[Desktop-packages] [Bug 872442] [NEW] jockey-kde tries to install driver as user
You have been subscribed to a public bug: After installing kubuntu-desktop having installed the GNOME-based Ubuntu Oneiric, I found the Jockey restricted driver installer by searching in the K menu. It showed me the choice of ATI restricted drivers, but when I clicked Activate, it told me I did not have the privileges necessary to perform the action, i.e. it had not invoked sudo (or its equivalent) and was trying to install the driver as me, rather than as root. ** Affects: jockey (Ubuntu) Importance: Low Status: Fix Committed ** Tags: jockey-kde oneiric -- jockey-kde tries to install driver as user https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/872442 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to jockey in Ubuntu. -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Prior to suspend/resume testing, tests ran that verified that the bluetooth controller was detected and that I could connect and use a bluetooth mouse. After suspend/resume, these tests are conducted again to verify that bluetooth still functions. In this case, bluetooth fails to work after suspend/resume. The bluetooth icon in the indicator area shows that bluetooth is on. However, if you access the menu, there are no options available (as though bluetooth was disabled.) I then open the properties dialog and it shows Bluetooth as being disabled. I tried using the slider to turn bluetooth back on but it just jumps back to off and never turns bluetooth back on. Eliminates (otherwise harmless) crashes. (LP: #862161, LP: #862998, LP: #861804, LP: #861548) - Wait for check_gl_texture_size no longer than 500msec. Ensures that this check will not block the desktop, as in (LP: #871188). * Remove debian-changes patch which accidentally reverted the change meant to be applied in 3.2.0-0ubuntu4. -- Christopher James Halse Rogers r...@ubuntu.com Tue, 11 Oct 2011 10:30:22 +1100 ** Changed in: gnome-desktop3 (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Committed = Fix Released ** Changed in: gnome-desktop3 (Ubuntu Oneiric) Status: Fix Committed = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-desktop3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/861804 Title: check_gl_texture_size crashed with SIGABRT in raise() Status in “gnome-desktop3” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “gnome-desktop3” source package in Oneiric: Fix Released Bug description: Automatic crash report. If a file is downloaded and directly opened, this can cause confusion for some. This occurred after the upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10 and was not the case before the upgrade. This is a major inconvenience for me and - I'm sure - many others, though it is easy to manually fix by right clicking on the file, going to properties - open with - click the radio button for LibreOffice - set as default (near the bottom-left of the window). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 876273] [NEW] Banshee won't sync my music with my Sansa Clip+
Public bug reported: Just upgraded to 11.10 the other day, and decided to try out the Banshee media player as it seems to be the default. (Used to use Rhythmbox, which worked pretty well.) When I plug in my Sansa Clip+, Nautilus opens it up like a flash drive as it usually does (with the media player icon), and it's detected by Banshee as Rockbox Device. I have Rockbox on it, however, Rockbox currently doesn't support USB mode on the Clip+, so I always have it booted in the original Clip+ firmware when I have it hooked to my computer. Banshee lets me see the music I have on it, and I can play music from it fine, however if I set it so I sync my entire music collection to it, and then hit sync, a little progress bar appears at the bottom right of the screen going back and forth, never accomplishing anything. There's a red X button near the progress bar, and if I hit it, I get This operation is still performing work. Would you like to stop it? with Continue and Stop buttons. If I hit stop, it will say Stopping... above the progress bar, and the red X will become greyed out, but nothing ever changes after that. I can hit the disconnect button to eject my media player, and that works successfully, but the progress bar still sits there saying Stopping If I try to close Banshee while the progress bar is still going back and forth, I get this window: http://i.imgur.com/XNyOJ.png ** Affects: banshee (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to banshee in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/876273 Title: Banshee won't sync my music with my Sansa Clip+ Status in “banshee” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Just upgraded to 11.10 the other day, and decided to try out the Banshee media player as it seems to be the default. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 875153] Re: Time of installing, uninstalling or updating in history view does not respect 24 hour format
This is a translation issue for pl_PL, as the time format is a translatable string, and the Polish translation[1] is the same as the one used in the default translation, however it should be %H:%M to use proper 24-hour formatting (see the suggestion on [1]). The bug in software-center however is that the translator comment, although specified, is not exported to the PO file, so it's not shown, and the translators are not aware of it's existence. The translator comment (# Translators : time displayed in history, display hours (0-12), minutes and AM/PM. %H should be used instead of %I to display hours 0-24) should probably be right above the line with the translatable string. I recompiled gnome-terminal with debugging symbols and traced it in gdb. Fist I see: Waiting for network configuration... Then I see: Waiting up to 60 more seconds for network configuration... And then it just hangs forever displaying the following: Booting system without full network configuration... Nothing happens after that, no matter how long I wait. However, I can switch to the console with CTRL-ALT-F1 and log in from there. The network is configured with DHCP and it works just fine from the console. I do not understand what the GUI boot display is waiting for. I installed the system using the alternate install CD to get LVM based partitions with full disk encryption. Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: In previous versions of Ubuntu, typing in nautilus selects the first file that starts with that sequence. In Oneiric, in most cases it doesn't. When it does, the sequence field comes up but when I try to erase characters from it using backspace, it sends me back in directory visit history. This is very annoying because I am used to only navigating directories with my keyboard. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 875156] Re: Navigating with just keyboard commands is broken
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 857710 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/857710 ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 857710 File selection by typing is buggy sometimes -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/875156 Title: Navigating with just keyboard commands is broken Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: When typing the name of a file with the in window searcher thing (see attached screenshot, I have no idea what this is called) it no longer works properly. Expected behaviour is that: 1) You open a new folder window 2) Start typing the name of a file or folder in that directory 3) You press enter to traverse your file system 4) repeat step 2 What I am getting is that after I begin typing the searcher tool disappears and stops functioning or it will work once then after I go into a new directory stops working then. Not only this but the text seems to stay there when I use it after moving to a new directory so you might type something like go and enter to select the folder named 'good' and enter it, however when you attempt to type 'bad', you will end up with gobad in the searcher textbox because the window didn't wipe out the go text upon entering the next window.
