Re: [Elecraft] Firmware final?
FYI - Version 4.51 - The CW Decode/CWT function on my sn# 705 is mostly non-functional no matter what I set the threshold to. I mostly use the CWT for zero beat or to see how far off others are calling (DX) - that still works on the stronger sigs but not on weak ones. -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/Firmware-final-tp7558181p7558412.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Elecraft] P3 Center Freq save per band
Alan, Thanks for the reply! The static setting will not do what I was interested in. It sets the display for a fixed span and will not display the sigs beyond that setting, even if you tune outside the span. I set my K3 memories for 7.030, 14.030, 21,030, etc. When I select the band, the K3 tunes to that freq but the P3 may center on 14.035 or 14.025 instead of 14.030. I like to tune down the band and see the next 20Khz display which would be 14.000 to 14.020 if the P3 went to 14.030 initially for the center freq. When it goes to 14.035, the next screen does not go to the band edge, it goes to 14.005- Kinda a nuisance for quickly seeing DX on 14.000 to 14.020 quickly. I would think that the P3 would always go back to same center freq when K3 went there but it seems to go +/- 5Khz either way in a somewhat random manner. I am on ver 1.09 FW Thanks anyway 73's Gill -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/P3-Center-Freq-save-per-band-tp6949392p6960611.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Elecraft] P3 Center Freq save per band
I am not sure how to set the P3 center frequency in the fixed mode so that it stays put between band changes. I use the M keys + number to select bands. I can save all the band settings using VM key. If I have a span of 20 Khz on the P3, set the center to say 14.30 Mhz, it will not stay saved. Switch band to 3965 Khz and back and it will go to 14.35 Mhz - sometimes but not always. Does the P3 remember settings along with K3?? [Elecraft] Tunable carrier (birdie) 20445khz
While looking for a source of some steady carrier interference on the 20M and 15M bands, I noticed that one of them at 21.017.9 Khz moved (on the P3 screen) in proportion to the tuning of the K3. Obviously a birdie as I checked with no antenna. The birdie had side lobes - i.e. there were weak carriers either side at 12Khz offsets. Tuning around, I found what appears to be the fundamental at 20445.11 kHz. The freq's are with rig on CW normal - the freq's listed change with mode. Turning P3 off makes no difference. Re: [Elecraft] K3 ERR KEY - Continuous Keying
See if you can isolate the problem - Turn off the K3 disconnect the computer from the K3, turn it on and check the config menu setting for PTT-KEY. Turn both PTT and KEY to OFF. Turn off the VOX. Turn off the K3 and reconnect the computer. Turn on K3 then start up computer. You should be ok. If not call Aptos. otherwise go to PTT-KEY menu and turn back on whatever was originally on. If the problem re-appears, then your computer is asserting either the RTS or DTR line continually and now you have to trouble shoot the computer - likely some program or program update is screwed up. All this is assuming that sound card is clean and not activating VOX. If you turn on VOX and it keys again, then you still have a computer soundcard issue. Re: [Elecraft] 2.10B narrow filter anomaly
Bob, Thanks for the confirmation. I have spectrum lab - will take a look after FD. I also think the level drops several db (to the ear) as the filter switches from 150hz to 100hz, most noticable on weaker sigs. 73's Gill You may be on to something. Using the 100 Hz FIR filter and injecting a steady carrier, I looked at the receiver output using Spectrum Lab. I observed multiple spurious tones, 2 of which are only 15 dB down from the desired signal. The freq spread between the desired signal and the 1st spur is 2x the difference between the signal and filter center, so you have zero beat at filter center. And so on. Take a look at it with an audio spectrum analyzer, it's interesting. Zero beat with the other -15 dB spur is at the upper filter skirt. Aliasing? The result is the same for the 50 Hz filter, but the 50 and 100 Hz IIR filters are squeaky clean under the same conditions. Subjectively speaking, when listening to on air signals, the signal starts to sound bad to my ears as you tune it close to the upper filter edge zero beat point, but within 20 Hz of filter center the effect seems subtle, and easily overlooked. However, viewed on the spec an, it's clear that something isn't quite right. I observe no such problem with ver 1.78 FIR filters under the same conditions. Maybe someone else can take a look at this.
