This is a good point and I am with you for as long as you are not going to stretch the limits of the part you make. In my case, this is rather often true unfortunately. when I touch off I always check the milling limits and visally that is quite convinient. Apart from this, one really could look at it as a nice gadget, especially when considering the amount of cpu 'wasted'. As I announced, I will set up a test box and play with it and let you know how I get along. I totally agree with you, axis is really not set up for touch operations like feed, jogging and touching off. But there is one great thing to get this done imho the "royal" way: use a wireless joypad (mine is still on its way to me, so I use a USB logitech joypad for the time being)! I have it set up like this: http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/emcinfo.pl?Simple_Remote_Pendant using this hal file with minor change: http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/emcinfo.pl?A_New_Approach_For_Using_Joypads_With_EMC2 look at the bottom for "upload:joypad_v3.hal" The very ingenous way to jog is, it is progressive. The more analog stick you give it, the faster it moves. Just great and would not like to miss it anymore! > Once touched off, the run/pause/stop buttons are fine. I guess so, but I still have buttons free in my joypad. So I will set the joypad up to play them once I got some time. I will publish the modified file here when done. greets chris __ Do You Yahoo!? Steve - Thanks for your patience with me, I saw a thread with minimal replies and minimal progress so thought I'd jump in. I was actually experiencing some insomnia and it appears I am again tonight...Sorry I didn't look at the change logs and bug reports. As for trying the newer packages for Jaunty or Karmic, you're probably Ok to reassign the dependencies and use those packages. As always I'd recommend a back up of critical information, but undoing the change if it doesn't work should be rather straight forward. Try and contact the authors/developers of the driver through those pages and see what they have to say. My thought is even with the evolvement of the Kernel, and the realtime kernel we use for EMC, that the HID sub-system hasn't been overhauled so much as to break the driver migration, But, as with anything, exercise caution. Good luck. Which version of the mutouch driver are you using? According to the Ubuntu Hardy (didn't see a mention of which version of Ubuntu you are running either so I am making an assumption) link I googled (http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/xserver-xorg-input-mutouch) the current version is 1.1.0-3 with dependencies on libc6 >= ver 2.6.1-1 and xserver-xorg-core >= ver 2:1.4. What versions are those? Looking back and seeing that you originally installed the evtouch driver I googled that and found the Ubuntu package page on that http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/xserver-xorg-input-evtouch - you may find more details there. There are several dependencies there as well. HTH!
