it creates menus from your gnome/kde installs and is quite handy.

I think rpm has an --nodeps option. (you can find it in the rpm manpages)

I would try :

rpm -i --nodeps e17genmenu-4.0.0-1.fc4.i386.rpm

If e17genmenu doesn't work after this installation, you'll have to look
for this missing depency

[e-users] conky can't run smoothly under e17

2005-09-13 Thread phyrster
Hi the enlightened:

I am using conky which is a torsmo descendant in debian and e17 environment.

The problem I have is:

when I enable 'double_buffer' to yes to avoid conky flickering, the whole
screen is messed and the covered with wobbling grey color.

How to make conky stop flickering while maintain a clean desktop? Any
workaround to 'double_buffer' problem?

That's the same problem as with torsmo. e17 takes total control over
the root window, while conky tries to directly draw on it - so it's
like a fight between them, lol.

no idea about a solution - wasn't there an option for torsmo to make it
use it's own window instead of drawing to root window? than making that
borderless, and allways below might do the trick..

Well something is wrong with mine. The first time enlightenment starts
it works, but as soon as it's updated it shows N/A ?, for as long as
enlightenment is running. If I do restart enlightenment, or if I
change the theme (which appears to restart enlightenment), then the
module correctly shows up again (but will change to N/A ? when it
updates 30 min later). I'm running from cvs from about 5 days ago.

Ok, think i got the bug, not in the module but at rssweather.com.

For some locations e.g mine (icao-code: etht) the feed
www.rssweather.com/icao/ETHT/rss.php
gives me two year old weather information

Probably there is no more any weather station or no weather station
reporting informations to this service!

Just test your icao-code!

Changing the icao works for me. But thats not the weather at my home.

[e-users] Can't Compile

2005-09-13 Thread David P. Donahue
I grabbed a whole new cvs download of E17 today and just tried to
compile eet (first on the list of pre-requisites at get-e.org) and I'm
seeing some strange behavior. I run autogen.sh and then configure with
prefix=/usr (where E17 is currently installed) and no errors are seen.
But when I run make, it just loops the following output indefinitely:

=BEGIN PASTE=
 /bin/sh ./config.status
config.status: creating Makefile
config.status: creating eet.pc
config.status: creating src/Makefile
config.status: creating src/lib/Makefile
config.status: creating src/bin/Makefile
config.status: creating eet-config
config.status: creating README
config.status: creating eet.spec
config.status: creating eet.oe
config.status: creating eet-native.oe
config.status: creating eet.bb
config.status: creating eetXnative.bb
config.status: creating debian/changelog
config.status: creating config.h
config.status: config.h is unchanged
config.status: executing depfiles commands
config.status: executing default commands
==END PASTE==

Eventually I just ctrl-c and it exits make with Error 1 and that's it.
At first I thought that maybe I somehow got a broken cvs download
while someone was checking something in, so i wiped it clean and grabbed
it again. But the same exact problem persists.

Any ideas?

David P. Donahue

[e-users] scrolling desktops

2005-09-13 Thread Christoph Gysin
The new modifications on the pager allow to scroll desktops with the mouse. Also there is a popup
which displays all desktops and highlights the currently selected.

- I'd like to completly hide the pager, and only show the popup, since it looks like the same thing
to me.
- To scroll desktops, I'd like to be able to scroll anywhere on the desktop, like i was used to in
fluxbox (actually, that was the only feature I was missing when I went back to e16 ;-).

Is this possible?
Comments?

[e-users] Feature request, no go zones

2005-09-13 Thread Johan
Could it be possible to add some type of no go zone to modules so that
you can't move/resize a window over it?

This way you can always see the modules you frequently use (pager, ibar)
and hide modules you use rarely (temp sensors, etc)

I using the expand maximise policy now and it works well for maximizing
but when i then create a new window it mostly comes on top of the pager :(

Maybe an idea? Or is it crap?
