Re: [slim] Ethernet Appears Disconnected Please Check Your Network Connection
As stated previously a single player is located at location 1, while the other two players were 100 klm's away at location 2. The player at location 1 was displaying the same symptoms as the two players at location 2, as described in the first post. The problem with player 1 resolved by changing the server version from 7.5.3 to 7.5.2. 7.6.0 also works with ethernet but there appears to be a volume gain issue.. The two players at location 2 appear to have experienced failure of the wired Ethernet connections simultaneously (meaning between uses). Server versions between 7.5.1 and 7.6.0. and firmware between 131 to 135 have been tested with these two other players and there has been no success with achieving wired Ethernet connection as the 'setup wired Ethernet connection process stalls' with, Ethernet Appears Disconnected Please Check Your Network Connection. Something happened to the 2 players at location 2 that did not affect 3 routers, 4 PC's, several network switches and 3 voip ata connectors plus several network IP cameras that were all connected on the same LAN. To further this mystery the two players at location 2 were separated by around 40 meters of Cat5e cable with several switches, routers and networked devices interspersed throughout this distance. Further evidence that it is not a local infrastructure wired LAN network problem is that the new SB Touch and SB Duet that were installed over the weekend in place of the 2 players at location 2, using the same upstream hardware, have both connected via wired Ethernet without a problem. These 2 problem SB Classics will still connect via wireless. These 2 problem SB Classics have been also tested at location 1 and the issue remains. From testing and process of elimination to date, it appears that wired Ethernet has failed on these 2 SB Classics for reasons unknown, while all other networked devices on the LAN remain unaffected. Resetting by holding 1, +, and brightness on separate occasions while applying power to both the units has been performed many times. It appears these 2 players have become junk unless wireless connections are acceptable. -- smithw smithw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44731 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86169 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Ethernet Appears Disconnected Please Check Your Network Connection
Can now confirm the issue with one unit at least is caused by squeezenetwork version V7.5.3. Uninstalled V7.5.3 and installed V7.5.2 and the squeezebox classic skipped Ethernet Appears Disconnected Please Check Your Network Connection and worked as usual. Then updated to V7.5.3 and the same problem occurred. Uninstalled V7.5.3 and installed V7.5.2 and the squeezebox classic works as expected via wired or wireless ethernet. The only issue with this is when connecting to a V7.5.2 server it installs Firmware 131 then when a connection to squeezenetwork is made you need to wait while it installs firmware 132, then when you connect back to squeezenetwork server, wait while firmware 131 is installed... I would not like to be who ever signed off on V7.5.3 release! Thanks heaps for the suggestions here. Now I know what it is will try the 7.6 when I have a chance as suggested by Mnyb in #3 Responses here = 8 in one day Responses @ Logitech support = 0 after 7 days Responses @ Logitech forums = 0 after 1 day I expect the other 2 squeezebox classic problem will be V7.5.3 when I get to them on the weekend. thanks again.. -- smithw smithw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44731 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86169 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

toby10;616677 Wrote: Your SB3 getting firmware every time it switches between MySB.com and SBS server is normal, it is only doing what it is designed to do. Your SBS server and MySB.com server are running two different firmware versions and the player is detecting this difference. You can turn this off on an SB3 by going to Setup (press hold the left arrow), scroll to Automatic Updates = NO I had accepted that the firmware changes were required between 7.5.2 (FW131) and squeezebox.com (FW132) were normal but thought I would test going to Setup (press hold the left arrow), scroll to Automatic Updates = NO The result is that going from a 7.5.2 squeezenetwork server results in a blank screen in the Classic, requiring a return to setup and enable auto update so the classic can be updated from 131 to 132 and then connect to .com The result going from squeezebox.com to a 7.5.2 squeezenetwork server with auto update disabled in the classic results in a prompt to manually change the firmware from 132 to 131. No matter this is just an observation. Can live with this minor issue after the non connectivity with 7.5.3 installed on Windows xp and/or Ubuntu 10.04 -- smithw smithw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44731 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86169 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] SB release 7.5.3: Unreliable. Anyone else?
