link on lp

Thanks

[Bug 1713323] Re: HiDPI support partially broken after upgrade to Gnome 3.25, 3.26

Fresh Ubuntu 17.10 has the issue of showing Qt apps non-scaled. Should
we reopen the
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1717272 issue,
continue here, or make a new one? What's the way to go?

[Bug 1245473] Re: Binding ctrl+shift, alt+shift, etc for switching keyboard layout makes shortcuts with ctrl+shift, etc not working in any program

2018-02-22 Thread cfontes
I am running 17.10 with MATE, and this bug is still happening, I report it was
working in 16.04 with Mate and after upgrading I have a working layout switcher
between 2 languages but all Shift+Alt derived shortcuts specially the ones in
IDEA are not working anymore

 User rant

Well I will add my complain,

This is one of those "I fell like switching back to windows" kind of
bug, the kind that make you stop before recommending ubuntu to your
friends and family, the one when people point it out to you, you simply
lower your head and nod.

This is super old and terrible for any shortcut user in a multi language
setup, which are most of developers I know of.

In 17.10 not even the Xorg recompile is working anymore, for some
magical reason in 16.04 this was fixed maybe by Dell(I have a dell
ubuntu machine) or someone else, as soon as I updated to 17.10 it
appeared again.

It's really infuriating to start my IDE everyday with this on.

In my case, layout switcher for keyboards is working ( probably because
of some of config from 16.04) but all Shift+Alt derived shortcuts
specially the ones in IDEA are not. So no more fancy multi caret edit
for me, or fast renaming, or line switching I am basically missing some
of the the good stuff IDEA provides and was payed for because of a 10
year old bug.

That disaster that was Unity was build and killed during the time bug
has been around.

[Bug 1732704] Re: Window opened with shortcut custom global shortcut does not get focus

2018-02-22 Thread Krister
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected artful

** Description changed:

I have a custom shortcut set to open google translate in firefox. If
I'm using firefox already, this key combination will open a new firefox
window with translate, yet it will not have focus.

This is problematic in that I must then type to focus the
  window.

  Steps:

  1. create a custom shortcut to the command "/usr/bin/firefox --browser
  --new-window translate.google.com"

  2. open a firefox window.
  3. type the shortcut.
  4. see that the window does not have focus (even if it may appear in front!)
