Moving Samba PDC to NT PDC
I've inherited a network running Samba 3.0 as a PDC and would like to migrate to either NT 4.0 or windows server 2003 and was wondering if anyone could offer any suggestions on how to move the SAM over to a Windows PDC. Any tools out ther that will help acomplish this task. I've already tried replicating the SAM by hand and that has not worked. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. RE: only 6 Mb after online defrag
I've been trying to find out if there's some regular maintenace that should ne performed on the Exchange server, ie. eseutil, isinteg etc. Everything I've read so far is specific, and always warn against using any of these utilities unless ther's a problem. Anyone recommend otherwise. Thanks for clearing the up the white space Mario Fernandez Network Administrator DataSynapse 632 Broadway 5th Floor New York, NY 10012 tel. (212) 842-8849 fax. Here's what I'm doing: Moving Exchange from one server to another. Both are configured with NT4 SP6a, E5.5 SP4. Both are in the same NT domain, the same Exchange Org and Site, each server has a different name. After the successful move, I will be removing the original (which is the first server in site) Exchange server from the site; but the actual server will remain as it is our PDC. That is, only the Exchange server application will be removed from it. The original server is also the Proxy server and is the server with the physical connection to the internet. The new server is a member server of the domain. This is a single domain. Looking at his instructions, I've completed everything thru number 5. I'm not sure I understand steps number 6 and 6a. When it says move any connectors from the old server to another server, does that mean to the new Exchange server or a third server? And since this is a single site, can I assume that step 6a doesn't apply for me? As you can see I'm pretty confused and new to Exchange. I can't even see how to move connectors. If you can help here, that would be great, or, recommend a book that would help. Thanks. I will be performing an exchange 5.5 move to a new server, just wanted to know if the technet article Q155216 also applies if I want to make the new exchange server be a stand-alone server instead of a PDC. ScanMail
I've been having problems with the Trend's ScanMail ever since I re-booted the Exchange server. When I look at the services both the Realtime Scan service and scan monitor are up and running, and the Realtime scan monitor window says that everything is fine, however it does not appear to be scanning e-mails as it used to. I'm running NT4 SP6a and Exchange 5.5 SP4 with ScanMail 3.52. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. RE: ScanMail
The ScanMail Realtime Scan monitor does not give a list of the scanned messages. I don't get the avg processing rate. When I try to update UPDATE: Error in prepare patch programWEB: I had originally submitted this error to the Trend's support, Question from : product : ScanMail for Exchange product Version : 3.52 Serial Number : SEEF-0018-3918-7639-5283 os : Windows NT os version : 4.0 Question Category : Real-time Scanning Question Description : I'm using NT 4.0 SP6a and Exchange 5.5 SP4. I had to re-boot the server and now the Real time scan monitor keeps on telling me that the Real-time scan service iss stopped I have tried stopping and startinf the service but it keeps on giving me the result. This is the response I got, I have studied your case and itemized your concerns below. PLease inform me if I have misinterpreted anything. - Problem (1.) I'm using NT 4.0 SP6a and Exchange 5.5 SP4. I had to re-boot the server and now the Real time scan monitor keeps on telling me that the Real-time scan service is stopped I have tried stopping and restarting the service but it keeps on giving me the same result. - Solution : Go to Start | Control Panel | Services and scroll down to ScanMail_RealTimeScan. Click the Stop button. After the service stops, click the Start button. Often this fixes the problem. If not, you may have a corrupted profile for SMEX__PF, where is the name of the affected Exchange server. Please perform the following steps to fix it: 1. Logon to the Exchange server as the account which ScanMail for Exchange is running on. 2. Stop the ScanMail services. 3. Use your mail client to re-create a new profile (e.g., SMEX_{ServerName}_PF) and point it to the SMEX_{ServerName}_MB mailbox. 4. Use your mail client to make sure that it is the default profile. 5. Restart the ScanMail services. After trying the above steps I still didn't get it to work I changed the start-up account to the exchange account abnd this got it working but I still get the impression it's not working, everything seems buggy.
