What if you woke up in the morning and you found out that there was a
humanitarian crises at the border with 50,000 migrants swimming across
the Rio Grand? What if you found out that they were mostly toddlers and
babies and pregnant mothers? What if they were trying to /turn
themselves in/ to the authorities? What would you do?

1. Form a posse and point guns at them and shout Stop you wetbacks!,
even though they can't even understand Spanish.
2. Go on TV and declare them all drug-runners and Mexican gang mafia
and send in the National Guard to monitor the situation.
3. Request more money from congress for food and medicine, arrange for
a place for them to stay, and hire more clerks, judges, and
   care-givers.
4. Tell everyone to pass immigration reform, eat some corn chips and
guacamole and then go play golf.
5. Build a really tall fence all along the border with cameras and
   drones and border guards.
6. Do nothing.
7. All of the above.

I'd blame it on the Republicans and say we got what we deserved because it's
our karma coming back to bite us in the ars! Then I'd open up the borders and
send the illegals to all the red states, make them legal, so we could turn the
red states blue. Then I'd blame the Jews for the problems in the middle east
and withdraw my support for Israel in hopes of appeasing the followers of the
religion of *peace* then curl up in a fetal position and hope everybody loves

Yep, in some places (Russia, for example) it's become essential to

One day, that camera of yours might record your dying moments after a

ensure you're a YouTube sensation.

You'd probably be wanting to get a dash cam AND a Go Pro camera pointing

would video tape movies at theaters - not record the movie, but to
record his own expressions so he could watch them later at home. Go figure.

Well, I guess it depends on where you use your laptop - I don't usually
take mine into the bedroom or the bathroom, so I don't need any black
tape on my laptop camera lens - I just close the lid when I'm done with
Skype. That way, I don't have to get out the Goo Gone and clean the lens
every time I want to join a video conference.

The fact is, we don't really know what's inside our laptop computers,
either built into the hardware or the software. But that pales in
comparison to what's being stored about you in the data center. Have you
run an electronic device sweep through your house lately - it's probably
bugged somewhere.

So, I wouldn't be surprised if your iPhone has a little chip in it that
tells Apple almost everything you say, even when your phone is turned
off. Since you probably take the phone with you everywhere, they've
probably recorded every bedside chat you've had for the past five years.
Go figure.

These days one may want some liability insurance because your car
insurance may not be enough if you accidentally hit someone and their

The acid test was this morning and the camera performed beautifully
for such a toy. The one goof I caught on video was the SUV in front of
me stopping as the warning lights started going off at the railroad
crossing. He was just right on top of the crossing and should have
continued through. Be he stopped instead and then had to back up. The
crossings are set up so the bars don't come down immediately so a car
can get through. The train was about 15 seconds out so plenty of time.

What didn't work so well was the footage as I returned home as that
camera apparently got too hot in the car so the video was blurry.
Checking here the camera is back to normal. So I will put it away if it
looks like it is going to get heat from direct sunlight while parking.

What if you went to the American-Mexican border and you found out that
there were no border patrol on duty - that they were stationed forty
miles away. What if you found out that large stretches of the
Texas-Mexican border didn't have a fence? What if you found out that
hundreds of miles of the U.S. border were not secure?

If you were on the border, in the middle of the desert and there were no
border police or a fence and you saw 1000 women and children walking
your way, what would you do?

1. Give them a hug, a drink and a ride in your car into town.
2. Shout out to them to stop and go back where they came from.
3. Call the Border Patrol and report that women and children were
   crossing over to the U.S.
4. Shoot at them.
5. Do nothing.
6. Run.

Not sure how many registered Hispanic voters will be voting for
Democrats if they increase the deportations. Or, if they lower the
deportations, how many more refugees from Central America will be
encouraged to try to cross the border. When the mass coming across

Go figure.

Given the way peoples rights are trampled on today, I wonder what
Martial Law will look like?

An editorial in the New York Times yesterday pointed out, for those of
us who didn't realize it, that the Bush administration had inserted two
provisions into last October's defense budget bill that would make it
easier to declare martial law in the US. Senators Leahy and Bond have
introduced a bill to repeal these changes, and it is important that
voters keep track of this bill and hold their Congresspeople to account
on it. Along with several other measures the Bush adminstration has
proposed, the introduction of these changes amounts, not to an
attack on
the Congress and the balance of power, but to a particular and
concerted
attack on the citizens of the nation. Bush is laying the legal
groundwork to repeal even the appearance of democracy. Any senator who
does not vote in favor of the Leahy/Bond repeal of these provisions
should promptly be recalled by his or her constituents.

Of course the Vedic chanters and bun hoppers will keep this all from
 happening, right?
