[slim] Using Phone Turns Off Squeezeboxes
I have been using Squeezeboxes for a number of years (and I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with Logitech's abandonment - but they keep working!). A year or two ago I found out about Squeeze Player and Squeeze Commander and there are times I use them to play my music back through my cell phone. I've just recently noticed something frustrating about this system. Even when I'm not using my phone to listen to my music, and after I've rebooted and not yet run either program, when I make a call, the music stops on my home system. I usually use a landline for calls at home, but one day I was talking on my cell phone as I got home and came in and none of my Squeezeboxes were playing. Then I hung up and the music started again. I would expect this to be related to the two program I've mentioned above, but it happens even after a reboot when they're not running at all. I'd really like this behavior to stop, but I also like controlling my music from my phone. (I leave my music on when I'm out so if someone's nearby, it sounds like someone's home.) How can I get LMS to ignore my cell phone when I'm not using Squeeze Commander? Is your home system maybe synced with Squeezeplayer If you are running Wireless maybe the phone signal is making distortion (very unlikely) ??? Just some possibilyties ... I don't know of any plugins for either app. They're straightforward and what's weird is this happens even when they're not on. I know the bluetooth receiver in my car shuts off the car audio while the phone is in use, even if the car audio isn't specified to be used by the phone. I expect that. That's also led me to check and there's no BT device in the house that the phone is paired with that would connect to LMS or the Squeezeboxes. Also, when I do use the phone as a player, I do NOT sync it with my home Squeezeboxes at all. I haven't checked yet by using my cell phone while someone else is at home and I'm out of range. I will check by turning wifi off for my phone - I don't use it that much anyway. Pauses playback when phone is occupied with a call, even when Squeeze Commander isn't running. SqueezeCommander has an option, which is off by default, to mute or lower the volume when the phone the phone is in use. Did you enable this? We are currently waiting for some custom oscillators to be manufactured. JackOfAll is working on the driver for the DAC chip using the SWAMP board. I don't want to finalize the board design until we know we have drivers that work, I don't want to find out that oops, this pin needs to be inverted after the board files have been sent out. Between garden variety wandboards and the SWAMP board I think we can get the software working for everything we need. Those oscillators are probably going to be the gating item on getting CSP1 hardware built. The test boards I've done for DAC chips, regulators etc are working extremely well. The concept I'm working with is bypassing the internal digital filter in the DAC chip by doing the upsampling in software on the processor, this is turning out to sound extremely good. My original goal for this project was to get very good sound out of this, way better than it's price would suggest, but the results I'm getting right now indicate this is significantly better than that, it's getting close to the best there is. It's that good. Unfortunately in order to get that lofty performance might take a really good power supply, better than the basic switcher being talked about in this thread. After we get the real hardware built and people using it we will have to do some experiments with power supplies and find out what the real sesitivities are. I'm doing quite a bit to try and cut down on PS sensitivity, but experiments still show that the really good supplies sound better. The software guys continue to improve the software side, Triode and JackOfAll have done a phenominal job getting this all working, it's further along now than any other project I've ever worked on has been at this stage. My personal goal is to have CSP1s built and ready to send to the beta testers before the end of the year. I know everybody wants them tomorrow, but that is not going to happen. [slim] Getting a Squeeze device separated from a mysqueeze account?
So, I bought a Squeezebox Boom used on eBay. It's in good shape and working well but I can't connect it for internet music services to mysb account as the device is already associated with the old users account. I IM'd him on eBay but have not heard back from him.
