[FairfieldLife] I need some spiritual help
Yes, I need some spiritual help - I will admit it - I think maybe I've lost my soul. How do I contact the spirit of my dead mother? I really miss her - for 65 years I was able to call her up on the phone, any time day or night - and talk to her about anything. Being an only child this was very important to me. Now that she is gone I would really like to talk to her again. Will You please help me - I really need some spiritual help. If not, why not? Is it asking too much of you pundits to give me some spiritual help? If you don't know how, just tell me you don't know and I will seek help somewhere else, like on the internet at alt.buddha.short.fat.guy. I already meditate twice a day and do yoga at least once a week, and I respond to almost every message on spiritual discussion groups, but sometimes I still get mad as hell. I'm trying to figure this out. I get down on my hands and knees and pray every day - when I go to bed at night I pray that I will wake up in the morning; when I do wake up, I give thanks for being able to wake up. But, how can I pass through the gateless gate and travel to the other side, beyond the physical world to see my dear mother? I'm doing the work! So, please help me. Also, I would like some help with learning human levitation and human flying. If I knew that secret technique, I could be a billionaire in a few days and I would give away half of that to the homeless and the needy. I would like to learn how to rise up slowly off of a sofa and fly up to the side of a mountain or lift up at Denny's in downtown L.A. to impress my friends and look like a Zen Master. I would like to learn more about all the siddhis mentioned by Patanjali, such as how to become as light as cotton fiber; to be invisible; to be able to see into the future and the past; make predictions so as to avoid the danger that lies ahead; and how to pass through solid objects to save time. And, I would like to learn a few more secret phrases to repeat when I address the gods so that I could command them to do give me boons and to be able to cause change at will. Does anyone on this group know anything about left-handed tantra? Or even right handed tantra? How do I go about weaving a basket or making a yantra and how to please women? FOR GAWD'S SAKE, WOULD ONE OF YOU GUYS PLEASE HELP ME!

Even so, statistically it seems unlikely any explanation is really very solid to explain the drop in crime. The temperature has now risen to -1ºF (-18ºC). A balmy day!

Boy, this is really going to be useful for creating enlightened human
beings. Monuments that say, 'Look what we might have done, but instead we built
these buildings at the lowest cost per square foot'. In terms of
'enlightenment', the only thing that stands as a gift of 'total knowledge' is
an enlightened human being. On top of that everyone is already experiencing
total knowledge. All that has to be done is find a way to point it out to
people, i.e., meditation, and some related disciplines so they get it. In just
about 60 years the movement has gone from a vigorous spiritual movement to a
decaying shell of posturing. It seems as if (assuming for the sake of the
argument that popular theories of karma are true) Maharishi's karma was to have
been surrounded by idiots to such an extent that his flaws rather than any
wisdom he might have had were eventually brought to the fore.
In this respect, Maharishi created his own karma by carefully making sure that
the only people allowed to be around him were worshipful sycophants who never
dared to tell him the truth. All he ever wanted to hear was sweet truth,
meaning that he wanted to be told over and over how important and wonderful he
was by people stupid enough to pay him a million dollars each to be *able* to
tell him how important and wonderful he was. Naturally, none of these dweebs
were about to tell him that his idea to improve humanity by erecting (sic) huge
phalluses with his name on them all over the world was so embarrassing as to be
considered insane.
Look at the logo below and think of each of these Towers Of Invincibility as
a dick. Maharishi certainly did.

