I actually think an LXC image would be a better bet than a Docker.

I think it might be a nice idea for some installations. But as long as
you'd still have to have a startup script for the Docker image, need to
configure a command line to define the music folder etc., installation
isn't really easier than installing a .deb file, is it?

Don’t Logitech still sell them? They did so fairly recently

Agreed, although I think een Snap package might be an interesting option
too, especially for the 7.9 branche.

[slim] Providing Official Docker Image?

2017-11-27 Thread rkrug

Hi

I have no idea into which forum this fits, so I'll post it here.

There was recently a short discussion about using Docker to run LMS. I
really like the idea, and especially the aspect of being able to move
the server to different hardware, backup of settings, Docker image of
MusicIP, ...

But there are quite a few Docker images available for LMS. My question
is:

Would it be possible, and would there be interest, in creating an
"official" LMS Docker image (which could interact with the MusicIP
Docker image as I think that would be a great feature!)? Is there
anybody here who would be interested in doing this? I will likely be
setting up a new Pi 3 running OpenMediVault (which contains a docker as
a plugin) and will than use a Docker image and the MusicIP image (likely
https://hub.docker.com/r/justifiably/logitechmediaserver/ and
https://hub.docker.com/r/justifiably/musicip/ as a starting point).

Any comments on this? Experiences?

I don't know if justifiably is listening here as well?

Rainer

Re: [slim] Preamp advice

2017-11-27 Thread Grumpy Bob

I can't offer advice - I'm still using my 20-something year-old Planar 3
with a Nait 3 with a phono card installed at purchase! For digitising
vinyl I'm using a Behringer UFO-202 ADC which has line out and a
headphone jack.

You could ask over at vinylengine.com as well.

[slim] Preamp advice

2017-11-27 Thread d6jg

New turntable for my Living Room arrives tomorrow. Controversially I
have shunned a Rega or Project and gone for an Onkyo CP 1050. It’s a
direct drive TT with retro styling and crucially for me has an S shaped
tone arm with detachable headshell. I like playing around with different
cartridges.
I am going to change some of the ancillary kit in due course.
The current TT is connected to a full integrated amp which has no
speakers attached, there is a tape out that feeds my main AVR. Thinking
of removing this and replacing with a preamp.

Does anyone know of a sensibly priced preamp that includes line out, USB
out and a headphone output? I can find the first two in the shape of a
Rega mm phono a2d but nothing seems to include a headphone out.
I have also found an ART USB Phono Plus PS Phono/Line Pre-Amplifier with
USB that may do the job.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B000BBGCCI/ref=cm_cr_srp_mb_bdcrb_top?ie=UTF8

I need the USB to digitise my vinyl to FLAC and the headphone out so
that I can listen while SWMBO watches TV.

Re: [slim] SB1 changed its MAC address

2017-11-27 Thread karlek

You could try to switch it off, stop LMS if you have one running, and
restart SB1 without a running LMS. SB should then automatically start in
setup mode.
If you’re connected to mysbc, disconnect the WAN from your internet
router and restart SB.

Re: [slim] SB1 changed its MAC address

2017-11-27 Thread bpa

I think the thread about mac address changing and xilinx are all related
to 3rd genplayers such as SB2, SB3 and SB classic.

One user with a similar issue woith an SB1 and problem MAC address -
turns out a new PSU and factory reset fixed the problem.

[slim] SB1 changed its MAC address

2017-11-27 Thread RubbleT

My Squeezebox Classic died a few weeks ago so I dusted off an old
Squeezebox 1 I had in a box. This is the model that has wireless but
only WEP. I'm using ethernet so it should hold me over until I can get a
decent deal on ebay.

I've been using the SB1 for a couple of weeks with no trouble, until
today. I can't use Pandora, get an error message. Long story short, the
MAC address on my SB1 has suddenly changed to something starting with
76:a2:ef... I searched and found a very old thread about this bug. And
I saw instructions about how to set the MAC address using the remote.
But this does not work for me.

The instructions basically said keep the left arrow pressed until you
get to config, navigate to MAC, and then press the right arrow key to
edit. Well, left arrow does nothing, I see one "bounce" on the SB1 but
it doesn't go to a different menu.

I can navigate to Settings using the down arrow key, right to enter,
down to Information, right to enter, down to PlayerName Information,
right to enter, and then I can see current IP address, and the incorrect
MAC. But right arrow does nothing at this stage, I just get a "bounce".
Does anyone know how I can edit the MAC?

I tried to do a reset on the device using the '+' key on the remote
while powering up, but I saw nothing to confirm that a reset actually
happened. I also tried the '1' key to do a "Program Xilinx" but also saw
no indication it did anything. My remote works fine, that is not the
problem.

I tried using net-udap to connect to the SB1 but was not successful.
Because I can't get it to reset?? I don't know. I've used net-udap on SB
Classics before.

Anyone have any ideas? I really just need to set the MAC address back to
what is printed on the bottom of the device. Thanks.
