Hi Luc,

I wrote a program that should help you with this:

https://ad1c.us/dx4win/adif2dxq/

Please read the instructions on the web page.

You will want to fill in the "QSO Note" field in the program window
with the contest information.

I think that DX Log logs should convert correctly using the program.

[Dx4win] Import ADIF from DXlog

2023-10-30 Thread Luciano de la Rosa
 Hio group.
I have done this weekend the CQ WW SSB Contest, (by the way Jim, AD1C
thanks for the exchange 59 33--59 04 on 10/28/23 22:05).
The fact is that I have first used the Dxlog program, and the truth is that
I have been gratimously surprised.
I just want to add, in the Notes for This QSO: CQ World Wide 2023.
I have used other programs for competitions that matter a lot of
information that for me is not relevant.
When exporting the DXLOG I get a screen with the following data:
QSO Comment If I add here: CQ World Wide 2023, in which DX4WIN field would
you add it? Should I click on the other options? QSL Message CQ World Wide? etc
etc etc.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: [Dx4win] Import ADIF

2021-11-20 Thread Claes "Mel" Carneheim
Hi Luc,

All files downloaded from LOTW will by default end up in the folder
Downloads. The first on will be called lotwreport.adi, the second
lotwreport(1).adi, the third lotwreport(2).adi until
lotwreport(99).adi thereafter the files will be named with current day's
date lotwreport211120.adi, if you do not delete them

I suggest you delete all your lotwreport files in your Download folder.
Then the next you download will be lotwreport.adi

Re: [Dx4win] Import ADIF

2021-11-18 Thread Kostas SV1DPI

Sorry Luc but I can not understand your question.

I am trying to explain the procedure confirming QSOs using LotW QSLs:

You go to LotW and download your LotW report. Really this is an adif
file. It's name or the download date does not affect anything.

Then you run dx4win.In QSO windows (this is the window you write the
callsign) go to LotW>Confirm LotW using ADIF file.

A new window will open where you need to select the downloaded file.

Hello Dave,

What file are you trying to import? From WSJT-X, you need wsjtx_log.adi. Use
File > Import/Export > ADIF > Import and navigate to the folder with your wsjt
log file. (appdata\local\wsjtx)

eQSL | Confirm eQSL using ADIF file

This will also fill in the State, County, Grid and/or IOTA fields for
those confirmed QSOs if that information is given in the eQSL
download. Many people upload QSOs with the wrong information, so be
careful if you are using these QSOs for awards.

Alan,

I think the U and C flags are documented in the on-line help (F1 key in the
not-found window)

Note that the current approach (Since version 9.05 I think) is to modify
the QSO but
put the old value in the notes for the QSO.so the change can be made
visible.
The question is if the old value was empty if this should be noted by
indicating State= (State was empty)

[Dx4win] IMPORT errors

This may have already been addressed but when I updated my email from
Outlook 2007 to Office 265 Outlook version my email got messed up and
I can't find the info I need.

I noted when I did my latest LOTW update using Jim, AD1C, excellent
instructions I got some new results I had not seen before.

The first one was when I placed "IMPORT" for a search in the NOTES FOR
THIS QSO field I got many many GRID SQUARE= errors but no grid square
number was shown. In the past if there was not a match the import
error would show the grid square the DX station provided to LOTW so I
could correct it in my log. But now there is no grid square shown so
what am I supposed to place in my DX4WIN GRID field?

Next, when I check the REVIEW QSO's NOT FOUND under the F column I now
see a new notation, the letters U and C. I have searched the help
files but could not find what the notation U or C mean in the F
column. In the past there was only an X or . (period) in this F
column.

I am guessing when these changes were made Jim gave an explanation but
thanks to MS forcing me to update to 365 I can't find it

Re: [Dx4win] IMPORT FROM LOTW

2019-03-25 Thread Karel Matousek

Hi,

the biggest problem, however, is that a large number of US stations upload
their QSO data to the LoTW server no matter what county they operated. I am US
county hunter and I have to cancel dozens of QSL confirmations because there is
another county written on LoTW than the QSL card I received via bureau or QRZ
com. These QSO with different county do not match my QSO data at LoTW!

Hello Luc,

You do not need to import the entire file.  You are only downloading QSOs
that have been confirmed since your last download:

Show QSLs received since: 2019-03-18 (-MM-DD).

When someone uploads his old log and confirms a QSO from 20 years ago, it is
a new QSL, and will be downloaded.

I received one just the other day for a QSO in 1999:

Subject: [Dx4win] IMPORT FROM LOTW

Hi.
I have been using DX4WIN for many years.
I currently use version 8.05
I have about 50,000 QSOs registered and every 15 days approximately, I
export the last QSOs to LoTW using the filter (F8) and putting in Upload
Date of LoTW 01/01/1901.
So perfect, everything is fine, I have not had any problems so far.

