Actually, the email you registered with is different than your forum
email. I just looked you up in both places.

You registered for the Slim.com email list on June 4th 2008, and opted
in for Squeezebox related and SqueezeNetwork related email.

Again, I am sorry if you received email you did not want, but you did
opt in to our list. You will not receive another survey from our list
again.

BTW I PM'ed you your forum email, and your email list email so you can

One of 2 ways... you either got the email I sent out last year on
September 24th that went out to the old Slim list. That email asked
everyone who was interested to sign up to the new Logitech list. Here's
the first line of that email:

Logitech is excited to invite you to join our new SlimDevices.com

and it landed here:

OR you signed up while waiting for a SqueezeCenter download.

 Thank you.

I think one is probably misjudging what they stand for, nowadays.

As for myself, I'm pretty impressed by their acquisitions. It shows

Maybe I just don't get it, or you are really trying to be hard headed
or just keep the thread alive. I truly hope that you were not excepting
a call from Logitech to see if it was OK to ask for your opinion and use
your e-mail address to do the asking?!

Facts:
1) You gave your e-mail address to Slim Devices.
2) Logitech bought Slim Devices
3) The banner at the top of this page says, Slim Devices, A Logitech
Company
4) Logitech now owns Slim Devices, lock, stock and barrels that
includes all info given to Slim Devices over the years to include your
e-mail address.
5) Logitech, within limits, can use the info given to Slim Devices as
it now sees fit as it is now the owner and caretaker of that
information.
6) There was no choice. Choice is not part of this equation.

Are you really that surprised that the new owner would like to get your
opinion of how Slim Devices has performed for you? You should be pleased
that the new bigger company cares enough to ask you for your opinion
on something they really have no stock in because it was from the Slim
Devices time line. To me it shows that they have stock and care about
the original customer base that Slim Devices developed.

Personally it seems to be a good fit. Two new products in under a year
(granted the Duet was already being developed) and products being sold
at Big Box Stores can only be seen as progress. Logitech left the same
people in charge (why interfere with a good thing) and left the product
line intact. I was worried that Logitech might do what other companies
do after an acquisition, try to recover the investment immediately by
downsizing product lines to the minimum most profitable IE say goodbye
to the limited production Transporter. They have made acquisitons
before and are smarter then that. They know they need to keep the
flagship no holes barred ultimate Network Music Player in the product
line.

Why don't you get used to the fact that Logitech don't just make mice
and keyboards...

So far, my living room has:
- A Logitech Harmony remote for my TV
- A Logitech surround speaker system for my TV
- A Logitech Squeezebox Duet

In my kitchen I have a Logitech Squeezebox Boom.

In my office I have a super-cool Logitech mouse:)

All these products perform great in each their field. I'm not ashamed
of owning them, so why should I be ashamed of the name/logo? It seems
kind of snobbish to me.

So far, my living room has:

In my kitchen I have a Logitech Squeezebox Boom.

In my office I have a super-cool Logitech mouse:)

All these products perform great in each their field. I'm not ashamed
of owning them, so why should I be ashamed of the name/logo? It seems
 kind of snobbish to me.
I am very happy for you.
Can't you simply accept that I don't want that logo in my living room

Nothing that Logitech makes can compete with the audio stuff I have,

There is some truth in the associations that product and manufacturer's
names give to things.
People don't just buy products because they are the most functional or
sensible to purchase.
Advertisers and marketing people know this.

After all, you don't see a Ford badge on a Volvo or a Jaguar ( OK, it
should now say Tata of India!).
The vehicle would still be of the same quality, but the badge would
downgrade it.
In fact, even the slightest association with Ford in the US knocked the
sales of some Jaguar cars.

Sure, no problem! And there are several ways you can get rid of it:
1) Throw out your Logitech equipment (apparantly it hasn't earned the
right to be in your living room)
2) Scratch off the logo like someone suggested

I'm not claiming that my surround set can compete with yours - it's
low-end, but I think it sounds pretty good for a low-end product and it
has a very small footprint with high WAF - in my case the alternative
was built-in tv speakers since there's no room for a real amplifier
by the TV:-)

What i am trying to point out is that you are living in denial.
Face it: your Squeezebox is a Toyota, not a Lexus. If you want a Lexus,

That was your initial post in this thread and several have answered

hardware without their logo. Obviously none of us know for certain. Not
even the Chief of Branding at Logitech knows the answer to a will there

Enjoy the SD logo on your SB3 and if you need more, go to a Transporter
or the secondary market for SB Classics. Expect to pay more for an

because they look so much better to some people ;o)

The brand and logo issue is a minor gripe, to be sure. :)

The Logitech purchase of SD is a very smart move on their part. With
the help of SD innovative products and streaming/server software we all
hope the Logitech name becomes as serious a name in audio as Apple is.
But it's the interim period that might be a bit awkward.

Imagine if Microsoft or IBM had purchased SD? Both well respected

be taken very seriously for audio purposes initially.
In time a device by any name (Microsoft, IBM, Logitech, Fisher Price)
would be taken seriously in any circles if they kept the quality and
innovation over an extended period of time.

Both well respected
industry leaders in the computer realm like Logitech, but neither would
be taken very seriously for audio purposes initially.
In time a device by any name (Microsoft, IBM, Logitech, Fisher Price)

I'd still want the Slimdevices logo.
Don't want a Logitech, Microsoft or IBM logo in my living room.

i've got both types of SB3.

the best bit about the original is the Slim duster cloth.. Now a
collector's item. i'll sell you mine for $200.00.

the logitech version has a much nicer remote control unit. There should
still be a half width case made for us cyrus and Naim owners.

the sound hasn't changed though

Strange, gave me a .zip file.

Inside that is a .ai which is an Adobe Illustrator file. I'm guessing
it is a vector drawing of the SlimDevices logo which you could supply
to a screen printing shop to get the logo on anything you wanted.

Your browser/OS must be fibbing to you, it is definitely a .7z file.

The Illustrator file is editable with the open source Inkscape vector

Great players anyhow and they keep on getting better.
So logi has so far proved to be god owner that develops it's asset.

But the logitech's logo and colorscheme is ugly.
Couldn't slim get themselves bought by a company with nicer logo ;-)

I like the fact the logitech logo is in discret black and white on my
controller.
The Receiver looks nice to with the logo in relief black in black
subtle, looks nice.

what IS the logitech logo anyway ? it's looks like an e-coli under
microscope :-)
Big companies usually have some meaning built in to their logo's ?

I agree, SD branded products certainly have more of a cool factor.
My SB3 purchase must have been right at the hardware cutoff point in
manufacturing with the new hardware displaying the Logitech logo. My
SB3 says Slim Devices on the faceplate, but the included remote has the
Logitech logo.

While demo'ing my SB3 to people I get two responses:
1) When they see the SB3 they sayWhat is a Slim Device?
2) When they see the remote they sayOh, these are the same people
who made my computer mouse

So much for the cool factor.:)

Branding stuff. Logitech probably bought SlimDevices and assimilated the
brand name because over time they want to be known for more innovative
technology than they have been up to now.

If they crank out great products it will become the case after a while.
If I had been Logitech, for now I'd kept the SlimDevices brand and added
A Logitech Company in the back, discreetly... as they do on top of
