Roaming Outlook XP users, but with no Roaming Profiles
Is there any way of having a roaming outlook profile that follows a user, but without actually having a roaming w2k profile? Anyone who have succeed to apply the patch with no reboot? -Original Message- From: Dan Bartley [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: den 30 maj 2002 02:41 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Product Support Services - Microsoft Security Bulletin -MS02 -025 In my case I did apply to a test server first. I got could not stop msexchangesa and could not restart iisadmin services. Not a problem, I stopped the Exchange services manually, it requires a reboot anyway so restarting at time of install is not important. I've had similar services stopping and starting issues with every Exchange patch for E2k. That's why I test first. So far, 4 hours into it, no performance problems or loss of services on the test box. That's the important part. If it continues to be ok under load then I will apply it to a production server, after stopping all services manually first (something I learned to do as far back as 4.0). The important part is that I know what to expect when I apply the patch in production and that makes for a smooth transition and minimum downtime. OWA - FTP Type repsonse. - E2K
I have an upgraded 5.5 server now on E2K sp2 which responds with FTP type browsing when accessing the OWA. I'm not getting any errors. I had to follow a few Q's as the exchfilt.dll did not swap to the new version on upgrade, not sure if this is related. Also the /exadmin virtual was missing. I have added this. The application still not seem to start. Also the server has recipient policies to accept mail from other domain names. These never authenticate via OWA, any reason for this? Ive tried adding another virtual HTTP server for the said mailboxes/domains, but no joy. RE: ADC - Config Entry
Yes, I followed a few Q's, it wanted me to change the LDAP ports on my existing 5.5 servers. I changed them to 379. It let me create the SRS. Replication has started and some tanked up mail has now been delivered from 5.5 to 2000. The E2K servers are now showing up in the 5.5 Admin tools on the 5.5 servers. I'll leave it at that as that sorts that particular issue. Thanks. Just to recap, un-installing 2000 removed the Config_CA in ADC, on re-installing, it did not ask me what site to join and just installed. Hence my problem. Just wondering if Im going to hit other problems because of the order of problems and installation. RE: Exch2000 d-queue from 5.5 with ETRN
Thanks Andy, I don't seem to be getting my head around this The FQDN is peteralan.co.uk, at the mo, all mail is accepted as inbound on the IMC. All users have a mailbox, they access it using Outlook on a LAN POP3 over the Internet. Some of the users are now at a fixed new site and they have Exchange 2000 with ISDN facilities. You want me to remove their mailboxes (I don't mind doing this, as they are quite empty) and change their entity to a SMTP custom recipient. Do I use a spoof address? So USER 1 has a mailbox, and an address of [EMAIL PROTECTED] I delete the mailbox, create a custom recipient using [EMAIL PROTECTED] and an additional address of [EMAIL PROTECTED] (made up name). Then open the IMC, on Connections, click on Email-Domain, add peteralan2.co.uk or peteralan.co.uk? and Q for ETRN. On the Exchange 2k Server, I dial the net, request ETRN from which domain? DO I define a user/password for de-q? If I try autodial using a VPN setup it never dials, only a normal ISP dial. If I dial manually it works. Having trouble pre-determining an IP. But is that really necessary? I thought with ETRN you did not need a fixed IP address. What Email address should the newly created mailbox on the E2K server have for [EMAIL PROTECTED] the real one or the spoof one of [EMAIL PROTECTED] and have a reply address of [EMAIL PROTECTED]? Thanks for your time. I suppose I'll understand the next time around. Tony -Original Message- From: Webb, Andy [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: 31 January 2002 16:03 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Exch2000 d-queue from 5.5 with ETRN Sensitivity: Confidential After a fashion. For the remote users, you would not configure mailboxes, but rather Custom Recipients. The Custom Recipient would have a primary SMTP address of the remote system ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) and would have a secondary SMTP address of [EMAIL PROTECTED] That way external mail gets sent to your server for those users. On the IMS, you would then configure (on the Connections tab) a Domain Message Delivery exception for e2k.bar.com and set the Queue messages for ETRN checkbox. Next you need RRAS set up to receive VPN connections. When the E2K server dials the internet, it can then establish a VPN connection to your network (and get a fixed IP, which you either put in the Domain configuration above, or put in your local DNS) and issue the ETRN. The mail will be deliverd over the secure VPN. Alternatively you could use one of the dynamic-DNS services to update the DNS info for the E2K server every time it dials up, but since Exchange 5.5 maintains a DNS cache, that's not going to work very well. === Andy Webb[EMAIL PROTECTED] www.swinc.com Simpler-Webb, Inc. RE: E2K wont receive mail in 5.5 site.
All servers are 5.5 SP3. Half of them still on NT 4 SP6a, one is on W2K SP2 I Installed the ADC first. But did not establish a Recipient Connection, as it would not take it as below, So I went ahead and installed E2K, and joined the existing 5.5 site. All this seems ok. I've got a PDC (Its the only server in the domain), Its got Exchange 5.5 on it. I'm doing the following; Upgrading it to 2000 ADV Server, create a new AD forest and leave it in mixed mode. Works fine, Exchange 5.5 happy, whole server happy. I run Exchange 2000 setup, run the ADC thingy - Fine. On completion of install, no Exchange what so ever...All services start ok, but it does not replicate the 5.5 site into 2000 no-one has accessAlso non of the connectors work.