You sound really mixed up. How can an avowed atheist believe in a soul that reincarnates, whether it is a conglomeration of components and/or a spirit that exist simultaneously? You are not even making any sense. How could a person be raised from the dead? And, exactly how would you be able to communicate with a spirit of the dead person? If individuals do have a soul, there must be billions and billions of them by now. Where are the souls? Do souls have a physical body? Are the souls aliens from outer space? Do the souls exist on another plane of existence? Why can't we see the souls? Are souls like ghosts or phantoms? Are the souls like devas or angels? Other pertinent questions: Why is it that you can only remember previous lives that seem to be the elite entities that were supposed kings, spiritual masters, or rich and wise people? Why can't you remember any previous lives where you were a slave, vagrant, or a suffering peon? Why would an an atheist try to be on a spiritual path? And, how did you get so confused? Newspapers employ people to collect and collate the days PR's which are then sent to the editor who decides which is newsworthy and instructs journo's to get more information if the PR doesn't contain all they need for a story. When I worked in the media dept of the TMO it was no surprise to find that we sent out PR's on an almost daily basis. In fact part of my job was creating databases of journo's to send things to. Very easily done, you just read magazines and if you find someone who writes about things like alternative medicine they go on a list for the next ayurveda release etc. In times of conflict we'd send out PR's on a daily basis to every news outlet about how we had a proper solution to the trouble and how every government should give us money to create groups of yogic flyers. Crime rate gone up? PR about yogic flying. Impending election in war zone? Yogic flying again. Only one PR was ever taken up by the UK press (one about teaching the unemployed to do yogic flying so they can make themselves useful by keeping crime rates down - treated with distinct amusement) But that didn't stop them for a second, and so it shouldn't. Keeping up a good media profile is essential these days, look at the coverage a mere mention of David Lynch gets, do you really think that newspapers go looking for stories about celebrities and what they do? Of course not, the TMO sends out a press release with all relevant info and they get in touch if they want to make a story out of it. That's the way it works. So why don't we get to hear about the Marshy Effect PR's? Because crackpot theories about reducing crime by jumping up and down in your pyjama's still isn't considered a worthy news story. But I bet my bottom dollar they are still sending them out. They'd be failing in their duty if they've stopped. Unless they don't believe it any more either? Newspapers employ people to collect and collate the days PR's which are then sent to the editor who decides which is newsworthy and instructs journo's to get more information if the PR doesn't contain all they need for a story. When I worked in the media dept of the TMO it was no surprise to find that we sent out PR's on an almost daily basis. In fact part of my job was creating databases of journo's to send things to. Very easily done, you just read magazines and if you find someone who writes about things like alternative medicine they go on a list for the next ayurveda release etc. In times of conflict we'd send out PR's on a daily basis to every news outlet about how we had a proper solution to the trouble and how every government should give us money to create groups of yogic flyers. Crime rate gone up? PR about yogic flying. Impending election in war zone? Yogic flying again. Only one PR was ever taken up by the UK press (one about teaching the unemployed to do yogic flying so they can make themselves useful by keeping crime rates down - treated with distinct amusement) But that didn't stop them for a second, and so it shouldn't. Keeping up a good media profile is essential these days, look at the coverage a mere mention of David Lynch gets, do you really think that newspapers go looking for stories about celebrities and what they do? Of course not, the TMO sends out a press release with all relevant info and they get in touch if they want to make a story out of it. That's the way it works. So why don't we get to hear about the Marshy Effect PR's? Because crackpot theories about reducing crime by jumping up and down in your pyjama's still isn't considered a worthy news story. But I bet my bottom dollar they are still sending them out. They'd be failing in their duty if they've stopped. Unless they don't believe it any more either? Now I'm on Medicare and group medical insurance and Rita is on Obamacare, so we both have insurance and that's a good thing. But, I am still upset that Obama lied to us and told us that if we liked our previous plan we could keep it. Why should we have to have insurance anyway - shouldn't medical care be free in the U.S? Also, I am upset about being lied to by Obama, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Susan Rice and John Kerry. Hillary did NOT get fired on getting out of a helicopter; we are NOT winning the war against al Qaeda; ISIS is NOT on the run; and the Benghazi killings were NOT the result of a dumb video. And, John Kerry was NOT in Cambodia during Christmas of 1968 - he was in South Vietnam eating turkey and dressing with his band of brothers. Hillary voted to use force and send in U.S. troops to invade Iraq. I am really upset that Obama pulled out all the U.S. troops from Iraq and Afghanistan and now he wants Congress to authorize him to send our boys back in there again to be killed - after ten years of fighting and spending billions of taxpayer money - after we had won the war over there. With genetic engineering one can mimic things like cross breeding, or (and this is where the real potential for danger comes in) mimic natural mutation, or inserting genes from other species, or creating entirely synthetic genes. I think a glow in the dark 'spiritual' gene that activates when a person believes a spiritual philosophy with too great a percentage of gullibility would help identify people one might want to avoid, as the conversation with such would tend to be repetitive without progress. Boy, this is really going to be useful for creating enlightened human
beings. Monuments that say, 'Look what we might have done, but instead we built
these buildings at the lowest cost per square foot'. In terms of
'enlightenment', the only thing that stands as a gift of 'total knowledge' is
an enlightened human being. On top of that everyone is already experiencing
total knowledge. All that has to be done is find a way to point it out to
people, i.e., meditation, and some related disciplines so they get it. In just
about 60 years the movement has gone from a vigorous spiritual movement to a
decaying shell of posturing. It seems as if (assuming for the sake of the
argument that popular theories of karma are true) Maharishi's karma was to have
been surrounded by idiots to such an extent that his flaws rather than any
wisdom he might have had were eventually brought to the fore.

