Re: [slim] Trying to listen to squeezebox audio stream in web browser not working

2010-11-07 Thread Skinny

When you start playback of the MP3 stream on a client, it appears as
another player on SBS. You have to choose it (upper right in web ui)
and play some music.

I sometimes use this for my Nokia.

Anything you can reproduce (crashes)? There are two I know about and I
do already have fixes for: one at startup and one where iPeng will
crash when you hold an item in the playlist screen saver (you select
an item in that list by double-clicking to avoid accidental

Re: [slim] Tool to search for cover art in my library?

2010-11-07 Thread elstensoftware

You're possibly correct, I've not tried installing bliss on a Sheevaplug
but it sounds like a fun use of my time :D

bliss just needs to be able to see the files via a file system, so it
can be local or network mounted. You can install it anywhere.

You then access it via http://[bliss ip]:3220/.

Note: you manually rescan Squeezebox Server after bliss has done its
work. It does not talk to SBS as such, it just works on the music files
SBS accesses.

Something else:

Using the application in landscape and portraid mode.
Main reason to use it in portraid is when standing on the

I voted for the better search functionality. As stated in my post in the

On the other hand I'd appreciate the drag'n'drop playlist as well.

[slim] Activating internal speaker - Squeezebox touch

2010-11-07 Thread mwok

Is there anyway to activate the internal speaker on the Squeezebox
touch? I want to use it as a alarm clock as well but don't have my
receiver on 24/7 nor do I have self powered speakers.

If not, one solution is to get a small speaker and plug into the

ONLY if it is the alarm? I don't want it to output to the speaker when
playing music.

[slim] Squeezecenter miserably slow all of a sudden

2010-11-07 Thread kpfeif

Hi.

I've had Squeezecenter running on a dedicated machine for 2
years...never a problem.

Within the last few weeks, the server is miserably slow. The machine
is untouched and sits behind a pretty solid firewall. There's no
malware on it. It's an XP box, static IP.

Requesting the Squeezecenter interface via http using the loopback host
is painfully slow on the box it's running on. Getting at it from one of
the other computers, etc., is also bad. Nothing seems to be react
quickly.

Running 7.5.1 - r30836.

Where do I start? Now that my wife has grown attached to this thing,
it's really starting to hack her off, to.

Thanks.

Things are much improved today. The system worked fine yesterday when

The problem seems to be when I select favorite radio stations via

Why do I sometimes get un-compliant errors when only one of the tracks

This would be for an album that initially had no art. I'm guessing
bliss finds the art, but for some reason it doesn't 'take' to one song

From a time perspective, you often have to dig into things quite a bit
to know for sure when the problem source is coming from the internet -
streaming in particular qualifies for this.

As pfarrell eludes to above, a good spare switch can answer can answer
a lot of questions right quick, while simultaneously providing
significant relief on the hassle and exasperation scale.

I think that perhaps someone at Logitech was misinformed. My Touch is
happily playing tunes from Rhapsody as I write this. Rhapsody did have
some server migration issues over the past few days which may have
affected you and certainly did, at times, affect many other Squeeze
users (including me).

If you're not able to get Rhaposody, the suggestions have been to power
off your server, router and Touch, one by one and then restart. Others
have suggested deinstalling and reinstalling the Rhapsody app on
mysb.com. Results have been variable and seem to depend, somewhat on
your location. Don't give up quite yet..

It goes right to the point of playing, allowing me to choose music, or
search, or whatever, but it never actually plays the music.

That's a bit vexing as to why it would be working for me and not for
you. And, really, Rhapsody's been working without issue on my Touch
since the hiccups we had with it on---I think it was Wednesday evening.
Have you tried contacting Rhapsody support, yet?

Considering how many Logitech/Rhapsody users there must be out there,
I'd think that if, indeed, Rhapsody was really no longer working with
any Touch/Logitech products, there would be much, much more chatter on
here about this issue.

I'm staying with my half-baked theory that it's a semi-random,
localized issue ;) and not a complete breakdown between Logitech and
Rhapsody.

[slim] Extend Duet to get Internet Radio in bedroom

2010-11-07 Thread MorrisMinah

Hi,
I own a Duet system which provides music in my living room using a
stereo amp and speakers.

I wish to add something to get me internet radio and alarm in the
bedroom. I don't want to use another receiver because it would require
me to add a stereo amp and speakers which I don't have room for next to
the bed.

