Wrong. This is a misconception. The Internet is also subject to laws.
Enough said.

Wow.

Whose laws?

I lead a sovereign nation called bcnjr5land that occupies a square inch
on the back of my left hand.

It's against the law to use words with more than 3 letters there without
sending a pound of solid gold to the leader.

My left hand can access the Internet (in fact, I used it to type this
message), so shouldn't you be obeying my laws?

What I'm getting at here is that nobody owns the internet, so nobody has
any authority over it.

Trying to control it just makes things worse.

The best thing for you to do is to forget about it and let people focus
on other things. That way, nobody will remember whatever it is you
don't like.

2016-11-30 Thread Jaromil

Ed,

After such a period of calm and right on time for our beta2
announcement, having this inflamatory thread *really* doesn't helps
the project *at all*. It is not representative of any other debate
that has taken place on DNG in the past year, yet it is the top thread
appearing on our list archives right now that media attention has
woken up to the call of good results for all our hard work.
I really really wish you'd be more conscious of this.

FYI here below is the disclaimer presented when you join our lists

Our mailing lists are interactive and all subscribers can write. We
debate new software releases, events, projects, roadmaps in a
friendly environment with good humour and cyberfreaks hanging
around. The choice of language is open, just make sure someone
   understands you ;^)

If you are new to mailinglists, please read the Netiquette
Guidelines (RFC1855) and in particular the chapter 3.0 about
   One-to-Many Communication.

The mailinglists hosted here are completely free, they are
published on the web and can be searched in public
archives. Posting to them is limited to subscribers and
subscription is free. Your email details will be never disclosed,
neither will be sold to anyone. This service is provided as is, in
the hope it will be useful but without any warranty. Anyone posting
is the sole responsible for any information shared

Now back to us, I am personally committed to avoid this situation and
kindly ask everyone to avoid trolling and even further replies.

I will remove all the posts (do you have a list you can send me in
private or should just grep your name out?) and take measures so that
this situation doesn't repeates in future, also meaning you will loose
access to post to the list. If you like, you can write a last mail to
greet everyone and point out other fora where to reach you to discuss
your projects.

ciao

Perhaps it's better just to leave this troll be and ignore him.

In trying to suppress what has been posted, you will be as successful as if you
were to try to catch a fart you let go, and paint it green.

All those postings are replicated in umpteen archives all over the planet, many
of those beyond the reach of EU (or other) laws.

Which is a Good Thing, since it prevents tin-pot dictators, religious fanatics,
or deluded individuals, from censoring what is posted, and available to all, on
the Internet.

Sir,

I am asking the Devuan Administration to delete and destroy all
defaming emails on DNG as they infringe upon the (Personal) Data
Protection Act. In those threads, I never approved my abilities or
their lack to be discussed, yet, abusive respondents, felt they could
infringe upon my basic legal rights. Reading some threads, a reader
invariably gets the message that I am a person of very low
intellectual abilities. Other emails give further health related
information that I refrain from disclosing, especially on a public
place. This is in direct violation of the Personal Data Protection Act
since it was done publicly without my approval. Please note I am an EU
citizen which gives certain legal rights. I am considering of getting
legal assistance about this matter. I suffer of NO mental ilnesses
irrespective of what has been illegally posted on DNG regarding my
mental health.

I repeat to write that the distribution has no excuse to refuse to
satisfy my request. Defamation damages a person's reputation and is a
criminal offence.
