Re: [slim] Sound Opinions Podcast no longer working on Squeezeboxes (running LMS)

2015-10-15 Thread ChrisNY

I tried listening through the TuneIn app. Interestingly, I can listen
to episodes from 509 backwards. The recent episodes do not seem to
play. Wondering if they made some kind of change to the format
recently. I am running 7.8.1 on Ubuntu.

Re: [slim] Possible to record radio stream?

Not that i am aware of. You might want to check out dar.fm website.
This allows you to record radio shows and perhaps you can get a link
that would work on squeezebox.

[slim] RSS Feed Reader - Squeezebox Alternative?

2013-12-07 Thread ChrisNY

Well, it finally happened - my SB3 has died. I have a backup Touch
which I had purchased a while ago as well as a Raspberry Pi that could
be put into service. However, one of the features I enjoy on the SB3 is
the RSS news ticker. I often read the feeds on my SB3 as I go to sleep
or when I wake up since it is on my bedside table. Is anyone aware of a
product (or a fairly easy DIY project) which might fill this
requirement? I have done some Googling but not really come up with
much.

 Thanks!

I use Orange Squeeze and Squeezeplayer on my tablet and am very happy

Squeeze Control just released a tablet version of their app which you

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Orange Squeeze 1.0 for Android Released

2011-12-21 Thread ChrisNY

I downloaded this app tonight and from my preliminary use it seems quite
nice. 2 items I noticed when using it on my Motorola Droid (Original):
I can only select items from the main screen if I tap to the right hand
side of the screen. Tapping the icons on the left shows a quick
highlight but no action.
I find I am constantly changing the order of items on the screen
unintentionally when I scroll up and down. Is there a way to reduce
the sensitivity?

Great app, and look forward to playing around with it some more.

I guess it's more of a catch-all for a station which doesn't keep
itself restricted to a particular genre/style. For example, RadioIO
Eclectic would play music that would be categorized into narrower
categories elsewhere on the RadioIO menu. So while you'd get deluged
with nonstop bluegrass on the Bluegrass station, the eclectic station
would mix one bluegrass song followed by a folk or jazz tune.

The thing about Radio Paradise is that the mix is well organized so
that even though you're hearing music from multiple genres, it doesn't
(to me anyway) do so in a way where the transitions are jarring to the
listener.

Re: [slim] Wireless - yes, Homeplug - No

I am having the same problem that was laid out in the original post.
Here's an overview:
At the router: ZyXel PLA401 Homeplug
Living Room: ZyXel PLA470 Homeplug switch
Bedroom: ZyXel PLA401 Homeplug.

The Squeezebox in the living room connects to the PLA470 without any
problems.

The Squeezebox in the bedroom cannot connect. The server and the
Squeezebox are using static IP addresses. I've also tried connecting
via DHCP but it times out (reports that it cannot fine DHCP server). I
cannot connect to SqueezeNetwork either.

I can connect to the internet using a laptop in the bedroom with the
Powerline adapter (wireless turned off on the laptop).

I'm getting by with wireless for the time being now that a firmware fix
in the Squeezebox nightlies appears to have fixed the WPA2 issue I was
having with my Actiontec router.

Just thought I'd chime in with my experience.

[slim] Mediafly Podcasts

2008-03-24 Thread ChrisNY

I came across the Mediafly site through my Chumby internet device. It
is a very useful site to aggregate podcasts. Once you have them set up
by category you can get an RSS feed for them. It seems like an easier
way to manage podcasts rather than individually tracking them in
SqueezeCenter. I added the RSS feed URSLs into the Podcasts section of
SqueezeCenter and it seems to be working well so far.

[slim] MP3 Files Play, Streams Do Not

2007-11-12 Thread ChrisNY

I can play MP3 files with no problem on my Squeezebox. However, when I
try to play an MP3 stream I get nothing. It says buffering and when
the buffer fills it stays silent. RA and ASX streams work fine. I am
thinking something is wrong in one of the conversion config files, but
don't know where to start. Any ideas? I am running 6.5.3 on Ubuntu
server 6.10.

