You will want to fill in the "QSO Note" field in the program window with the contest information. I think that DX Log logs should convert correctly using the program. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, , https://ad1c.us __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Dx4win] Import ADIF from DXlog
Hio group. I have done this weekend the CQ WW SSB Contest, (by the way Jim, AD1C thanks for the exchange 59 33--59 04 on 10/28/23 22:05). The fact is that I have first used the Dxlog program, and the truth is that I have been gratimously surprised. I just want to add, in the Notes for This QSO: CQ World Wide 2023. I have used other programs for competitions that matter a lot of information that for me is not relevant. When exporting the DXLOG I get a screen with the following data: QSO Comment If I add here: CQ World Wide 2023, in which DX4WIN field would you add it? Should I click on the other options? QSL Message CQ World Wide? etc etc etc. Thanks in advance for the help. 73 de EA8AM __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Dx4win] Import ADIF
Hi Luc, All files downloaded from LOTW will by default end up in the folder Downloads. The first on will be called lotwreport.adi, the second lotwreport(1).adi, the third lotwreport(2).adi until lotwreport(99).adi thereafter the files will be named with current day's date lotwreport211120.adi, if you do not delete them I suggest you delete all your lotwreport files in your Download folder. Then the next you download will be lotwreport.adi 73 de Mel - SM0MPV Den ons 17 nov. 2021 kl 20:28 skrev Luc : > Hi. Re: [Dx4win] Import ADIF
Sorry Luc but I can not understand your question. I am trying to explain the procedure confirming QSOs using LotW QSLs: You go to LotW and download your LotW report. Really this is an adif file. It's name or the download date does not affect anything. Then you run dx4win.In QSO windows (this is the window you write the callsign) go to LotW>Confirm LotW using ADIF file. A new window will open where you need to select the downloaded file. 73 Kostas SV1DPI Στις 17/11/2021 21:27, ο/η Luc έγραψε: Hi. The question is, if someone uploads their log, and there is a confirmation, for example of a QSO from 5 years ago or 1o years ago, is it registered in my last import? or should I always import the full file? Hi Paul, if you are importing your ADIF file, you want your tag to look like this: CQWW DX RTTY 2018 Using your tag: CQWWSSB2018-TEST This will put the info in Notes for this QSO. The number has to match the field of characters including spaces 73, Wes, W3SE / ZL3TE > On November 2, 2018 at 7:03 AM Paul F6EXV wrote: > > > Hi all > I have just tested it. > I have written CQWWSSB2018-TEST in the QSO note field. > In DX4Win version 9.0.4.1976, this note is copied into the "Note for > this Call" field instead of "Note for this QSO". > The origin program (where the QSOs were logged during the contest) is DXLog. > > Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug ? > > Thanks + 73 > Paul F6EXV > > __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Re: [Dx4win] Import of ADIF "Comment" field - answered
Dave, Thanks. I was not aware of the option in WSJT to not put db reports into the comments field. One other thing to consider is that when you log a WSJT contact, you can type something into the WSJT "comments" part of the log entry. I think this field is more useful if applied to the QSO and not to the Callsign. The ADIF spec says it is about the QSO. I think DX4WIN should conform to the ADIF spec and change to import the comments field into QSO Notes in the DX4win log. 73, Paul K5ESW > Paul, > This used to bother me. I believe that option was put in WSJT-X to help people if their logging program could not handle FT8 mode and FT8 style signal reports. Re: [Dx4win] Import of ADIF "Comment" field - answered
Paul, This used to bother me. I solved the problem by unchecking the "db reports to comments" box under the Reporting tab in Settings within WSJT-X. By doing that, nothing is saved to the comments field in the ADIF file and thus nothing gets imported into the Call Sign Notes field in DX4WIN. 73, Dave, N4QS -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net On Behalf Of Paul Ferguson Sent: Monday, July 02, 2018 8:56 PM To: Dx4win Subject: Re: [Dx4win] Import of ADIF "Comment" field - answered Len (K1NU) noted that when a WSJT log is imported into DX4WIN, DX4WIN puts the contents of the field of the WSJT log into the DX4WIN "Callsign Notes" field. What is in the WSJT field is usually the mode and signal reports such as "FT8 Sent: +01 Rcvd: +00". This is clearly QSO-related and not Callsign-related information. When I look at an ADIF specification, it says the field is a Comment field for the QSO (not for the Callsign). I do not know why WSJT decided to put the mode and signal reports in the field because other fields already contain the mode and signal reports. DX4win imports these mode and signal report fields into the proper parts of the DX4WIN log. The problem with importing the field into the DX4WIN Callsign Notes is when you work a station multiple times. With each repeat QSO, QSO-related info is appended to what is already in Callsign Notes. With many QSOs, Callsign Notes gets pretty mucked-up with info that does not belong there. I would like to see DX4WIN make a change so that WSJT field is put into DX4WIN Callsign Notes. 73, Paul K5ESW > Never mind... I found my own answer. Re: [Dx4win] Import of ADIF "Comment" field - answered
