Thanks for the heads up. There is a Soundcloud plugin for the

Other than that, yesterdays track seems to be removed and todays' not

Bingo! No more dsbridge with avast, and to my surprise Spotify still

I have tried experimenting and AFAICT broadcasting Spotify to your
Squeezeboxes using DSBridge only works if you have the files in both
the Spotify application folder AND the Flash folder.

It might be that just having the files in your Flash folder, even if
renamed, is enough to get it to work.

Strange But True ...

It all works, Spotify and Spotify plus dsbridge streaming

I removed the renamed files from the folder I've searched to see
if I have the files anywhere else on the disk - no, just in /Spotify

I am also baffled why it still works!

Re: [slim] DSBridge - A simpler way to stream Spotify

Windows does a lot of caching so unless you have restarted Windows -
once a DLL has been loaded it may still available even if deleted from
the source directory as long as there is one instance of a process
which has linked to it. This make Windows very confusing if you update
DLLs as you need to reboot Windows to be sure the new version is being
used.

Use Process Explorer (
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653 ) to see what
DLLs are loaded and their source directory.

If you are using the two pane view - then after opening the lower pane
ans making sure Lower Pane view is DLLs then if you select a
process in the upper pane , the DLLs associated with that process will
appear in the lower pane.

However for this problem I think you should use the Find menu to find
any instance of the file name of the DLL you have removed - I suggest
just use first few letters of name. The result will show any process
using a DLL with a matching name.

[slim] Gapless playback no longer working properly

2012-02-21 Thread rpieket

My Squeezebox Boom has been the main conduit for music in my home for
some three years years. I have several of them throughout the house,
all synced with each other, and it's been great. My server runs on OS X
Lion.

However recently I have noticed a new problem. When playing back a
gapless album, in particular a continuous DJ mix album, there is a
noticeable transition between the tracks. It's not so much a gap,
rather an unevenness in the tempo. Like the new track is slightly
delayed.

This used to work great. My music library has not changed. Gapless
albums that previously played back fine, now have awkward track
transitions. I suspect this was introduced in a recent server software
or firmware upgrade.

* Is Logitech aware of this? Has anyone else noticed it?
* Is a fix in the making?
* Is it the server or the firmware?
* What is the last version of the server or firmware that did not have
this problem, and how to I revert to that version?

Actually syncing only works robust, when songs are played gapless.
Otherwise a resync is needed on each song start.

Are you playing mp3?
In my experience the individual compression leads to very small audible
glitches in gapless songs. I can only hear it via headphones though and
when I listen very closely and try to detect it.

Re: [slim] Cheap tablets to use as a Controller

2012-02-21 Thread rbz5416

If that's all you want it for then you probably can't go too far wrong,
other than a probable lack of support. Just make sure it's got a
capacitive screen rather than resistive. If you want to do more with it
then I'd say it's worth spending a bit more on something you've heard
of.

A used iPod Touch with iPeng works well you should be able to pick up
a 2nd gen in decent condition for that money. If you jailbreak it to
make it multi-tasking you can use e-mail etc. at the same time.
Otherwise iPeng (or other control software) will shut down when you
fire up something else.

I'm currently running Squeeze Commander on a Samsung Galaxy WiFi 5.0
find that a good size for a remote. Comet were clearing these for £99
recently but they'll be long gone now.

[slim] Backing up my music files in a useful way

2012-02-21 Thread pqpq

The endless task of ripping my CDs has passed the 30,000 track mark, so
I'm thinking I should sort out a back up. I'd hate to have to do it
all again.

I was going to buy a second NAS drive, but they've tripled in price in
the last few months, I guess because of the floods in Thailand, so a
regular hard drive it will have to be.

It seems like a good opportunity to kill two birds with one stone - it
would be great to have access to my music collection while I'm at work,
so my back-up would do for that. So the plan is to run Squeezeplay on
my work PC, plug the hard drive into a USB port and play some tunes.

So would that work OK? I seem to remember reading about problems
accessing a big library on an external hard drive, but perhaps that was
in other circumstances.

Thanks.

faad transcoding is what happens whenever your device doesn't support
AAC natively.
You can enforce it in the server settings by disabling native under
