Re: [slim] Combining two filestore trees
Thanks for the replies folks. You are right that 'Browse Artist' is a good way to do this. I do this on my main SB2 setup, and in fact without this option I would never have sorted my library into the two trees. However, I've recently added a Boom to the system. The Boom remote has no letter keys, and I've yet to find a convenient way to jump to a letter of the alphabet in 'Browse Artist' (maybe I've missed something here). I know I can hold the scroll keys to scroll faster, which helps a bit, but I still find it more convenient at times to navigate the folder tree. I have a feeling that to make use of the shortcut idea I'll need to put shortcuts to every folder that's at the end of each branch (ie the individual albums) into a common tree structure. Obviously that'll be too many albums to do manually, so I'm going to look into an automated approach. I recall a program (?cakewalk?) that allowed me to recurse through a folder structure and carry out the same string of commands at every level, so if I can just find out the batch command for adding a shortcut I'll be nearly there. -- chill chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=61905 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Combining two filestore trees
Hmm - just did a quick test. I created a dummy top level folder, and then created shortcuts to a couple of album folders. I pointed SC to the dummy top level folder, then cleared and rescanned. SC sees the shortcuts as folders, but doesn't seem to see the contents. I'll redo this test when I have more time, but at first sight it seems that I'll need to create shortcuts to every single file in the filestore. On reflection, if this is the case, I think I might as well copy the two filestore trees into a single combined location and then keep the original sorted trees as both my master and backup. A couple of batch files will conveniently keep the 'combined' library up to date with respect to the master. -- chill chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=61905 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Ipeng Question...
I'm pretty sure SC's search doesn't search through comment data. I'm a heavy and obsessive user of the comment tag in my flacs...usually listing all the personnel in chamber ensembles and sometimes the entire roster of an orchestra or choir. None of those names can be searched on. For the OP: I settled on the this tagging scheme several years ago and it seems adequate for classical music given SC's current tag parsing abilities: PERFORMER == composer ALBUMTITLE == Major Work - Soloist, Ensemble Name, Principal Member Thus: PERFORMER == Bach, C P E ALBUMTITLE == Cello Concertos - Anner Bylsma, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Gustav Leonhardt That way I can search on any of these: C P E, Cello Concerto, Bylsma, Enlightenment, Leonhardt .. and have the album show up in the list of found albums. Searching on Leonhardt just now turned up 25 albums by various composers where Leonhardt is part of the album title. What's missing from SC's search utility, imho, is any awareness of boolian search operators: e.g. Leonhardt AND Bach currently turns up nothing. -- gharris999 gharris999's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=115 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=61936 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Help! A second hand Squeezebox v3
Yes, after power on, it tries to connect to SN first, but stays in that dead loop of connecting to SN enter the 4-digit code code incorrect impossible to connect to SN. Pressing ADD while unplugging/plugging results in the same situation, no factory reset. One thing somewhat weird: when I push the up and down arrow trying to enter the 4 digits, the blank space x only jerks up and down but no number comes out. Is it because of the wrong remote? Can the remote for SB Boom be used on SB Classic? Another thing: I have SqueezeCenter installed on my computer, but when I doubleclick the SC button to start it, an error message will pop up: http://127.0.0.1:9000, application not found. That is, clicking on SC from the system tray does nothing, but I can access SC from http://localhost:9000/ or http://127.0.0.1:9000. Some more details would be helpful. Is the Boom connected to your local SqueezeCenter, or connected to SqueezeNetwork? What kind of security do you have on your home network? Are you sure that the Boom isn't responding to stray remote commands (eg, sometimes the remote for another device can affect a Squeezebox)? Does the phantom have good musical taste? Hi there To get rid of the setup lock code you need to factory reset your SB3. Power up your SB3 and when the Logitech logo scrolls into view, press the add (+) button on the remote. [slim] MusicIP development... stalled???
I was wondering why the MusicIP mixer had not been updated for a while. I went over to the MusicIP forum and found this recent thread. http://forums.musicip.com/index.php?showtopic=4286 It appears that that the main developer/architect (Wendell) has moved on. It would be a pity if no one picks up on the development of this mixer soon. Maybe Logitech with its deep pockets can make a move on MusicIP (buy it from Parasoft) and incorporate its functionality in SC. Now that would really give the SC server a boost. I'm pretty sure that if the intellectual capital of MusicIP were to be made available for sale... a bunch of other companies in the digital music delivery business would also make a move on it. -- tamanaco tamanaco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4620 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=61977 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