My question is when it is in the opposite direction, or import my LoTW to
DX4WIN.

The first time I did it importing the entire file, from the LoTW page.

The following occasions:
Your QSO
Download Report
(Here I put a date, for example the last two months or the last year)
And I keep it.

The question is, if someone uploads their log, and there is a confirmation,
for example of a QSO from 5 years ago or 1o years ago, is it registered in
my last import? or should I always import the full file?

Greetings to all and good DX, s whenever the propagation accompanies us.

Re: [Dx4win] IMPORT FROM LOTW

2019-03-25 Thread Mike Cizek W0VTT

Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug ?

Depending on your contest log program, you have to save an ADIF file

2018-11-01 Thread Wes Printz W3SE / ZL3TE
Hi Paul,

if you are importing your ADIF file, you want your tag to look like this:
CQWW DX RTTY 2018

Using your tag: CQWWSSB2018-TEST

This will put the info in Notes for this QSO.
The number has to match the field of characters including spaces

Re: [Dx4win] Import of ADIF "Comment" field - answered

2018-07-03 Thread Paul Ferguson
Dave,

Thanks. I was not aware of the option in WSJT to not put db reports
into the comments field.

One other thing to consider is that when you log a WSJT contact, you
can type something into the WSJT "comments" part of the log entry. I
think this field is more useful if applied to the QSO and not to the
Callsign. The ADIF spec says it is about the QSO.

I think DX4WIN should conform to the ADIF spec and change to import the
comments field into QSO Notes in the DX4win log.

2018-07-03 Thread John, K9EL
I believe that option was put in WSJT-X to help people if their logging
program could not handle FT8 mode and FT8 style signal reports. Use it if
you do not have Version 9 of DX4Win.

Paul,
This used to bother me. I solved the problem by unchecking the "db reports
to comments" box under the Reporting tab in Settings within WSJT-X. By
doing that, nothing is saved to the comments field in the ADIF file and thus
nothing gets imported into the Call Sign Notes field in DX4WIN.

"Callsign Notes" field.

What is in the WSJT field is usually the mode and signal reports

[Dx4win] Import of ADIF "Comment" field

2018-06-23 Thread Leonard Kay
When you import an ADIF file (e.g., from WSJT) into D4W, whatever is in
the "" field gets imported into the D4W "Callsign notes"
field. This seems wrong to me; in the WSJT example, this field contains
the signal reports. A better match seems like "QSO Notes".

So, is there an ADIF field that D4W will match to "QSO Notes" on import?
If so, I could do a text replace before I import the ADIF file to D4W.

Is it possible to import, from LoTW an ADIF file (QSLs received) to DX4Win

'accepted' by DX4Win?
In LoTW there is the possibility to download this kind of file (QSOs

Think this rings a bell from the past!

Look at the first few records of the .ADI file and see if you see "" (End

If you DON'T see one, add "" (minus the quotes) at the very beginning of
the file and try the import again.

Please let us know what you find.

Please send me the ADIF file you are trying to import. It sounds like
something is wrong with it. I hope you did not edit it with Microsoft

Try using "Download Report" on the left hand side of the awards tab.
That has all of your confirmed QSOs in it.

Mark, it's no different from downloading any other LotW confirmations. See:

That I can understand if the QSO already is in the log.

I looked at one of the QSOs. Here the Grid in the ADIF file from Clublog is
different from the Grid at QRZ.com. Could that be the reason?

[Dx4win] Import of ADIF file from Clublog - strange notes are added

2015-02-21 Thread Joe - OZ0J
Hi

I am QSL manager of OZ90IARU, where several operators are uploading there local
logs to www.clublog.org

I am importing the complete log regular from Clublog and always chose imported
QSOs is ignored so only new QSOs will be added DX4WIN.

In the Notes for this QSO I get message like

Import:{Grid=KO91oq}

I have looked in the ADIF file from Clublog, and the message is not there.

For the mentioned QSO there is a gridsquare but that is KO85tt

My standard gridsquare is JO55WF.

I have 273 QSOs with this kind of text out of 7.459 QSOs. The ADIF files have
been created from N1MM, Win-Test, HRD and LOGIc9 and not all QSOs gets the text.

Does anyone know how the import stuff is created?
And if yes can it be turned off?

Please let me know if you need further QSO details.

Re: [Dx4win] import

2013-09-11 Thread David, K2DBK
I'm not familiar with Writelog, but generally speaking if you export your
contest log in ADIF format you should have no difficulty importing it into
DX4WIN. You'd just do a regular import and it should work. (Unfortunately, I'm
not in front of my shack computer and don't have a copy of D4W handy to give you
the specific steps.)

