Re: [Dx4win] dx4win and FT5000

2011-04-02 Thread Charles Ristorcelli
I'll add another comment.

Having opened my big fingers with comment (below) that everything was OK
when I set preferences to FT2000, I now amplify the problems.

I did find the FT5000 rig support choice in V8.05, and chose it in radio
control section of Preferences.

Whenever I set QSO | Add realtime using this selection and the FT5000 rig ,
I get error message from DX4WIN that says radio timed out.

End of story.

And, having looked very carefully at the DX4WIN operation with the FT2000
rig choice in Preferences ( I went back an chose it in Preferences), I now
find that the PSK31 mode (which I seldom if ever use) does NOT set the
DX4WIN mode window. All other modes (AM, FM, CW, SSB, RTTY) get set
properly.

I realize I am not matching the rig to the rig radio control selection in
preferences, but it is odd that all the other modes get recognized.

So,

1, I was wrong in saying things were fine with FT2000 selected as radio
control (while operating the FT5000)

2. Choosing the FT5000 as radio control rig in Preferences does not work at
all.

I'm puzzled.

Just to add fuel to the fire, I am running V8.05 with my FT5000. Operating
system is Windows 7 Home Premium.

I could not find FT5000 among supported rigs in V8.05. So I left the radio
 preference as FT2000.

 Software and rig work fine.

I am going to go back and see if I missed the FT5000 as a V8.05 supported
 radio.

 I'll give an extra lead,

even on RX this happens. in the dxwin 8.04 and 8.05 (yes i installed 8.05
 with the latest rig files)

 Let me explain:

the mode it changes to, its dictated by the packet dxcluster spot that
enters. Occasionally even the BAND in the main dx4win screen changes
 shortly
to the spot (frequency) that arrives, most annoying feature..

RIG in SSB - dx4win mode stays OK, but freq in Freq box jumps all over
 the
 place, Band stays OK
Rig in CW /RTTY/PACKET/AM/FM - dx4win mode jumps to mode in last dxspot,
Freq box jumps all over the place, Band stays OK

Bummer if you run a cw pile and want to log, 50% chance you get the wrong
 mode when entering a qso..

First tell us what RIGFILE you use ? probably an old one for the ft2000
 or
 ft9000,

In dx4w805 is a new rigdriver for the FT5000, dated 2 januari 2011 so why
 stay on dx4w804 ?

I recently connected the FT5000 to the PC with dx4win as logging
 software.

Following strange behaviour has been noticed:

When operating in CW (any band) the logging software reads the mode as
ssb, or psk31 when the rig is in TX.

I doubt that it is a RFI problem as it occurs on any band, any power
level. even with only the ptt closed (that is 0 watts out)

  All the rs232 are shielded.

The freq (khz) in the main dx4win , disappears aswell

Occassionally the is 0.00 in it, giving an error when logging.

  Has anyone similar observations?

rig file is latest made by on4aoi (as you know Guy)

i doubt rig file has anything to do with the fact that soft read freq/mode of
last received dxspot
