Re: Contribute to Apache Software Foundation
Hi Raghav, Unfortunately, I don't know much about GSOC. But you can select any project you like. Projects sorted by language can be found here: https://projects.apache.org/projects.html?language and by topic here: https://projects.apache.org/projects.html?category That might help you to narrow down the options. Once you select a project you interested to contribute to, you can contact with contributors (developers) there. If you need help getting introduced to the project community, please don't hesitate to ask. Usually, a project has a guide on how to contribute and provides a list of easy tickets to start with. Probably I will be able to help with guiding you in that project. Welcome aboard! Re: Survey Request from Sherae Daniel
Kevin - thanks for the introduction! Hi Sherae We have many people from other Apache projects that are subscribed to the Community Development (ComDev) mailing list that could be interested in participating in the survey or help spreading the word about it. I think that ComDev could help support your survey request by using our mailing list to: * post details about the survey * post the link to the survey * send out a reminder to complete the survey We could also use our ComDev twitter account to tweet the above details. Please let me know if this will be OK for you. Thanks Sharan On 22.9.2018 14:41, Kevin A. McGrail wrote: Sharan, I sent her request separately. Survey Request from Sherae Daniel

However, the board has deferred the request to our Community Development and Sharan Foga is our VP of that group. Sharan, I sent her request separately. Could you please let her and I know how we might be able to support her request? > Are you able to see my CFP? Yes! I see that it is submitted. I'll be reviewing them so I haven't looked further so I don't prejudge the submissions. We have 21 submissions to date. Regards, KAM -- Kevin A. Sherae Daniel Survey Request
The board did not like the idea of sending a survey to committers@. I think this one is different because they came to us via a project (Fineract) and they want to do a presso at an event we are doing with an OSS career topic. To me, it's well aligned and would justify the exception. The issue has been deferred to ComDev. Will send another email in a moment with Sherae. Forwarded Message Subject:Fwd: Fineract Developer Careers Date: Tue, 18 Sep 2018 16:46:54 -0400 From: Kevin A. McGrail To: Apache Board CC: fundrais...@apache.org Directors, Sherae Daniel, Ph.D., at University of Cincinatti wishes to solicit our committers for a survey on OSS and Careers. She would then be interested in presenting the results at the roadshow. They are willing to make a donation to the ASF as well. Her introduction letter and CV are attached. I think it's an interesting idea that I support with or without the donation. Because it's for Academia, I support the request that I would likely decline for a corporation. Any history on such requests? Does the board have feedback on how fundraising should respond to the request? Regards, KAM -- Kevin A.