Is the Squeezebox Internet Radio the best solution or is there a
cheaper way to go?

Thanks

The Boom or the Radio would be your only two choices that would work
with SbS you already have AND have built in amp/speaker. I have two
booms that are rock solid.

Assuming you have SBS installed somewhere, you'll just need to go into
Settings (lower right corner of the SBS main page). The first thing
that should come up is the Basic Settings page. On there, you'll see
the settings boxes for choosing your Music and Playlists folder that
SBS points to. Should be easy from there on.

I'm getting to Rhapsody through SBS and that may be what's separating
those of us for whom it's still functional from those who are having
problems. Try switching to SBS and see if that makes any difference
(though it'll mean keeping your computer/server on 'till the problem's
fixed, if indeed, that's what it is).

That's not quite what I meant. I didn't suggest that you use the
Rhapsody player that pops up on your computer when you're accessing
Rhapsody on the compter. I'm suggesting that, on your Touch, you
switch to My Music which, if you're on mysb.com, switches the Touch's
connection over to the Squeezebox Server running on your computer (you
have to have the computer on and SBS running for this to
happen---otherwise you'll get an error message). If you can switch
you'll see your same applications, including Rhapsody, appear on the
Touch's screen. Then try using Rhaposdy as you usually do on your
Touch.

No need to switch libraries !

Create a sub folder in your usual music folder (as told to SBS.) Make
it early in the alphabet (like aaa.)

Add the desired show to that folder.

Main menu/music folder/

Select the aaa folder. Anything not already in the music library will
be added to the music library. Additionally, you can select the show to
play..

UnderstandI think you'll just need to bear with Rhapsody for a bit
until you can determine that they've got it fixed---whatever it is.
Personally, I've always found that everything works just a bit better
and more reliably running SBS, plus you have access to your own stored
music (which you can't running mysb.com). You might want to change
your computer's sleep configurations to not allow it to sleep, for the
time being...otherwise you might experience some different issues with
the Touch.

Re: [slim] Tool to search for cover art in my library?

2010-11-07 Thread SamS

Another tip if you are considering adding album artwork where you have
none (or minimal) previously:

Embedding artwork takes a ton of storage space. I am rarely using
bigger than 600x600, and my ~1900 CDs look like they're going to take
200GB+ of storage space. That seems ridiculous to me! I might even
run out of room on my NAS discs at this pace.

Did she now try iPeng for iPad I mean, after all, you don't have to

Re: [slim] Rhapsody no longer compatible with my Touch???

2010-11-07 Thread trinkner

I can access Rhapsody on my SB Radio via my home server, but I can't
access it via mysqueezebox.com. Seems like a problem with either
Logitech's mysqueezebox.com serve software, or the handshake between
Logitech's server and Rhapsody.

I have the same problems reported by others: using mysqueezebox.com,
Rhapsody allows my device to navigate my music collection etc., and
then when I select a track/album/artist/channel to play, it displays
the correct screen art, buffers too quickly, and then fails to emit
sound. About half the time this then freezes my device and requires a
reboot. Some of the time, I'm able to navigate back to Home and select
a radio stream OK. Some of the time, I'm able to navigate back to the
Home screen, select a radio stream, and then only see the stream's
artwork but get no sound until I do a reboot.

It's very frustrating. One of the joys of using Rhapsody on the SB
Radio is that I don't have to have a home server fired up and sucking
down electricity when I want to listen.

I hope Logitech gets this figured out soon. Both companies have a lot
at stake with the Squeezebox device user community.

Either way, Logitech's firmware doesn't seem to exit gracefully from
the handshake problem with Rhapsody's service. If the device won't
play Rhapsody, at least it should exit gracefully, allowing the user to
listen to other sources of music.

Cheers,

Richard

AgainRhapsody fully acknowledges that they broke something. And
it's not just Logitech's players that are affected. There are other
non-Logitech hardware devices that are having the same issues. All
Logitech can do is wait for them to fix it. This particular issue is
not Logitech's. We can, at the least, give Logitech some leeway when
it's not their fault.

Now with the Squeeze- system music , in stead of wakening up on Sunday

listen to a beautiful symphonic music ( not a good thing ).

Still too many buttons that either are in the way or that she doesn't
find.
She likes the volume sliders on each player though (even if we never
listen to music in two rooms at once :) )