Thanks.

Re: [slim] Bedside table solution

2007-10-20 Thread ChrisNY

I am using a Zvox mini on my bedside table. Decent sound and I can
place the Squeezebox on top of it (although loud bass can sometimes
cause it to jump a bit).

Re: [slim] added second Squeezebox...problems

2007-09-07 Thread ChrisNY

It could be related to IP adress conflicts. You could have either
assigned the same IP adress to both of them or there may have been
overlaps if they were automatically assigned. I would recommend giving
them each a static IP address (search Wiki and/or forums if you need
help on this). I seem to recall having a similar issue when I added my
second Squeezebox until I assigned them static addresses.

Re: [slim] Album not appearing under artist view.

I had the same problem with my Ubuntu install. Upgrading to 6.5.3
cleared everything up. Happy again!

Re: [slim] Help !! How to install slimserver on ubuntu 6.06 (dapper)

2007-03-22 Thread ChrisNY

I was having similar problems recently. The most likely cause is rights
to the folder. Make sure that the slimserver user has as least read
rights to the folder in question. I muddled through it by researching
how the fstab file works and changing some of the permissions. If you
Google fstab you should be able to come up with some good resources.
Sorry, I don't recall where I went specifically.

[slim] Re: Upgraded to 6.5.1 and NO SOUND

2007-01-26 Thread ChrisNY

FWIW, on my Windows XP home system I was having problems streaming music
files (but not radio) after I upgraded to 6.5.1. I updated my
socketwrapper file with the one at the following location and
everything worked again.

http://homepage.eircom.net/~altondsl/slim/socketwrapper_0.12_20060220.zip

The original file is located in:
C:\Program Files\Slimserver\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\ I
believe.

This file was mentioned as a fix for similar issues with the AlienBBC
plugin which is what caused me to give it a try.

[slim] Re: RadioIO only 32K since Slimserver upgrade

2007-01-01 Thread ChrisNY

I also still see the 128 feeds on iTunes, so I suppose if you use iTunes
you could access the streams that way through Slimserver. Not at my
Slimserver PC at the moment so I can't confirm this will work.

[slim] Weird 6.5 Issues

2006-09-26 Thread ChrisNY

Since upgrading to 6.5, I have some odd issues with the web interface:
When I click on artists, albums, etc. it returns a blank list and it
says ARRAY(0x5e5ce0c) next to the Home link.

Also, when I try to go to server settings I get a Page Not Found
message...I am running on Windows XP Home.

Any options besides re-installing?

[slim] Re: Universal Remote?

2006-07-27 Thread ChrisNY

I have found one of the best things about the Harmony series of remotes
is the ability for the customer support team to update your
configuration online and then just ask you to re-synch the remote to
get the updates. I have had them do this type of thing to help change
the order my components power up etc.

[slim] Re: Slimserver over Internet?

2006-05-26 Thread ChrisNY

Thanks to all the previous postings, I've got a SSH connection and can
connect softsqueeze to my Slimserver. The problem I have now is that
even though I am connected the softsqueeze client is not showing up on
my Slimserver player listing. I need to limit the bitrate for the
Softsqueeze but can't do this because there's nothing showing up in the
server...Any ideas? I am using Slimerver 6.2.2 on Windows XP and using
OpenSSH. Thanks!

[slim] Re: squeezeboxes flying off the shelves?

2006-04-30 Thread ChrisNY

I've got one co-worker who has it at the top of his Chanukah list for
next year...

Unfortunately, most of the people I've tried to share my Squeezebox
excitement with don't really get it. My wife has admitted that she's
a convert now that she's been using it for a while. Most folks politely
say Oh, that sounds pretty interesting and then change the
subject...Even when I tell them its Open Source and constantly
evolving! Ah well, at least I have the forums here to converse with
like minded folk.
