What if you woke up in the morning and you found out that there was a humanitarian crises at the border with 50,000 migrants swimming across the Rio Grand? What if you found out that they were mostly toddlers and babies and pregnant mothers? What if they were trying to /turn themselves in/ to the authorities? What would you do? 1. Form a posse and point guns at them and shout Stop you wetbacks!, even though they can't even understand Spanish. 2. Go on TV and declare them all drug-runners and Mexican gang mafia and send in the National Guard to monitor the situation. 3. Request more money from congress for food and medicine, arrange for a place for them to stay, and hire more clerks, judges, and care-givers. 4. Tell everyone to pass immigration reform, eat some corn chips and guacamole and then go play golf. 5. Build a really tall fence all along the border with cameras and drones and border guards. 6. Do nothing. 7. All of the above. DES MOINES, Iowa --- A federal official says 122 children who entered the country illegally were sent to Iowa in the first half of the year... Re: [FairfieldLife] Re: What Would YOU Do?
I'd blame it on the Republicans and say we got what we deserved because it's our karma coming back to bite us in the ars! Then I'd open up the borders and send the illegals to all the red states, make them legal, so we could turn the red states blue. Then I'd blame the Jews for the problems in the middle east and withdraw my support for Israel in hopes of appeasing the followers of the religion of *peace* then curl up in a fetal position and hope everybody loves me. That way, I don't have to get out the Goo Gone and clean the lens every time I want to join a video conference. Re: [FairfieldLife] Re: What Would You Do?
The acid test was this morning and the camera performed beautifully for such a toy. The one goof I caught on video was the SUV in front of me stopping as the warning lights started going off at the railroad crossing. He was just right on top of the crossing and should have continued through. Be he stopped instead and then had to back up. The crossings are set up so the bars don't come down immediately so a car can get through. The train was about 15 seconds out so plenty of time. What didn't work so well was the footage as I returned home as that camera apparently got too hot in the car so the video was blurry. Checking here the camera is back to normal. So I will put it away if it looks like it is going to get heat from direct sunlight while parking. Re What if you found out that fewer and fewer youngsters are supporting more and more retirees?: Is that necessarily bad news? The reason we need a smaller work force is because automation in manufacturing and IT in the office means fewer people can do the work that a generation ago a larger workforce could accomplish. Sounds like you had one with an infra-red controller if the sun interfered with it. There are inexpensive RC copters and quadcopters. What if you found out that the children were trying to join their parents in the U.S.? And, what would you think about deporting thousands of refugee children back to Central America? What if you found out that U.S. SWAT teams were going into homes and ripping children from their parents and sending them back home alone? According to to U.S. law, a child seeking asylum in the U.S. cannot be deported. Go figure. It's a huge humanitarian crisis that is testing the leadership skills of President Barack Obama and the capacity of agencies charged with controlling our borders and dealing with asylum requests. [FairfieldLife] Re: What Would You Do?, was What If?
What if you woke up in the morning and you found out that earth had been invaded by aliens? The aliens have almost taken over the entire planet. They've turned you and others into confused androids - weak and unable to see reality. Now we have millions of people who are like robots, blindly following our leaders. It should got the clue when somebody started building pyramids and ziggarats as signals to the other aliens. What would you do?

Texas officials appealed to the Obama administration on Thursday to secure the U.S.-Mexico border once and for all as waves of illegal immigrant children overwhelm the system, with one lawmaker saying U.S. military bases effectively have been transformed into camps to handle the influx. What if the federal government gave the immigrants work permits and refugee status? What if they got jobs and worked and paid income taxes? What if we could improve the living conditions in the countries where they came from? An overload of immigrant families at the U.S. border with Mexico has led to calls for aid from the Obama administration and ignited conversation around immigration reform. http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/immigration-border-crisis/murrieta-braces-more-immigration-protests-n147956 On 7/4/2014 9:59 AM, Richard J. [FairfieldLife] Re: What Would You Do If Bush Declared Martial Law?
Given the way peoples rights are trampled on today, I wonder what Martial Law will look like? --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, Bhairitu [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: An editorial in the New York Times yesterday pointed out, for those of us who didn't realize it, that the Bush administration had inserted two provisions into last October's defense budget bill that would make it easier to declare martial law in the US. Senators Leahy and Bond have introduced a bill to repeal these changes, and it is important that voters keep track of this bill and hold their Congresspeople to account on it. Along with several other measures the Bush adminstration has proposed, the introduction of these changes amounts, not to an attack on the Congress and the balance of power, but to a particular and concerted attack on the citizens of the nation. Bush is laying the legal groundwork to repeal even the appearance of democracy. Any senator who does not vote in favor of the Leahy/Bond repeal of these provisions should promptly be recalled by his or her constituents.