cost benefits over conventional organic farming techniques.

Hybridization of species is far different from splicing genes from a non-plant species which bio-tech companies do. We really have no idea what the long term effects of that is. Michael, I don't know about the UK, but one can have a drink (alcoholic) in
most movie theaters I've been to in the rest of Europe. Some of the theaters
even have full bars that are so nice that people come to them to socialize and
have a drink with friends even if they're not seeing a movie. The bar in the
ornate, wonderful Tuschinski cinema in Amsterdam is like that:

Where do you live in Oregon? I lived in Eugene twice -- once back in 1969-70
and once a few years later when I got stuck being TMO State Coordinator for

The really sad thing about this gene update to apples is that it will kill
the export market for US apples. Many countries will not accept them. I
believe Japan is already rejecting our non GMO apples as part of the trade wars
in Free Trade. Now this wrinkle.

BTW, our Governor here in Oregon resigned last week. I am sadden by this, but
he also sold out the NO GMO crowd, of which I am a card carrying member of,
when the Republicans held hostage a grand bargain to balance the budget. The
lasw basically made it illegal for counties to ban GMO crops since a few had
done so in the past year. What one issue has to do with other issue is beyond
me! Anyway, I was done with him at that point. Also, he authored our state's

Maybe you have not thought this through. Are you suggesting that GMO labels must appear on all strains of cannabis? What exactly does the acronym GMO mean? We already have the USDA Certified Organic label, which certifies that the product is free of GMOs. There is a reason that both Oregon and Colorado voters voted no on a ballot initiative that would have required certain labels on food products that contained genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Food activists are free to pursue ballot initiatives. They are free to harass food manufacturers into compliance with their many outrageous demands. I am sadden by this, but he also sold out the NO GMO crowd, of which I am a card carrying member of, when the Republicans held hostage a grand bargain to balance the budget. The really sad thing about this gene update to apples is that it will kill the export market for US apples. Many countries will not accept them. I believe Japan is already rejecting our non GMO apples as part of the trade wars in Free Trade. Now this wrinkle. Browning in fruit is an indication that the fruit is beyond ripe and largely inedible for folks. It's kind of nature's pull date to use a supermarket analogy. The fruit is still breaking down it just isn't showing its true colors, so to speak.