If that's what you're doing and it's not working, if you can tell us what the
problem is (do you get an error message?) we should be able to help.

Joe, you should save (or export) your WriteLog as ADIF. Then you can
import the ADIF file into DX4WIN straight-away.

[Dx4win] Import from LoTW - QSOs previously confirmed

2013-05-06 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Hi Folks,

I'm working on a new application note (more info when it's completed).
In the process, I (on purpose) cleared all the LoTW Confirmed flags
from my log (LoTW | Clear LoTW Confirmed) then imported an ADIF file
full of LoTW confirmations. When the import was done, DX4WIN reported
that 1672 QSOs were previously confirmed. I'm not sure how that can
be, because the log started with *NO* QSOs confirmed via LoTW! The
only thing I can thing of is that I have some (many) QSOs with mobile
operators on USA county lines, so I logged two QSOs in rapid
succession (seconds apart), one from each county. Something consider
these as duplicates even though they are not.

Maybe Paul can comment on this...

Re: [Dx4win] Import contest name

That wouldn't work because you left out the length specifier. It's
ADIF_NAME:Length so it knows how many bytes to read.

You might also consider using Jim's ADIF converter to fix up contest

[Dx4win] Import Question

2010-06-16 Thread Mark K3MSB
I'm running V8.03.

I just imported my ADIF file for the ARRL June VHF contest. The ADIF
Comment field is ARRL June VHF Contest.

After import, the Comment fields are placed into DX4WIN's Notes for this
call section; I thought they'd be entered in the Notes for this QSO
section.

This is a problem. Let's say I work a station whose operator is Tom, and I
enter his name in the Notes for this QSO section. I then worked him last
weekend. Now, for all QSO's with this station, the Notes for this call
section contain Tom | ARRL June VHF contest !

Can't find anything in the Users Guide about this, and there doesn't seem
to be another tag field in the ADIF spec that one can possibly try.

[Dx4win] Import Abort - Duplicate QSO's

2010-05-02 Thread Art - W6KY
When importing the 7 Area QSO Party ADIF log
the import aborts because of duplicate QSO's.
But, I worked several stations on the county lines.

Logged as 2 QSO's.
I have about 6 stations with 2 QSO's each on the
same band. County Lines...
What to do...

Could change the calls in the ADIF file and then change

I just changed the times so they are a couple of minutes apart.

I guess Paul hasn't fixed this yet. Dupes should also check County/Grid,

Sounds like it might be fairly easy to fix... unless time is the primary
key of his in-memory file. Maybe Paul could sneak this in ver 8.04.

Hi Art,

How did you log the call and QTH? What version of DX4WIN are you using?

If the QSOs are the same *except* for the County, I believe that
DX4WIN 8.0x will NOT think they are duplicates.

Have you tried running this program on your log to convert the contest
abbreviations to real ADIF county names?

  http://software.ad1c.us/ADIF_County/

In fact, this program will create two QSOs out of the county line, and
will add 1 second to the second QSO.

Hi Jim,

Logged as 2 QSO's. But with different reports representing the county's.

Never had this happen before because in a contest when I am in a run
mode I always work dupes. Contest software counts them as zero so
it doesn't matter. Never dupe in SP. N1MM software.

This contest I only worked abt 100 Q's so I can easily remove the 6

need to 'abort' an import due to dupes. Maybe a yes or no to proceed
but not abort...

If the QSOs are the same *except* for the County, I believe that
DX4WIN 8.0x will NOT think they are duplicates.

Have you tried running this program on your log to convert the contest

In fact, this program will create two QSOs out of the county line, and

Re: [Dx4win] Import Abort - Duplicate QSO's

2010-05-02 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
OK, I was thinking of a VHF contest (which is really the only time log
import would become an issue), and did find this rule, which would
seem to prohibit grid-line operation in all ARRL VHF contests (50 MHz
and above):

  http://www.arrl.org/general-rules-for-arrl-contests-on-bands-above-50-mhz

1.11.A station located precisely on a dividing line between grid
squares must select only one as the location for exchange purposes. A
different grid-square multiplier cannot be given without moving the
complete station (including antennas) at least 100 meters.

So I stand by my claim that although Paul could make the change (check
VUCC grid when importing a possible duplicate QSO), it probably isn't
necessary.

