You can download the new file from: http://dx4win.ad1c.us/update.htm I encourage you to read the instructions (see the new window example) and download the latest version, especially if you're using an old version that downloads the uncompressed versions of the country file awards database (the new one is faster). If you already have a version recent enough such that Wget and UnZip are already installed, there's nothing else to do besides downloading the newest UPDATE.BAT. Here are the changes in this version: Test that WGET and UNZIP are installed Added Color and Title (VE2DC) Prompt before updating each file (VE2DC) The updater is now interactive (thanks Mel VE2DC) so you no longer have to comment out parts that you don't want to update. [Dx4win] DX4WIN.AWD award database release 3.13 - 7 April 2011
I have updated the DX4WIN.AWD file. You can download it from: http://dx4win.ad1c.us/awards/ This release contains 177 awards. Please read the installation instructions on the web page, or use the upgrade script at: http://dx4win.ad1c.us/update.htm The .ZIP file also contains a number of membership list files (plain-text files with a .list extension). These can be used to identify member calls in the DX Spots window. Please read the application note on Membership Lists for more information. You can read the full release notes here: http://dx4win.ad1c.us/awards/index.htm#3.13 Other than the normal updates, I removed the World Flora Fauna [WFF] award, and removed the band restrictions from all awards that aren't band-specific (see the top of the web page). [Dx4win] Missed com port
I am sure that the com port is a software generated port, either from microham or a usb to serial port. I get the same message occasionally. It happens during computer's stratup procedure. I believe that the computer still has not created the com port. Probably n1mm doesn't check if the com port exists or not. Same with writelog. I am not sure that is really useful this checking. If my com port is not there i will not have ptt. What's the problem and dx4win must check it. Maybe i want just to check my dxcc, an award, etc. Maybe it woud be better to check for com port only if i ask for it. Or better dx4win appears a warning message when i ask for a com port thet doesn;t exist. Especially for the cat control: ilke the way writelog works on this. If cat control exists then i have a freq reading, if not nothing happens (no freq). Instead of this dx4win tries for 5-6 times by default (i have changed mine to 1) to find the radio!!! I think there is no need for al these. 73 Kostas sv1dpi - Original Message - From: "Jay R. Re: [Dx4win] Dx4win Digest, Vol 84, Issue 7
hi all, just for the info, i have Win7-32 professional, and have the same thing happen, sometimes opening DX4WIN 8.04, an error window comes up and says the serial keying port is already open and it is not. usually i can close and re-open dx4win and then all is well. i do use N1MM also that uses that same port, but have not been able to figure out if there is a particular sequence that causes the error window in DX4WIN. 73 & soft landings, jay w, wa0www --Forwarded Message Attachment-- From: n...@arrl.net CC: dx4win@mailman.qth.net To: cristorce...@san.rr.com Date: Tue, 5 Apr 2011 19:58:49 -0400 Subject: [Dx4win] DX4WIN and Windows 7 My only problem is the serial keying port when DX4WIN thinks it's busy when you launch DX4WIN or Save Preferences. [Dx4win] Confirmations Changed, LOTW
Recently, I downloaded confirmations from LOTW. A couple of odd things happened. 1- I noticed it said 45 LOTW QSO's were confirmed even though I had downloaded 60 LOTW Confirmations. Out of curiosity, I imported the same file that I got from LOTW again and it said 10 LOTW QSO's were confirmed. Still curious, I did it again and it said 5 LOTW QSO's were confirmed!! Finally, I did it again and the import report said that zero LOTW QSO's were confirmed!!! Q1- Why didn't ALL the LOTW QSO's get confirmed the first time through and I had to import the SAME file several times to get them confirmed? 2- During the process above, my DXCC Award Report changed in a small way I wasn't expecting. All the new PJ's came up as C's correctly as they should have which was good. But, for Denmark, the * for Phone and * for 20M changed to C's. I've had these confirmed and DXCC credited for over 40 years! Q2- Why would these have changed back to C's and how do I get them back to *'s again as they should be? I'm running 8.04 for now since I'm still getting accustomed to the program since installing it a few months ago.
