If it's spam, block the addresses.

If it's not, install the language pack.

Subject: Ban e-mail addresses

How can one effectively ban email addresses with illegal characters in them.

Illegal being not in the alpha bet a-z , is there a rule one can set on the

server or does this has to be on the client application:

My users are receiving mails from places with different char i.e. Korea and

when the client receives them it halts because it tries to load the correct

windows langue setting for it. The e-mail addresses usually have weird char

in them. Can some one point me in the correct direction?

Hi,

is it possible to allow users to send messages to a public folder only by
email and not allow them to post directly into that folder (or cut/paste)?
This is regarding Exchange 5.5.

*groan* PST Files

2002-09-19 Thread Exchange.ListServe

Hi.

Standard Version of EX5.5, SP4. 200+ users.

We are looking at educating users in not storing everything in their email,
but storing in either a .pst or .ost. Money is an issue, my company won't pay
for us to upgrade to 5.5 Enterprise or Exchange 2K, so there's no option IMO
other than educate the packrats, and set up an archiving solution.

I've also read the arguments in the FAQ, but wonder what other folks in a similar
situation would do, with regard to archiving.

Currently our priv.edb is 13.9 GB, while the pub.edb is 226MB, so would archiving
essential emails on Public folders be a reasonable idea?

Some of our client handlers need to keep archives for some of our clients, in case
of compliance issues.

Much like Robert, it's an inherited policy that I've stumbled into the
sole reponsibilty of, and I'm cobbling bits of info together for a
guideline and policy docco to stamp some authority over it. It gets a bit
worrying though, when 8-10 people contantly use nearly a fifth of the
servers capacity.

My boss has a friend that has a company that backs up their servers by
taking a spare hard drive from a RAID 5 config home ever night.
Currently we are using a VAX tape drive to back up our systems. He seems
to think that the hard drive solution sounds like a great idea. I think
it's possibly the worst idea ever created. Besides the constant
vibrations, and temperature changes that the hard drives would have to
withstand could everyone give me some more reasons as to why this is a
bad idea. I think I just need a little ammo from other admins to help
convince him.

Open your admin tool, chose the Chief Exec mailbox properties, delivery options.
In Alternate recipient type the deputy CE's name and tick the box that says
deliver to both.

Course, she'll then say that she doesn't want it to happen all the time!

Public Folder Properties

2002-08-28 Thread Exchange.ListServe

I have a query.

I've created a mailbox for our warehouse department to use for recording stock
deliveries, which
is available for all corporate users to access, which is also backed up by an email
address, that they
can use to request stock receipts etc. The problem is that most users see an email in
the warehouse
shared foler, they delete it because it's not for them.

Is there a way to tie down the mailbox to just display the calendar and the inbox,
read only?

We're running Ex5.5 on NT SP6, clients use either Outlook 98 or 2000.