Some companies have started no-GMO labeling on their own. These are mostly for products that Monsanto and their ilk have not intruded on such as coconut oil. And according to Jeffery Smith, the GMO expert, only yellow corn is GMO. Popcorn, white corn, red and blue corn have not yet been intruded on. When we had a GMO proposition on the ballot two years ago it was a great psychological test to see how people reacted to my pro labeling stance. BTW, that proposition actually may have gotten the votes as it is believed there was fraud in Central Valley agricultural areas. To stave off any recounts the election officials in those areas demanded expensive fees for a recount. While the Boston area got the brunt of it all, two seasons worth of snow in the last 23 days, the New York area also was shut down for a couple of days in this period and its been colder than normal. Right now in my area about 60 miles (100km) from New York City, the temperature is -8ºF (-22ºC) with a wind chill factor of -22ºF (-30ºC) and a National Weather Service dangerous wind chill advisory for another hour or so. Now that the Sun is up here, it's starting to get a bit warmer. This seems to be a better explanation. It's frigging cold here with more snow than usual. People are staying in their homes more, etc. Also there is more awareness of police presence due to the incidents earlier a couple of deaths at the hands of police and the murder of policemen and huge funerals for these people, including a large number of police from other states recently attending the policemens' funerals in a show of solidarity. Even so, statistically it seems unlikely any explanation is really very solid to explain the drop in crime. The temperature has now risen to -1ºF (-18ºC). A balmy day!

well if the seeds from the crop are used, protecting their investment. The
problem with poorer countries with GMO crops is just this — sharing seeds, or
using seeds harvested from GMO crops. However GMO seeds from GMO crops are used
under license. Monsanto says they have sued 147 farmers out of 325,000

crops could have potential dangers, but the TMO doesn't want them because they
want to sell their mumbo-jumbo farming techniques, which so far do not seem to
have any kind of scientific track record for improved yield or food quality or
cost benefits over conventional organic farming techniques.
I also think lack of diversity will be a big problem. This happened even before
GMO technology, or even hybridising crops because we select what we like to eat
and want to grow it without a lot of trouble.

Exactly. I think the thing that worries me most about GMO's is that the world
food supply ends up in the hands of bio-tech companies. Farmers in the third
world have already been sued for sharing last years seeds among themselves
rather than buying new ones from the manufacturer, along with the pesticides
they are designed to work with.
Keeping food strains strong via interbreeding by sharing seeds will be a thing
of the past in our brave new monoculture world.

