SMTP Addresses
This might be a silly newbie question, but how does one go about setting a default set of addresses in Exchange 2000 that will update all the user accounts with something other than just [EMAIL PROTECTED] For example, I already have it set so that all users have addresses at @heightslibrary.org and at @chuhpl.lib.oh.us. But the required addresses from our consortium also include needing the user name part of be the following formats: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] The second of these is easy... It's just the alias, but how can I set something up to format the addresses using the first and last names? Basically I'd like to avoid having to do it individually for all my users. I know the update service will take care of populating these accounts with the addresses, I just need to have the system recognize how I want the addresses formatted. Secondary SMTP addresses in E2k
Hello folks: Happy Friday to all! Native E2k/AD infrastructure; all patched and worm-free, thank you very much. My question: if a secondary SMTP address is changed to be the primary SMTP address of an existing mailbox, will that screw things up? For a group of users, our task is to change the FROM field to the new primary address and no longer use the previous primary SMTP address. (I may be wrong but I seem to recall this could be done in 5.5 wherein the FROM field is now the new primary SMTP address) Sounds like spoofing, doesn't it? Perhaps I'd just better test more. Thanks in advance for any replies! -Juancho _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchangetext_mode=lang=english To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

RE: SMTP Addresses
There are a couple ways to do this (depending on what makes you happy). The easiest way would be to put the SMTP address in question into the TO: line in Outlook and tap CTRL+K, which will try to resolve the address against the GAL (which is provided by AD). If that doesn't do it for you, you could always run an LDAP query against AD using your favorite LDAP tool (ldp, ldifde, ADSIEdit, etc..). ResolveP2 and multiple SMTP addresses
I am having trouble with my Exchange 5.5 single-server environment, and you guys are the smartest bunch I know... I have a user who has multiple SMTP addresses on his mailbox. I want to have Outlook 2000 rules fire based on those different addresses. In other words, if he has two addresses (lets call them [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED]) I want to sort them into sub folders based on which address the message was sent to. In the past (years past, exchange 4 or 5, if I remember correctly) I simply set the ResolveP2 registry entry on the exchange server to 0, and it left the addresses alone, and I could sort to my hearts content. But now that is not working. I have looked at Q174755 - XFOR: ResolveP2 Registry Setting Expanded in Exchange 5.5. But it clearly states that if I set it to 0 it will not resolve any P2. But it still is. I was going to try some of the combinations mentioned in that article to see how it reacts, but thought I'd ask for advice first. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Glenn Sullivan, MCSE+I MCDBA David Clark Company Inc. _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED] _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED] _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED] _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Adding SMTP Addresses to DLs
Hello, I'm using Exchange 2000 with Active Directory. I am trying to create a distribution list that contains both individuals within my organization and external to my organization. So, I want to be able to have a list that contains (for example): RU\username RU\user2 [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] Is this at all possible? Is there another way for me to create a list of external email addresses using exchange? Thank you very much for any assistance you can provide. Make mail-enabled contacts for the external recipients, then add them to the distribution list.
