DLL editing
I need to translate comment send to users by a program only available in english... I think I read a long time ago here about a program (MSDN?) that would allow to edit text msg inside a DLL. Any idea if it really exist? What/where? Re: OWA not working
It sounds like you may have to uninstall OWA then reinstall it. I know this sounds harsh but I had to do this with earlier SP's of 5.5 where OWA was used. Not sure which SP your on but you may have to this. Perhaps if you had mentioned the troubleshooting steps you'd taken so far, poor Jacob would not have wasted his valuable time telling you to do something you had already done. Calendar Exmerge
Exchange 5.5 sp4, Outlook 2000 and 98 I've confused myself at this point. I have a departing user (A) that is being replaced with new user (B). Of course, user A has a calendar schedule going out a year with numerous others in group meetings. User B would like to continue using the schedule so with User A's permission I've copied User A's calendar into a User B's mailbox into a sub-calendar folder. When I was checking the work by opening a few of the meetings, I noticed that User B is now the meeting organizer. I thought that with the deletion of User A's mailbox, these calendar items would be orphaned and that it would not be appropriate to change them. Typically when I done something of this nature, I've warned the new user that they would be able to print the calendar, but not to alter the existing items other than to delete them and create new items. Am I off base here? Is it possible for these calendar entries to be moved to a new mailbox, say using exmerge, and the new mailbox actually take ownership and continue as the previous user? I've seen changes to items of this nature cause corruption in other mailbox calendars. thanks, Chip Brannon _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

NTFSDOS uses NT's file system driver, so I don't see why it wouldn't allow access to a RAID partition. -Patrick R. Strange behaviour in OUTLOOK - unknown delivery receipts
Exchange 5.5 SP4 Outlook 2000 I seem to be getting 'Delivery receipts' every now and then for messages I didn't send out. What's wierd is that the content of the message says : Your message To: Unknown Subject: was delivered to the following recipient(s): USERA on 2/24/2003 2:49 PM USERB on 2/24/2003 2:49 PM When I check the mailboxes of USERA and USERB, I don't see any emails from me nor do I see anything in my SENT ITEMS box to these recipients. I checked the Headers of these messages to verify whether they were some kind of bogus spoofed emails and the headers were blank which tell me that they were generated internally. Any ideas ?? _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: a bit OT: no disk space
It shouldn't have a problem with HW RAID. With HW RAID all the Raid stuff is done at the hardware level (of course) and the OS/software don't know or care anything about it. -Ben- Ben M. Re: a bit OT: no disk space
How does he know that it is out of disk space. I have a friend who has a client that runs WinNT/Exchange 5.5 server. The client provides very few details (because he does not know squat), except that the server does not boot due to lack of disk space. And the server has RAID5 (client does not know if it is hardware or software RAID5). I have not seen this system yet, it is miles away from me and I am not sure if I want to see it. I have a feeling that they are using NT software RAID5. (I also have a feeling that they were not doing any backups and choked on the transaction logs) I am pretty sure I can boot this machine by sticking an IDE drive into it and installing a second copy of NT on it. BUT... I am trying to think logically... it this is a software RAID5... will another copy of NT be able to see the data on the RAID5 that was created by a different installation of NT? Not sure if script director from MicroEye has reporting capabilities or not, but it's the only app I know that deals with folder permissions in bulk. Note to self: Grant permissions to self on CEO's calendar using multiple nested DLs. er. yes, but you can use https for that (anyone know of a free cert provider?). The point was that it sounded like the guy wanted to 'hide' his OWA implementation, and this is one way of doing so. When we migrated from Pegasus to Outlook/Exchange 2000 (back in summer 2001) we used a utility called UniAccess to convert data direct from Pegasus folders to Exchange mailboxes. Dymo label printers (www.dymo.com) come with software that lets you print single and multiple contact address labels straight from the Outlook client (97 and 2000, not sure about later versions). RE: Rehome all public folders - recommended method?
The quick answer would be NO, you don't need to touch the Replicas tab after this. However, after all the changes are made, I would wait 24 to 48 hours for things to stabilize and then go back and spot check to make sure that you have replicas where you want them. Inside a site, you really DO NOT need to have replicas of public folders on each mailbox server, unless the network links between the two servers are crowded and/or the have the capacity of plastic straws. I guess what I was thinking really didn't get down on the paper clearly. You should follow this procedure: In the Exchange admin program, go to PUBLIC FOLDERS, ignore the system folders for now. Find the PF branch that you want to move to the "other server" in your site. Find the top level folder of that branch. Open the properties, go to the REPLICAS tab. Make the changes to the replicas that you want on this folder. Once your changes are completed, go back to the GENERAL tab. Click the box marked "propagate these properties to all subfolders". Check the box that says "REPLICAS". Now before you click on the APPLY button be warned... WHATEVER YOU DID AT THIS LEVEL WILL OVERWRITE ANY SETTINGS THAT ARE PRESENT IN FOLDERS FURTHER OUT ON THE BRANCH. Be very very sure that you want to overwrite any replica information on lower level folders. Click the apply button. The system will give you a clock and show the folders of the branch where your changes are being applied. Set your egg timer for 24 to 48 hours. When it dings, go back to the same folder you accessed previously, open the properties and this time go to the ADVANCED tab. Set the drop down menu for the server you now want to be the home server of this branch. Go back to the GENERAL tab and click the "propagate these properties to all subfolders" box. Think hard, do you really want to do this, then click the APPLY button. You now have changed the home server of that branch of public folders. Note: if any folders in the branch that you have just changed are homed in other sites, and restrict administrative changes to their home site, you will get an error popup telling you of the problem. RE: SPAM filters
Not a "plug-in" filter, but we use Xwall from www.dataenter.at - can run on your Exchange box, but I use it as a perimeter relay. IMHO it's cheap for all that it does, and it works perfectly from the six months we've been using it. regards, Paul -- Paul Hutchings Network Administrator, MIRA Ltd.
