IME balanced operation yields far more improvement than any amount of fiddling about with exotic interconnects or jitter reduction. But of course it's perfectly possible to team up a Touch with a DAC that has balanced outputs (Benchmark, Lavry, etc). Don't get me wrong, I love my Transporter, but it is now a legacy product. If it went bang tomorrow, it would be replaced with a Touch + DAC. -- cliveb Transporter - ATC SCM100A cliveb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=348 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=90294 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Transporter versus Touch
If used as a transport only , the touch is as good or exceeds the TP. It's DAC is mediocre , however the Transporters dac is also not the best thing since sliced bead to some. The biggest problem using the touch is that its screen is not visible from far away , so you got to use a droid or Isomething as a remote control if you actually want to see whats playing etc , or you can also go low tech and use a pair of binoculars I have both , touch and old style transporter , if I think of what I paid for the transporter vs the touch's current price , I did not get great value. -- Rodney_Gold TP/Z-sys RDP1 digital Pre/Meridian DSP5500's Or TP/DSP5500's Touch/Emotiva X-DA1 dac/bryston 4bst/Canton Ergo 120 dc SB3/Meridian DSP5000's TP/ Emotiva X-da1/Woo Audio Wa2 Headphone amp/Sehneisser Hd800's Touch/KrK Ergo/KrK VXT8 actives + 10S sub The nicest thing about smacking your head against the wall is...the feeling you get when you stop Rodney_Gold's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14618 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=90294 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Transporter versus Touch
Soundquality don't evolve as fast as many audiophiles think . If a product was god last year it's still good now. Everybody always inflate , every small or non existent, improvement with superlatives as life changing huge improvements etc . As non one substantiate anything by any sort of structured scientific testing audiophile anecdotes does not have any information about the products performance at all. Somebody's subjective impression does not have any meaning outside that persons own mind. The only thing you can read from such review is that that person had a good or bad experience with the product not why or how. It can be a real improvement or placebo effect, but nobody knows, not even the person claiming this. -- Mnyb Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub. [slim] Transporter versus Touch
The Transporter is a fine piece of audio equipment which has been avaible for several years now. Over those years there have been several newer editions of the SB and the latest Touch. My question is: Has the audio quality benefit of using the Transporter been eroded somewhat by the latest hardware in say the Touch? -- IRJ IRJ's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7031 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=90294 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Transporter versus Touch
This has been discussed extensively before, although not very recently. Obviously the TP's quality hasn't been eroded, but the Touch has certainly closed the gap between the cheaper SBs and the TP. A lot of people say that a Touch into a good outboard DAC can produce sound quality in the range of the TP, perhaps surpassing the TP with a good enough DAC. Do a forums search and you'll find plenty, mostly flame-free. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=90294 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
