AFAIK this is the 2nd attept from the TO cause the 1st one was already
spammed with other thin(g/k)s like that.

btw.
I would not do that with bitmaps!
To compose things like that - use .eps or .dfx - then you can scale them
without losing quality and since VU Meters are just some filled curves
with a textfont it shouldnt be complicated.

Hi there, I created this thread because of threaddrift on the original,

I'm in Kansas. I'd be interested in a 7" touchscreen contraption. If I
found the right tutorial, I'd probably build one. I have no real
experience with projects like this. I will be producing vector art for
scalability. I'm currently using "Squeeze Meter" as a placeholder. This
may seem strange but some words look really nice in that typeface and
others don't.

I need to explore JiveLite. I'm still using the original Squeezeplayer
on many computers.

Just a quick answer before I call it a day. I'm from The Netherlands so
shipping a complete unit to the USA is probably not the best solution
;-)

Ralphy provides more up-to-date versions of SqueezePlay for
Windows/OSX/Linux on
_this (\"https://www.mediafire.com/folder/4q8dvq20iyz9e/Builds\;)_
website. They all have the new Joggler skin included and provide a good
starting point for testing new versions of your VU meters. I am using
Windows and on this platform it's as easy as replacing the included .png
file with a new version before starting SqueezePlay. The file to replace
on Windows is:

C:\Program
Files\SqueezePlay\lua\applets\JogglerSkin\images\UNOFFICIAL/VUMeter/vu_analog_25seq_w.png

Re: [slim] Building the best Pi LMS Player

2015-11-19 Thread kingswindsor

Without much hassle at all I've got the following bits working together
nicely.
- Pi 7" screen
- RPi 2
- IQaudio DAC+
- IQaudio AMP+
- 2 x 3" full-range speakers
- 19v power supply

For expediency I used the max2play software (the version with the 7"
screen and Jivelite capability built in) which allowed all the necessary
configuration to be done via the web-interface. I was surprised how
easily all the hardware and software came together and just worked!
Rather than the separate IQaudio DAC+ and AMP+, an alternative is to use
the IQaudio Digiamp+ and save a bit of space and some cash.

Next steps: I prefer PiCoreplayer and will configure that to do much the
same with a Jivelite interface when I have more time. And I need to
build the speakers into a decent speaker cabinet and mount the screen on
the top.

[slim] Dead DB3?

2015-11-19 Thread Omen Wild
My SB3 from 2005 has apparently suffered enough and died. When I came
back from vacation this summer it would crash/reboot every time I tried to
play music. I did a factory reset and it worked for a while, but has
starting crashing again when I try to play music (same behavior wireless
or wired). I opened it up and noticed there is some oddness around the
solder posts in the front . Has
it suffered a true death?

Is the HiFiBerry DAC+ combo running piCorePlayer a good replacement?

jstraw,

I saw your post in the "Building the best Pi LMS Player" thread where
you asked what thread is best suited for discussing your updated analog
VU meters.

First of all thanks for your continued support. As these high-res VU
meters are specific to JiveLite and especially the Joggler skin (which
to my knowledge is the only skin still under active development) I would
suggest you continue in the
_JiveLite
(\"http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?98156-Announce-JiveLite-cut-down-squeezebox-control-application\;)_
or
_JiveLite_for_piCorePlayer
(\"http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?103330-Jivelite-for-piCorePlayer\;)_
thread. All development on the Joggler skin, at the moment, is for the
piCorePlayer's included version of JiveLite (made by Ralphy).

I am in the process of making my first analog VU meter and am also
struggling with a decent name. As a placeholder I opted for JiveLite
Touch.

> I'd like to future proof these by making them easy to scale down from

It's not really about the display size but about the resolution of the
Joggler skin. The Joggler skin is, in my opinion, the only real
successor of the original Touch interface. All other HD skins lack
certain features compared to this skin. The current Joggler skin
resolution is 800x480 which is why the official Raspberry Pi display
(which has the same resolution) is such a good match. To be future proof
you could develop your new meter in a vector based program like
Illustrator/Inkscape.

Where are you located? And what kind of contraption are you looking
for?

I will post other JiveLite related stuff in the JiveLite for
piCorePlayer thread.