[Dx4win] Import Excel file

2009-12-01 Thread F6EXV
Hi all

I am running into a major problem trying to import an Excel file.
Actually, I just got an excel file of FB8ZP's log dating back 1983,
which I will probably upload to LoTW.
I have been working first on the excel file itself, and have already
solved some problems.
I had to change ALL frequencies, indicated in the log as 14,213 for
example to substitute 20m instead. That is solved.
I then exported the file into a .prn file.
When I import the file, after creating a new filter, ALL bands are wrong
and I get an error message. They are all listed as 20m, and the error
message gives me the right band, even if it is correct. Band is imported
as 20m and the error message says Error:Band=20, which means the band
is really 20m !
As soon as there is a / in the callsign, I loose the first letter(s) of
the call once the file is imported.
The original excel file lists the name of the station worked : how can I
get it saved in the destination file ?

I am using DX4win v 7.05.04 and Excel version is 2002.
Any help please ?
Thanks + 73

[Dx4win] import filter

2009-09-01 Thread PY2YP
Hello gentlemen,

I'd like to erase the notes in the NOTES FOR THIS QSO FIELD. Which
field to I have to set its position to zero, when editing the import
filters, in order to not import the notes. I am using 8.01 version.

Thanks in advance.

[Dx4win] Import/Export

2009-01-10 Thread Ian Fugler G4IIY
ViestiI have just accidently deleted the ADIF option in the Import/Export menu.
Could someone let me know which file it is, please? Is it the one with the
IEP extension in the SAVe directory?

I can copy from a back-up directory, but only want to copy the relevant file.

Many thanks, Ian___

Yes! You only have to copy the dx4win.iep file from your backup save
directory.

[Dx4win] import

2008-12-07 Thread Bob Garceau
I have imported adi file from writelog to DX4WIN a number of times and the
US state shows up in the proper block.

I just finished using WIN-TEST at another station (my call was used W1EQ
ARRL 160 CW test this past weekend)

I imported the WIN-TEST file to DX4WIN. All the countries made it but the
states are not in the state location.

When I did a summary for states, no new states on 160.

For DX, I have 36 new worked countries..

Any suggestions on how to get the states in the proper box?

2008-12-07 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Hi Bob,

I wrote a utility to aid in the import of ADIF logs into DX4WIN:

http://dx4win.ad1c.us/wl2dxq.htm

It was originally geared towards WriteLog, but I've been enhancing it
to work with other loggers. The problem is that many contest logging
programs put the exchange information (i.e. section) into an
application-specific ADIF field which the importing program doesn't
recognize.

Please send me your ADIF file (or at least the first dozen or so QSOs)
and I'll work on the import later this week.

adif format. Send it to a stand alone file and import from there into
dx4win. How do I get the list to change from 000 ( all qso's). I cannot
seem to get the highlight to change from 000. I know it is simple but the

Rog, one way to do this is to use this program I wrote:

http://dx4win.ad1c.us/wl2dxq.htm

This will all you to set a group number up-front when it converts the
WriteLog ADIF file to a native DX4WIN import format. You will still
need to give the group number a NAME in DX4WIN, but that's covered in
the DX4WIN manual (Filter - Edit Group Names).

Does this help?

When I select Edit Group names. The side slide works just fine. But when I go

I have to select that contest from the selection drop down. This I cannot do.
I can change the group tab in qso preference but only to a single number not

The slide bar only works when you're ADDING a new selection - try it!

Hi Lou,

The Options for Duplicate QSOs pop-up has a scroll bar on the right side that
you can use to see the rest of the choices, including the one you're looking
for. However, that scroll bar is almost invisible in 7.05, I hadn't noticed
this in earlier betas. You can use the up/down arrow keys to see the choices
instead of the scrollbar.

[Dx4win] Import problem

2008-01-27 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Did you visually inspect the ADIF file you are trying to import? Does
it look like an ADIF log, and is it for the contest you expect?

While working a a bunch of QSL cards I discovered that many of the states I
had confirmed are no longer confirmed. I had all 50 states confirmed on 6
bands on both CW and SSB and now this is not true.

Unfortunately I don't know exactly when this happened, either as part of the
upgrade to 7.03 or as part of importing LOTW records.

Now I need to go through the all cards to check and see which ones have
changed. Not looking forward to that task.

Dick,

It sounds like you are trying to import an ADIF file that has already
been imported, otherwise there wouldn't be any duplicate QSO's.

As Jim stated earlier, make sure the BARTG RTTY SPRINT log is really
that log and not the UK RTTY log. N1MM names the logs the same when
exporting to ADIF.

I guess no matter how careful you think you are, there is always a way to
screw up. I found my so called problem. The ADIF file was ok from the BARTG
SPRINT. What happened was I picked up the ADIF File from another contest to
import. Does not work when you have already imported it once before. I guess
I just did not look at what I was importing as it has always worked ok. I
just went back through everything and found what I had done. My 108 BARTG
calls are now ok in DX4WIN. My thanks to Jim, AD1C, for his suggestions.
Lesson learned - pay attention to what you are doing. hi
