[Dx4win] eQSL Confirmations
I uploaded to eQSL DX4WIN logbook contacts from the 160M SSB contest. DX4WIN asked if I wanted to upload 496 contacts. That was the correct number of contacts made so I said yes. I have the generated .adi file which was uploaded to eQSL. A few days after the contest I downloaded the eQSL report (which I have) and imported it into DX4WIN. I was surprised to see all 496 contacts were confirmed. I then went into eQSL to see who was confirmed. Only saw about 40 confirmations on eQSL. This phenomenon also happened during the last contest. I also read about someone reporting the phenomenal success rate after that previous contest. It appears that I must be doing something wrong - although I've been uploading to both LOTW and eQSL via DX4WIN for quite some time. (BTW, DX4WIN showed 17 confirmations from LOTW which is correct. So no issue with LOTW). I now need a way to purge all the bogus eQSL confirmations and find out how to fix the confirmation issue. It doesn't appear to be an eQSL issue since eQSL doesn't show everything confirmed. It may be an issue with the DX4WIN generated .adi upload and/or .adi down load files - but I can't read .adi. Just guessing. I downloaded a big chunk of my log from LoTW and loaded it into DX4WIN. That caused ALL of those QSOs to be marked as confirmed where most of them weren't. Whatever you use to download QSLs from eQSL must include ONLY confirmed QSOs. The DX4WIN import assumes that they're all confirmations and sets the eQSL Confirmed' flag. I suspect that there's a way to clear the eQSL confirmed flag using Multiple QSO operations but someone else will need to help you with this. Re: [Dx4win] eQSL Confirmations
What you should be doing: 1. Export to eQSL 2. Upload ADIF file from #1 to eQSL 3. Wait. 4. Download outbox (I think) from eQSL. It's the one that has your confirmations. I think inbox is all your QSOs, so don't download that one. 5. First, go into your Preferences, go to the QSO tab, and inside the Label/Upl flag box, check both LoTW and eQSL. This will mark all new QSOs (as you log them) to be uploaded. Going back to what you did, by setting the Upload date, DX4WIN knows those QSOs have *already* been uploaded, thus won't export them again. That's why your export didn't do anything. All new QSOs to export should have only the Upl flag set, not the date. What I described about your preferences above above does this automatically for all newly-logged QSOs. Going back to the export step (assuming date is *not* set), after you export, DX4WIN will ask if you want to set the export date for the exported QSOs and clear the upload flags. Answer YES. I hope this makes sense. You should rarely, if at all, ever have to set the upload flags or dates yourself. Nor should you have to create any kind of filter to export these QSOs. Experiment a couple of times with your current log (without saving the log) to see how this all flows. It's actually pretty simple! 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, jjreis...@alum.mit.edu, http://www.ad1c.us __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

I was able to upload my log to eQSL but I failed to put an upload date. Can I re-due the upload of the entire log with an upload date and then download from eQSL and not mess anything up that shows eQSL confirmation? It's easier than that. From the QSO window menu: eQSL | Set eQSL Upload Date Just set the date to the day you generated the ADIF file that you uploaded to eQSL. Also make sure the eQSL fields in your logbook for those same QSOs are set to 'N' (there's a menu item to do that too). This way you won't export those QSOs again. Now you have have marked all your QSOs properly. However, if you made QSOs since generating the ADIF file for eQSL, you'll need to undo the changes described above by clearing the eQSL date and setting the eQSL flag in your logbook for those new QSOs. Hopefully it's only a few. If it's more, then use F8 to filter for dates AFTER you generated the ADIF file for eQSL, and use the menu items under eQSL to clear the dates and set the flags. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, jjreis...@alum.mit.edu, http://www.ad1c.us __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Mel, Search for import: (with a colon) in the notes for the QSO (or ) There will be entries like State VA; indicating that the state in the QSO, MD for example, did not match the value found in the ADIF file (VA) I will be happy to fix the help if I knew how. Re: [Dx4win] eQSL
