[slim] LMS Future! What's version 10 of UE Music Library

2012-09-13 Thread truehl

Hi,
can someone tell me please, what the LMS version 10.0 UE Music Library
on the nightly download side means? May be I'm dump, but I can't imagine
what's this version for? I thought LMS is dead and the new radio version
is only made to play content from the Internet?

Please bring light to my life!

Thanks, greetings Thomas

[slim] Squeezebox without Logitech

2012-09-03 Thread truehl

Hi folks,
I think it's time to join the debate. I've named the thread Squeezebox
... and not LMS because I like to ignore Logitech's last renaming act.

First I was a kind of shocked from hearing the news, but now I ask you:
Do we really need Logitech? As far as I know Squeezebox Server was and
still is open source?! Only the firmware is not open source. So we still
have a great server product and it should be possible to maintain and
further develope this great product by a community. So we need players
and remote controls. Remote controls are not a problem at all iPeng is
the best remote control for a music server I've ever seen! There are
other remote controls for nearly any platform. Are there still people
without smartphones or tablets? So we need players. We have software
players like SqueezeSlave and SqueezePlay. So we need Hardware for
Server and Player. What about Raspberry Pi? Raspberry Pi is a very cheep
hardware platform which can be use as a Squeezebox Server and a player
and if you like you can run server and player on only one device! This
device costs only 35 $.

All these products have nothing to do with Logitech. So we are ready to
go, aren't we?

To be serious, there is still something to do to run this setup as a
100% replacement of the existing players, but we are very close to this.
It's all up and running in my SqueezePlug project and meantime I'm
working on a completely new version with very good effort. One open
thing is to find a replacement for the sluggish internal sound card if
you need analogue or spdif sound-output. HDMI output already work
great!

So take a look at www.squeezeplug.de, and if you like join my project
and help to keep Squeezebox alive!!!

[slim] DLNA Player

2011-12-08 Thread truehl

Hi,
with the new Logitech Media-Server, the server is DLNA compliant. So
far so good. But what about a DLNA-Renderer e.G. a DLAN ready receiver?
As far as I can see I have no possibility to get it recognized as a
player in the Logitech Media-Server environment. Did I miss something
or is it planed for future versions ?

Greetings,
Thomas

If so, I can create and test an init script for squeezeslave to start

 Let me know.

Hi Ralphy,
I've done this:
apt-get install alsa-base
apt-get install alsa-utils

Than I started the alsmixer and saw a device (0).
Than: ./squeezeslave-1.0-216-alsa -L
output: PortAudio error7: No output devices found.

So Alsa don't work I think. The mixer settings are OK.

Yes the distro is the same on VM. Debian Squeeze!

Right now I thinking about to make a collection to by you a dockstar

A couple things. Squeezeslave is not supported on mysqueezebox.com so
Logitech may have finally done something to block it in 7.6.

Try using a MAC address you've never used before when starting SS via

Try deleting the Cache directory and doing a server restart.

be the branch point for 1.0 as testing over the last two weeks is going
 well.

You should be able to build it using
contrib/makefile.linux26-armel-alsa-display and get rid of the need to
use aoss. You should update this line to use 1541 instead of 1534.

 LIBPORTAUDIO=portaudio-r1541

and you can comment out these two lines if you don't want the display
 baggage.

 #CFLAGS+=-DINTERACTIVE
 #LIBS+=-lncurses -llirc_client

I've uploaded both the alsa and oss versions to the 'beta downloads'

Note that I used the squeezeslave-alsa binary for the test.

Ralphy:
I did the following:
1. Download your squeezeslave version
2. Copied it to the VM /usr/bin
3. Installed the following packets:
- apt-get install alsa
- apt-get install subversion
- apt-get install libasound2-dev
- apt-get install libncurses5-dev
- apt-get install liblircclient-dev

4. changed squeezeslave-alsa to squeezeslave
cd /usr/bin/
mv squeezeslave-alsa squeezeslave

5. made it executable:
chmod 777 squeezeslave

6. Start SqueezeSlave
squeezeslave -r15

7. Test some things:
r...@squeezeplug:~# squeezeslave -V
squeezeslave 0.9-133
compile flags: linux portaudio:1420 debug signals interactive daemon

r...@squeezeplug:~# squeezeslave -L
Output devices:
0: Intel 82801AA-ICH: Intel 82801AA-ICH (hw:0,0)
2: front
* 3: default

8. configured alsamixer = All switches on maximum

9. tried:
squeezeslave -r15 o0
squeezeslave -r15 o2
squeezeslave -r15 o3

Result: no sound at all

Whats now?
Thanks a lot for your patience,

Greetings Thomas

Do you see OO or MM at the bottom of each slider? They should all be

Pressing the M key on each slider toggles between them.

Ralphy:
Wonderfull!!! If got it to work!!! It was only the switch to OO, thats
great!!! I'll add it to the SqueezePlugVM. Do you have news for the need
of a coprocessor thing of squeezeslave?

Thanks a lot,

You need to use r133 or newer for squeezeslave to work correctly.

I've tried all devices with the option -o, no sound.

As I told you before, I'm just finishing a project, publishing a
virtual SBS Server. Could it be possible, that you take a look at my
published VM to see, whether you get squeezeslave to work? It would be
very very kind an would be a big advantage! If you like you can take a
look at: http://squeezeplug.de. In the downloadarea you will find the
SqueezePlugVM Image. The Wiki you will find here:
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SqueezePlug.

I use VirtualBox as virtulisation Programm but images also works with
VM-Ware. As I told before. I've got it to work for one time without
compilation it worked out of the box. But I'm not able to reproduce it.

Thanks a lot.

with the binary I've created it don't work. The one successful attempt

On my image do the following:
apt-get install subversion
apt-get install libasound2-dev
apt-get install libncurses5-dev
apt-get install liblircclient-dev
apt-get install alsa

Then take the newest or the
squeezeslave-0.9-65-lnx26-alsa-display-i686.tar.gz version an try it
out. SBS-Server is allready installed on the VM you can easyly access it
by web. Start squeezeslave on the vm and try whether you get output to
the soundcard.

Ralpy, please get me right: It would be very kind, if we could get it
to work together. But I would understand if you don't have the time!

Ralphy,

I still have the VM with the running sound. But: I'm not able to

Hi,
I've installed SqueezeSlave on a Debian System in a VM. First time I've
istalled ist everything works fine and i got output from the soundcard.
So I tried to do it once more an it faild. I've never again got it to
work.
In the web-interface of SBS I can see the squeezeslave and it look as
I'm able to play music, but without sound!
Any ideas?

I've done the following:
copy squeezeslave to /usr/bin
chmod 777 /usr/bin squeezeslave
apt-get install alsa
apt-get install subversion
apt-get install libasound2-dev
apt-get install libncurses5-dev
apt-get install liblircclient-dev

Debian Version is Squeeze Kernel 2.6.32-3-686
I've tried squeezeslave-0.9-95-lnx26
and squeezeslave-0.9-65-lnx26-alsa-display-i686

Thanks a lot,
