[Bug 315452] Re: blank DVD disc is untranslated in the Select application to open dialog
I found this bug recently too: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=572888. The string comes from the shared-mime-info domain, which is translated via the Translation Project: http://translationproject.org/domain/shared-mime-info.html Now the problem is, that due to the obsolete work flow TP is using, translations always lag one release behind the actual code. s-m-i uses a huge single xml file to store the translations, that is filled with translations at build time, so the language packs do not help out either. Only exporting the po files and putting them back to the sources (or moving s-m-i to a more recent translation management system) before build would help, but this is a Launchpad feature of the future :(. -- blank DVD disc is untranslated in the Select application to open dialog https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/315452 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to glib2.0 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 335693] [NEW] Regression: updating existing .desktop file translations via langpacks no longer possible
Public bug reported: Superseded in jaunty-release on 2009-01-30 glib2.0 (2.19.5-0ubuntu2) jaunty; urgency=low * 01_gettext-desktopfiles.patch: Merge OpenSUSE's and our patch: - Now prefers inline translations over gettext translations, which fixes a few corner cases (like renaming .desktop files on the user's desktop), is more in line with the recent gconf patch, and more palatable for upstream inclusion. This change introduced a regression: If a .desktop file already has an inline translation, which is considered wrong for some reason, the updated translation from the .mo file does not get used even if it's newer, not the same, or considered correct compared to the existing one in the file. This effectively eliminates the usefulness of the X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain magic, isn't it? An example is Synaptic: https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/jaunty/+source/synaptic/+pots/synaptic/hu/679/+translate While the .mo file contains the Current Hungarian translation, this is not used until I manually remove the old Packaged string from /usr/share/applications/synaptic.desktop. [Bug 514240] [NEW] Translations should be stripped from the .desktop file
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: f-spot F-Spot uses language packs, which include the translations of its .desktop file. These are imported into Launchpad and then exported. Normally, before they are imported, they are stripped from the source .desktop file, which is then shipped with no translations, which will actually be loaded from the .mo files in the language packs (see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/Internationalisation#Desktop%20Entries). However, the .desktop file is shipped with full translations, which override those in the language packs. In order for them to be stripped, the X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain must be added to the .desktop file. ** Affects: ubuntu-translations Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: f-spot (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: needs-desktop-entry-i18n ** Also affects: f-spot Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Project changed: f-spot = utbb ** Project changed: utbb = ubuntu-translations -- Translations should be stripped from the .desktop file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/514240 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to f-spot in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 572922] Re: Several items in the menu was not translated into zh_CN.
This happened because gcalctool was downgraded to 2.28, and the template is from 2.30.
