I'm convinced that the only real money to be made from Squeezebox was in
selling the company. I absolutely love concept, love the products (most
of them), love the software (mostly), but I don't think it was ever
destined for mass consumption.

It's really not that bad. Squeezebox still lives and with the current
community endeavours looks set to last for a long time yet.

But what of Sean? Is he propping up a bar somewhere, railing the locals
with his achievements and how he sold his baby to a bunch of idiots who
had not idea what they'd bought or how to develop it? And how much money
he could have made if he'd just kept at it and got the capital needed to
develop it along his own line gawd... I could have been the next

And that about the other bloke... the one who retired to do up his

sean, i'm naming my kids after you, even the girls, you can bang my
wife, i'll help you move, paint your house, cut your grass, do your
taxes and take you to the airport... you don't want to know just how
far i'll go! ;-)

seriously, i want to thank you specifically for making a piece of audio
hardware that was equal to my love of music. until i got a SB, there
was no way for me to listen to my precious tunes at the quality level i
wanted! sure, there were ways, methods, and so on to do it, but they
were either sub par, (computer speakers, rca lyra wiressles, etc...) or
way too expensive.

YOUR PRODUCT, WAS IMO, GROUNDBREAKING IN THE SENSE THAT IT MADE
EXCELLENT HI-FIDELITY COMPUTER BASED TUNES AVAILABLE ON MY STEREO AT A
REASONABLE PRICE.

kudos to you.

and many thanks also go to Dean, who i hope sticks around for at least

There ya go! Maybe Mr. Adams will tell us his favorite song and we'll
all stream that song on that day. :)

My original SB player moment of silence was just a joke, not to be
taken seriously. It was an attempt to say that we are sad to see him go
but he leaves behind many satisfied customers who will use his products
for many years to come, but in a humorous way. Now that I am re-reading

maybe the song on the first screen shots of the original Slim (since I'm
sure what song/artist that was). Or maybe Sean could tell us his
favorite song or group.

The participants would also need a time a date and probably a duration
(loop song for 30 minutes on date X at time Y. Would look fairly nice
and obvious on Last.FM.

Edit: Guess Toby10 types faster then me or started reading the post

It can't be said strongly or often enough, Sean. Your products enrich

You should be particularly proud that, even after 9 years, no adequate
substitutes exist. Where else am I going to find a discrete attractive

Sean, this is sad news indeed for those of us who have enjoyed your
products so much over the past nine years. The experience of
discovering the Squeezebox (I was looking at an Olive Symphony when I
ran across a reference to the SB3 somewhere), setting it up, ripping and
tagging all of my music (and doing it again after a hard drive failure
-- OUCH!) and, finally, enjoying my collection with an ease I never
dreamed of has -- as others have noted -- enriched my life immeasurably.

2009-05-27 Thread Goodsounds

To Sean - Thanks, best wishes, and good luck. Your name will always be
associated with these great products.

To everyone else - We can enjoy these products because of the
creativity, skill and hard work of many people. Some are no longer with
the company, some still are, some never were. Some are in Mountain View,
some are in Canada, Switzerland, Germany, and who knows where else.

Sean deserves everyone's thanks, and so too does everyone else. We
should remember to thank them regularly and to make sure the gripes are
evenly balanced with thank yous.

Life goes on.

Sean,

One last thing. I'm disappointed that your farewell didn't also include
an acknowledgment and expression of thanks to all the people who
contributed to your success, however one chooses to define or measure
it. You didn't do it all alone, and likely wouldn't have done anything
at all without the help of a lot of people. Maybe you thanked them
privately, and if so, this comment is out of line. But it's the public
praises that mean the most.

Hey Sean

Thanks for everything. I still have my old slimp3 and often show it off
and talk about the good old Sweat Shop pictures you had up on the
original site.

Wow.. 9 years, time does fly. Thanks for coming up with a truly
innovative product, when home networks were a geeks-only affair. I hope
you keep in touch about future projects, but first enjoy a long break,
we need you to come back relaxed and with a new idea for a product
(Which I would like to pre-order now if that is OK?) I wish you all the

All the best

I feel like I am the 100th one to say so, but thank you for such an amazing

And none of this even touches on the level of customer service that your

Re: [slim] I am leaving Logitech!

2009-05-26 Thread Andy8421

Sean,

Sorry to see you go.

There are very few (no?) other firms where the founder took the time
and effort to reply to questions on a web forum. This set the tone for
the 'slim' approach, which has built up such a loyal following. It was
your no-nonsense answers to a number of frankly daft audiophile
questions that persuaded me to buy a transporter. I hope that logitech
streaming media manage to hang on to the ethos and open approach that
you fostered.

I wish you well.

Andy.

Re: [slim] I am leaving Logitech!

2009-05-26 Thread Keymaster

You've made my life (and my brother's, and my dad's, etc.) that much
sweeter. You've created products that people view with an air of how
did I ever survive before this??. So much for you to be proud of, so
much for US to be thankful for!!

CHEERS, GOOD LUCK and GODSPEED!!

KM
