Re: [Dx4win] Merging country files

2017-12-26 Thread Walt Kornienko
Hi Jim,

The problem is that the ARRL didn't archive the call sign of the station
worked.
It simply consists of a matrix of country and band/mode data. So these
dummy calls usually contain the country prefix, .e.g. 3ADUM.
I handled 3D2/R and 3D2/C by creating 3D2DUM0 & 3D2DUM1 for
each respectively. Each maps to the appropriate country. Confused yet?

I have to do all this extra work all because I didn't have off-site backup.
I'll be looking into Clublog as recommended by John, K9EL.

Re: [Dx4win] Merging country files

2017-12-26 Thread Walt Kornienko
Hi John,

Thanx for the reply. The reason for me keeping my own version of the
country file is a somewhat complicated issue. It all started when I lost
all
my data in a house fire a dozen or so years ago. Since the last submission
I made to DXCC was in 1992, I lost the certificates, cards, computer data,
and everything after 1992. I had to start all over again. I had to
somehow
get those confirmed countries into DX4WIN. Not sure what ARRL does now,
but back then they didn't archive all QSO data, including the call sign. As
for bands and modes they only kept track of the 1st QSO for that country and
it's band and mode
info. It's virtually impossible to back track, if you will. I created
dummy QSO's
for those confirmed countries, using a dummy call sign including band and
mode data. This all may start to sound confusing, but it seems to work :()
) So, I press on with Version 8 for now. Again, thanx for your interest in
this somewhat arcane problem.

[Dx4win] Merging country files

2017-12-25 Thread Walt Kornienko
Hey all,

Due to a data loss long ago, I need to manually merge my country files

to get the proper mappings. The Updater program never worked

correctly, hence my using the customary manual method of merging

country files, i.e. saving the "old" file in a temp directory, moving

the new file into the save directory then merging via the program menu,

Program/Databases/. I receive the following error:

"Country editor unavailable."

In the new Version 9 it appears that function either has changed,

isn't working (for me) or it's just not there.

Before I can roll over to the new Version 9, I must first resolve this
issue.

Any thoughts or suggestions as to how I can perform a merge of the old

and new country file would be helpful. Thanx for your time and
consideration.

[Dx4win] Filtering out beacon spots

2009-06-29 Thread Walt Kornienko
Hey all,

I don't understand why folx are spotting beacons on the
cluster, it's not like we have QSO's with these robots.
I would like to filter them out, just the spots where the
call sign ends in "/B", e.g. K2WK/B.

I've looked at the way Dx4Win recognizes a 'spot'
(in Notes/Recognizing a DX spot, in the Help file)
and have not been able to come up with the required
definition of a 'beacon' spot.

Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, I come here
in the hopes that someone in the community has
implemented something similar, or at least can
point me in the right direction.

     Regards,
