The new "_default" configset (SOLR-10272) has a testing copy at
{{solr/core/src/test-files/solr/configsets/_default/}} - there is a test that
checks that the two are in sync:

Does PointType need Trie* fields? No, PointType is tested as working with points by PolyFieldTest. I hit the JSON facets issue just recently when implementing search for one of our clients and it was a bit disappointing to me (and strange to the customer) that the syntax/format of the call API would determine what you have in your schema.