I found V 7.5.3 unusable as wired ethernet connection with 3 squeezebox classics as described in this thread http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86169 Have proved with one of the classics, so far, that un-installing V7.5.3 and installing V7.5.2 fixed the issue and then reinstalling V7.5.3 returned the issue. Also noticed continual drop outs when connected via wireless when using V7.5.3 -- smithw smithw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44731 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85474 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Ethernet Appears Disconnected Please Check Your Network Connection
I suddenly have 3 x V3 Squeezebox Classic players with this problem when trying to connect via a wired connection. Have had the first Squeezebox Classic for 4 or 5 years approx. Brought a second, used Squeezebox Classic around 12 months ago. Both have worked without a problem in the same building, separated by a couple of switches and at least 40 metres of LAN cable for the last year. Have found that wireless connections with these units steaming .wav files is unreliable so have always used wired Ethernet. Purchased a third used Squeezebox Classic a couple of weeks ago and set it up at a location 100 kilometres from the other 2 Squeezebox Classics. All were working fine until arriving at the location with the first 2 units 6 days ago and finding that both units would not connect via wired Ethernet with both units displaying Ethernet Appears Disconnected Please Check Your Network Connection when attempting to connect via a wired connection. Steps taken trying to resolve this have been; Reset both to Factory by holding down the + key on the remote and applying power to the units. Re flash firmware to both by holding down the brightness switch on the remote and applying power to the units. Checking that the wireless card is seated correctly. Deleting the players from the squeezebox account. Contacting Logitech Support, (no response as yet) Returned to the second location a few days later and turned on the newest acquisition and streamed internet radio for a while and then connected to a local squeezenetwork server on a Win XP machine and listened for a while longer. Turned the unit off after some time and noticed Ethernet Appears Disconnected Please Check Your Network Connection displayed as the power button on the remote was pressed. Left the unit and checked the next morning and it turned on using the power button on the remote with its static ip and connected to internet radio ok. Turned it off and went to work for the day. Turned this third latest unit on again tonight and it streamed internet radio again for a few minutes and suddenly displayed Ethernet Appears Disconnected Please Check Your Network Connection. Following steps taken; Factory reset the unit Reflashed the firmware and still get the same message when trying to connect via wired ethernet. Firmware on all 3 players is 132 Have tried the latest squeezenetwork on debian and Win XP Pro. The wired cables are good and have been checked with several other devices. DHCP server on both LANs is working and there are no network IP conflicts. Have tried several different network switches and routers, one cable isp and 2 adsl isp's. All 3 units will still connect via wireless but wireless connections are not satisfactory or desired in these applications. Surely the odds of 3 units, separated geographically like this, all failing with the exact same symptoms must be related to recent software/firmware? I have raised a support request with logitech 3 days ago and updated with developments the last 2 days and have not yet had a response? I would really appreciate some suggestions from Logitech support, if this is still at all possible, before attempting any other diagnosis. I have spent hours on this already and actually purchased a new Duet and a Touch thinking that the first 2 had failed before now finding that the 3rd squeezebox classic at a different location, using unique isp, lan and equipment had developed the same symptoms. I now don't want to risk turning either of the 2 new units on until this issue is resolved. Any suggestions, or is there anything I have missed, or could try? Thanks in advance.. -- smithw smithw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44731 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86169 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Ethernet Appears Disconnected Please Check Your Network Connection
Thank you for your responses. I can confirm all players and servers had static ip assigned, and have since also tried dhcp where possible. One issue is that after starting the squeezeboxes, setup logic is as follows; Select Language Set Up Networking Connect to an Ethernet Network Ethernet Appears Disconnected Please Check Your Network Connection and it is not possible to move past this point. Will try later software on server but will need to connect players via wireless to test as wired Ethernet is not possible. Have posted on Logitech forum too since http://logitech-en-ap.custhelp.com/app/account/questions/detail.. don't seem to be responding. -- smithw smithw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44731 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86169 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