Len (K1NU) noted that when a WSJT log is imported into DX4WIN, DX4WIN puts the contents of the field of the WSJT log into the DX4WIN "Callsign Notes" field. [Dx4win] Import of ADIF "Comment" field
When you import an ADIF file (e.g., from WSJT) into D4W, whatever is in the "" field gets imported into the D4W "Callsign notes" field. This seems wrong to me; in the WSJT example, this field contains the signal reports. A better match seems like "QSO Notes". So, is there an ADIF field that D4W will match to "QSO Notes" on import? If so, I could do a text replace before I import the ADIF file to D4W. Re: [Dx4win] Import .adi file error
Think this rings a bell from the past! Look at the first few records of the .ADI file and see if you see "" (End Of Header) anywhere. Seems like having no caused a problem in the past. If you DON'T see one, add "" (minus the quotes) at the very beginning of the file and try the import again. Re: [Dx4win] import
I'm not familiar with Writelog, but generally speaking if you export your contest log in ADIF format you should have no difficulty importing it into DX4WIN. You'd just do a regular import and it should work. (Unfortunately, I'm not in front of my shack computer and don't have a copy of D4W handy to give you the specific steps.) If that's what you're doing and it's not working, if you can tell us what the problem is (do you get an error message?) we should be able to help. [Dx4win] Import from LoTW - QSOs previously confirmed
Hi Folks, I'm working on a new application note (more info when it's completed). In the process, I (on purpose) cleared all the LoTW Confirmed flags from my log (LoTW | Clear LoTW Confirmed) then imported an ADIF file full of LoTW confirmations. When the import was done, DX4WIN reported that 1672 QSOs were previously confirmed. I'm not sure how that can be, because the log started with *NO* QSOs confirmed via LoTW! The only thing I can thing of is that I have some (many) QSOs with mobile operators on USA county lines, so I logged two QSOs in rapid succession (seconds apart), one from each county. Something consider these as duplicates even though they are not. That wouldn't work because you left out the length specifier. It's ADIF_NAME:Length so it knows how many bytes to read. [Dx4win] Import Question
I'm running V8.03. I just imported my ADIF file for the ARRL June VHF contest. The ADIF Comment field is ARRL June VHF Contest. After import, the Comment fields are placed into DX4WIN's Notes for this call section; I thought they'd be entered in the Notes for this QSO section. This is a problem. Let's say I work a station whose operator is Tom, and I enter his name in the Notes for this QSO section. I then worked him last weekend. Now, for all QSO's with this station, the Notes for this call section contain Tom | ARRL June VHF contest ! Can't find anything in the Users Guide about this, and there doesn't seem to be another tag field in the ADIF spec that one can possibly try. 73 Mark K3MSB __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Have you tried running this program on your log to convert the contest abbreviations to real ADIF county names? http://software.ad1c.us/ADIF_County/ In fact, this program will create two QSOs out of the county line, and will add 1 second to the second QSO. 73 - Jim AD1C On Sun, May 2, 2010 at 1:31 AM, Art - W6KY w...@yahoo.com wrote: When importing the 7 Area QSO Party ADIF log the import aborts because of duplicate QSO's. Re: [Dx4win] Import Abort - Duplicate QSO's
Hi Jim, Logged as 2 QSO's. But with different reports representing the county's. K7ZX sitting on the county line... Using 8.01.. Did the County conversion program. Same results. Never had this happen before because in a contest when I am in a run mode I always work dupes. Contest software counts them as zero so it doesn't matter. Never dupe in SP. N1MM software. This contest I only worked abt 100 Q's so I can easily remove the 6 or 8 county line dupes, but in a major contest... I really don't see the need to 'abort' an import due to dupes. Re: [Dx4win] Import Abort - Duplicate QSO's