Good... There are a few improvements that could be made that probably don't involve too much effort. I actually moved all my data to a more expensive, much more feature rich logging program. But after a few years, I missed D4W. The last thing I would want to see is a lot of new features... I like the fact it is fast, slick (easy to enter data) and accurate (thanks Jim). Anything Paul does to the program has to reinforce these attributes because it's what distinguishes D4W from the other programs. Areas to be addressed: Data safety. eQsl. user configurable modes. a table containing the mode, type (Phone,CW,Digital,Image) and equivalent ADIF mode if necessary. For example: USB,P,SSB LSB,P,SSB CW,C FM,P FMN,P,FM PSK,D,PSK31 PSK31,D interfacing with subscription XML callbook services. I love the spotting in D4W but I believe there are a few simple improvements to make it even better... I'll save it for a separate email to see what the gang thinks. There are some things that other programs I think he should stay away from because they generate a continuous need for fixes. Scraping data from QRZ.com or Buckmaster. Digital modes. It would be better to interface with MixW, DM780 or Winwarbler. Let someone else keep up with the latest digi modes ;-) BTW I am active on Digital modes but use a dedicated program. And I would like to see it interfaced with D4W for data transfer. [Dx4win] eqsl
Hi all, After just receiving a notice that I have 85 eQSL's waiting for me and going through them all, I was wondering how to differentiate these from regular QSL's in dx4win. Optimally, it would be nice to have an additional pulldown in the 'Method', but I guess I'll just put them under 'other' for now. So now I have qsl cards and qsl files. What is next? ;) 73 DE AI3W, Rick -- next part -- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... [Dx4win] eQSL export
Steve, I exported my log from DX4WIN to eQSL using the ADIF export format. I had too many QSOs to send them as one file {nowhere near your 100,000, however!!}, and had to break the log into pieces using eQSL's splitter program (available from their web site). After splitting the ADIF file into pieces, you then import and process each file separately - takes about 30 seconds per file. If I recall correctly, the max number of QSOs per individual transfer was low... around 1,000. With as many QSOs as you have, I would send eQSL a note and ask if you could arrange the transfer some other way. (send them the full ADIF file as a ZIPped email attachment or on a CD and let them do it from their end...) IF YOU HAVE PSK31 QSOs IN YOUR DX4WIN LOG One error occurred with the ADIF export/import: DX4WIN exported my PSK31 QSOs as mode=PSK3 and mode descriptor length= 4 (which conforms to the ADIF standard). However, eQSL's import routine does not recognize PSK3. After you run your ADIF export, you have to do a global search/replace on your ADIF file and change every mode to something eQSL does accept - either PSK or PSK31 (you can use Notepad to do this). After globally changing the mode, you must then adjust the mode descriptor length in the header to 3 (for PSK) or 5 (for PSK31) depending on which you selected for the global replace. IF YOU DON'T MAKE THESE CHANGES BEFORE IMPORT, eQSL will reject all of your PSK31 QSOs. (NOTE - there is no documentation anywhere at eQSL to help you troubleshoot the error when you slam into it... you are simply informed that a QSO was rejected) Hope this helps, -larry K8UT - Original Message - From: GW4BLE [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: DX4WIN dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Wednesday, January 01, 2003 2:35 PM Subject: [Dx4win] eQSL export Hello, Has anyone any recommendations on exporting DX4WIN files to eQSL? OK. This works in 5.03. First, you need to change your preferences to indicate that filters are by Date Range. FILE/PREFERENCES. Select QSO. Under Search, QSO Date should be changed to RANGE. SAVE/EXIT. Then from the main screen, select FILTER. Enter the starting date of the range. The program will then prompt for the ending date. This should result in a set of Q's between and inclusive of the two dates. Check this with Filter/Count. See if the count makes sense. If it does, then do an ADIF export. It will say that a filter is in effect and do you want to use it. Answer YES and the ADIF file will include only the Q's in the filter. That should do it. 73, Mike WA0SXV -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of GW4BLE Sent: Thursday, January 02, 2003 10:46 To: DX4WIN Subject: [Dx4win] eQSL export..MORE...
