Re: [slim] UPS support

2020-08-19 Thread teeitup

My debian linux based LMS server is protected by an APC UPS.

Uses package "apcupsd" and connects via a usb cable. pretty simple to
setup.

Power outages are the new normal in California.

I don't really care about the PC or the software. It's the music library
that I'm worried about. The hours and hours of work that has gone into
creating it makes it imperative that I protect it. I also have 2
alternating backups of the music library.

Re: [slim] Pandora issues in the nighttime

2017-08-09 Thread teeitup

Yes, I have cable internet. Ample through put.
I checked it through out the day and Pandora stations played fine.
Around 11:00 pm PST it craps out. All attempts to restart report a
connection time out on the duet controller.

Using the Pandora app on the phone or tablet work fine while the problem
with LMS is evident. My internet or Pandora don't seem to be the issue.

LMS seems to be the common element. I don't know if LMS makes a direct
connection to Pandora or if mysqueezebox.com is involved in the stream.

[slim] Pandora issues in the nighttime

2017-08-08 Thread teeitup

I'm having a strange problem with Pandora.

We have two stations that we listen to frequently. Recently they won't
play in the evenings/nighttime. They play fine during the daytime but in
the evening they continuously restart. I've restarted the LMS server,
power cycled the players and had no luck. I listened to one station for
30 minutes earlier this morning. I'm listening to the other as I write
this. They've played without issue. I've been trying different things
for about a week now.

I don't know what else to try. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

[slim] Ideas for displaying Whats playing on screen

2016-09-05 Thread teeitup

My monitor died.
The new one is a "wide" model.
I have space to spare. I was wondering what some of you might use to
display what's playing.
I use the the standard web interface, haven't found any I like better,
for control from my desk.
The "undocked player panel" would be great if the window decorations
could be turned off. Right now it looks clumsy.
Something vertical rather than horizontal might work great on this wide
monitor.

Thanks,

Randy

Re: [slim] Album Songs Out Of Order

2016-05-27 Thread teeitup

I use BMF when I add new music. Quick and easy way to get the music into
the database.
I just added a LIVE album and wanted to play it in order. Since I was in
BMF it played alphabetically. Of course I wanted to listen to it in the
proper order.
I use random play almost exclusively. I forgot about this nuance.
Quick search of the forums and the answer was there.

Long live my Squeezebax(LMS)

[slim] Live365 and 8018 errors...again

After months of joy the Live365 8018 your session is invalid error
came back on Tuesday.

I'm just venting and would like to know if anyone else is currently
having this problem.

My usual procedures for fixing this problem have not worked this time.
I refuse to uninstall and reinstall again.

My previous attempts to work with support got as far a getting a bug
created. Unfortunately there wasn't enough interest for it to get any
attention.

All other services work fine. Pandora, Slacker, Rhapsody, and podcasts
still function.

[slim] Mp3 Streaming won't stream

2009-01-25 Thread teeitup

Running Debian Linux. (Normal SC operation to SB3 and Duet work fine)

If I use an mp3 collection streaming works.
Using the flac collection I get connection but no output.

Lame is installed and Squeezecenter indicates that it is.
I was advised to put lame in the Squeezecenter bin folder. The closest
I can find is /usr/share/squeezecenter/Bin. I have put copy of lame
there and in /usr/sbin where the squeezecenter-server script is
located. I restarted SC after I made these changes. I still can't get
any mp3 streaming with my flac collection.

What am I missing?

I have read the wiki and it doesn't seem like it should be too
complicated to set up.

Thanks,

Re: [slim] Rumors of streaming MP3 to other players...Is it true?

2009-01-23 Thread teeitup

LAME is required for this and it's not included, so you need to drop a
copy of it in SC's bin directory

Is not having LAME installed enough?
The settings interface screen indicates that it is installed.
I have verified that LAME is available to the squeezebox user at the
command line.
Maybe I'll set a link in SC's bin pointing to the installed LAME.

I pointed my alternate setup(nightly) to an mp3 directory and streaming
worked. It did stop for no reason using XMMS.

Thanks,

[slim] Rumors of streaming MP3 to other players...Is it true?

2009-01-22 Thread teeitup

I'm under the impression that one can stream mp3 to XMMS, WinAmp etc...

I have experimented with this and can't get it to work.

It seems that xmms and winamp both connect to the ...:9000/stream.mp3

The players show up in the Web Interface. There is no output.

My entire collection is flac. Do I need mp3's?

Is there some setting I'm missing?

I don't have any immediate plans to use it, I just have to know how to
make it work.

Re: [slim] Thank You Slimdevices / Logitech Community

I'd like to add that after a year I'm still exited about the product.

The thousands of dollars I had spent on CD's and the vast majority
hadn't come off the shelf for years. It really was a waste when you
think about it. Being able to rip them and use a MP3 player in the car
and elsewhere was nice. I actually have a Cowon that plays flac.

SC has changed all of that and now the entire collection is at my
fingertips.

On the weekends I just set a random mix and let it play. I have been
asked what station are you listening to? too many times to count.

No commercials. :)