Hi Jim, Grid boundaries are allowed, but the rules are a bit excessive (my opinion). See http://www.arrl.org/files/file/Awards%20Application%20Forms/VUCCRULE1a.pdf . I did this a couple times last summer and actually posted little movies of my set up and zooming in to the GPS showing the XX.000 display. Of course, by the time you set up, the GPS location is different, but that's just me whining. Grid boundaries are not allowed in the ARRL VHF contest - you can only exchange 1 grid. 73, Bud N7CW -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Jim Reisert AD1C Sent: Sunday, May 02, 2010 10:04 AM To: Mel Cc: Art - W6KY; DX4WIN Reflector Subject: Re: [Dx4win] Import Abort - Duplicate QSO's On Sun, May 2, 2010 at 10:42 AM, Mel ve...@videotron.ca wrote: Should also check grid... perhaps Paul could fix this. Re: [Dx4win] Import Abort - Duplicate QSO's
OK, I was thinking of a VHF contest (which is really the only time log import would become an issue), and did find this rule, which would seem to prohibit grid-line operation in all ARRL VHF contests (50 MHz and above): http://www.arrl.org/general-rules-for-arrl-contests-on-bands-above-50-mhz 1.11.A station located precisely on a dividing line between grid squares must select only one as the location for exchange purposes. A different grid-square multiplier cannot be given without moving the complete station (including antennas) at least 100 meters. So I stand by my claim that although Paul could make the change (check VUCC grid when importing a possible duplicate QSO), it probably isn't necessary. 73 - Jim AD1C On Sun, May 2, 2010 at 11:19 AM, Bud Semon N7CW n...@cableone.net wrote: Grid boundaries are allowed, but the rules are a bit excessive (my opinion). [Dx4win] Import Excel file
Hi all I am running into a major problem trying to import an Excel file. Actually, I just got an excel file of FB8ZP's log dating back 1983, which I will probably upload to LoTW. I have been working first on the excel file itself, and have already solved some problems. I had to change ALL frequencies, indicated in the log as 14,213 for example to substitute 20m instead. That is solved. I then exported the file into a .prn file. When I import the file, after creating a new filter, ALL bands are wrong and I get an error message. They are all listed as 20m, and the error message gives me the right band, even if it is correct. Band is imported as 20m and the error message says Error:Band=20, which means the band is really 20m ! As soon as there is a / in the callsign, I loose the first letter(s) of the call once the file is imported. The original excel file lists the name of the station worked : how can I get it saved in the destination file ? I am using DX4win v 7.05.04 and Excel version is 2002. Any help please ? [Dx4win] import
I have imported adi file from writelog to DX4WIN a number of times and the US state shows up in the proper block. I just finished using WIN-TEST at another station (my call was used W1EQ ARRL 160 CW test this past weekend) I imported the WIN-TEST file to DX4WIN. All the countries made it but the states are not in the state location. When I did a summary for states, no new states on 160. For DX, I have 36 new worked countries.. Any suggestions on how to get the states in the proper box? Bob, W1EQ ___ Dx4win mailing list Dx4win@mailman.qth.net http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win
Re: [Dx4win] import
Hi Bob, I wrote a utility to aid in the import of ADIF logs into DX4WIN: http://dx4win.ad1c.us/wl2dxq.htm It was originally geared towards WriteLog, but I've been enhancing it to work with other loggers. The problem is that many contest logging programs put the exchange information (i.e. section) into an application-specific ADIF field which the importing program doesn't recognize. Please send me your ADIF file (or at least the first dozen or so QSOs) and I'll work on the import later this week. 73 - Jim AD1C 2008/12/7 Bob Garceau [EMAIL PROTECTED]: I have imported adi file from writelog to DX4WIN a number of times and the US state shows up in the proper block. Rog Rog, one way to do this is to use this program I wrote: http://dx4win.ad1c.us/wl2dxq.htm This will all you to set a group number up-front when it converts the WriteLog ADIF file to a native DX4WIN import format. When I select Edit Group names. The side slide works just fine. But when I go to filter/ selection the slide will not work at all. Maybe it is not suppose to work. I gather If I want the contest to be stamped on import with that name I have to select that contest from the selection drop down. This I cannot do. Re: [Dx4win] Import Function Question
Hi Lou, The Options for Duplicate QSOs pop-up has a scroll bar on the right side that you can use to see the rest of the choices, including the one you're looking for. However, that scroll bar is almost invisible in 7.05, I hadn't noticed this in earlier betas. You can use the up/down arrow keys to see the choices instead of the scrollbar. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C/Ø, [EMAIL PROTECTED], http://www.ad1c.us - Original Message From: Louis Dietrich [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Tuesday, September 9, 2008 4:56:30 PM Subject: [Dx4win] Import Function Question Guys, Did I miss something?...I tried importing from LOTW...using File] Import ] File ] Import ] ADIF...
