Re: [slim] Some Flac files play choppy / stop playing
Hello , Thanks for the reactions. I suspect my files to be off in the specific cases. I will keep an eye open for better versions. I will try to find out what the specific FLAC coded version is on these files. For FreeNAS I have uploaded the latest SBS version, FreeNAS shows the files as v.7.5.1, but SBS itself quotes: v.7.5.0 r30464. Interesting? What my specific interest in this case is; is that the LAME processing influences the problematic file streaming. I an curious if some others share this, can test this, and what this means. But if version 7.6 has all new codecs and solves all problems, this question is moot. [slim] Selecting multiple squeecenters / squeezenetwork
All, I stumbled acros this issue some time ago, but never took the time to furter explore. I have 1 squeezebox classic, but multiple squeezeservers (on local lan, also via VPN). I want to easily switch from one squeezeserver to another( or squeezenetwork), but it seems i have to go into the startup menu of the SB, enter the network menu, give the ip's and further on Why can't the SB remember succesfull squeecenters, and make them quickly selectable ? ScHenk, I had flac files of an album that I had acquired that exhibited the problems you describe. My SB3 would stutter and then jump to the next track. Fully reproducable. I could play the files perfectly with the MusicIP player and Foobar. I checked the files with dbPoweramp and it showed that they had been encoded with flacuda#91. Re: [slim] Any jazz music lovers ?
I think knowing sidemen is valuable, since I am often interested in knowing all the performers in a jazz track (e.g., play all of the tracks where Mel Lewis is the drummer), it would be nice to have a good place to put all of them along with the instrument they are playing. Note that these may be different than the main artists (e.g., Thad Jones and Mel Lewis orchestra or the Miles Coltrane CD). I embedded the performers in a new performer field, and the instrument information in the comment and then used CustomBrowse to create some nice menus, which have made playing Jazz a pleasure for me. There are a lot of other ways to accomplish this, maybe even with existing tags (e.g., put main artists in BAND and performers in ARTIST), but IMO the functionality needs to be included. It would also be nice to connect performers to instruments in the DB. -- mps mps's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36351 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81898 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

So do you really want to know that Mel Lewis is the drummer or would it be enough to know that Mel Lewis is participating ? I was thinking that it might be useful to just be able to specify the main instruments that contributes to the characteristics of the music.