Boy, this is really going to be useful for creating enlightened human beings. Monuments that say, 'Look what we might have done, but instead we built these buildings at the lowest cost per square foot'. In terms of 'enlightenment', the only thing that stands as a gift of 'total knowledge' is an enlightened human being. On top of that everyone is already experiencing total knowledge. All that has to be done is find a way to point it out to people, i.e., meditation, and some related disciplines so they get it. In just about 60 years the movement has gone from a vigorous spiritual movement to a decaying shell of posturing. Only one PR was ever taken up by the UK press (one about teaching the unemployed to do yogic flying so they can make themselves useful by keeping crime rates down - treated with distinct amusement) But that didn't stop them for a second, and so it shouldn't. Keeping up a good media profile is essential these days, look at the coverage a mere mention of David Lynch gets, do you really think that newspapers go looking for stories about celebrities and what they do? Ah yes, that's the sort of thing. I can see that turning into a press release no problem. The trouble they have getting this stuff picked up by the media (one of them anyway) is that they can't get any of the TM celebs to publicly endorse yogic flying and the Marshy Effect. Everyone understands the concept of meditation, so when celebs come out and say they do TM because they find relaxation useful it's ready-made copy for the papers because it's so obvious, and they get a famous face to get clicks with. But try and get David Lynch to publicly admit he believes in collective consciousness and that the FF butt-bouncers are responsible for anything paranormal, let alone that they brought down the Berlin wall, and he won't. There's no way he'll publicly admit to what he most assuredly believes because he knows full well that it wouldn't be treated as a celebrity endorsement but as a sign that he'd gone completely crazy. More ready-made copy. So they have to rely on the science which doesn't convince anyone. If anyone had real confidence in it it'd be self-explanatory and they'd be able to persuade DL and the other rent-a-mug's that it's worth getting into the public realm. But it's not and he's way too media savvy to sacrifice his credibility for that. So Feste, don't take the fact that you never see this in the news as evidence that they don't try, they are on the case every day. And the fact they never get this stuff published doesn't remotely bother them - they are like Jehovah's Witnesses in this respect - the act of sending out the press release so that people in influential positions get to read it is a spiritually satisfying enough act, because it gets the word out. If it took 7000 to lower the crime rate 20% in Washington in 1993 (not that I believe it) then how many have been meditating in New York to get a 54% reduction? Erm, none it would seem. So the Marshy Effect either isn't reliable enough to be tested or is hopelessly inadequate compared to whatever is going on now. But I can absolutely guarantee they are sending out PR's claiming that the lower crime is all down to them. We would have been! I used to work in PR myself and everyone with an agenda, whether it's world peace or selling shoes, sends out a press release (PR's) at every chance they get to (hopefully) keep their brand in the news . Newspapers employ people to collect and collate the days PR's which are then sent to the editor who decides which is newsworthy and instructs journo's to get more information if the PR doesn't contain all they need for a story. When I worked in the media dept of the TMO it was no surprise to find that we sent out PR's on an almost daily basis. In fact part of my job was creating databases of journo's to send things to. Very easily done, you just read magazines and if you find someone who writes about things like alternative medicine they go on a list for the next ayurveda release etc. In times of conflict we'd send out PR's on a daily basis to every news outlet about how we had a proper solution to the trouble and how every government should give us money to create groups of yogic flyers. Crime rate gone up? PR about yogic flying. Impending election in war zone? Yogic flying again. Only one PR was ever taken up by the UK press (one about teaching the unemployed to do yogic flying so they can make themselves useful by keeping crime rates down - treated with distinct amusement) But that didn't stop them for a second, and so it shouldn't. Keeping up a good media profile is essential these days, look at the coverage a mere mention of David Lynch gets, do you really think that newspapers go looking for stories about celebrities and what they do? Of course not, the TMO sends out a press release with all relevant info and they get in touch if they want to make a story out of it. That's the way it works. So why don't we get to hear about the Marshy Effect PR's? Because crackpot theories about reducing crime by jumping up and down in your pyjama's still isn't considered a worthy news story. But I bet my bottom dollar they are still sending them out. They'd be failing in their duty if they've stopped. Unless they don't believe it any more either? Ah yes, that's the sort of thing. I can see that turning into a press release no problem. The trouble they have getting this stuff picked up by the media (one of them anyway) is that they can't get any of the TM celebs to publicly endorse yogic flying and the Marshy Effect. Everyone understands the concept of meditation, so when celebs come out and say they do TM because they find relaxation useful it's ready-made copy for the papers because it's so obvious, and they get a famous face to get clicks with. But try and get David Lynch to publicly admit he believes in collective consciousness and that the FF butt-bouncers are responsible for anything paranormal, let alone that they brought down the Berlin wall, and he won't. There's no way he'll publicly admit to what he most assuredly believes because he knows full well that it wouldn't be treated as a celebrity endorsement but as a sign that he'd gone completely crazy. More ready-made copy. So they have to rely on the science which doesn't convince anyone. If anyone had real confidence in it it'd be self-explanatory and they'd be able to persuade DL and the other rent-a-mug's that it's worth getting into the public realm. But it's not and he's way too media savvy to sacrifice his credibility for that. So Feste, don't take the fact that you never see this in the news as evidence that they don't try, they are on the case every day. And the fact they never get this stuff published doesn't remotely bother them - they are like Jehovah's Witnesses in this respect - the act of sending out the press release so that people in influential positions get to read it is a spiritually satisfying enough act, because it gets the word out. It keeps us lively in their consciousness is how they described it to me.
